Shark Toof Cici N'est Pas Une Mickey Mouse PP Archival Print by Shark Toof

Purchase Cici N'est Pas Une Mickey Mouse PP Printer Proof Archival Print by Shark Toof Limited Edition Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper Pop Artist Modern Artwork. PP Printers Proof 2018 Signed & Marked PP Limited Edition Artwork Size 24x18 Archival Pigment Fine Art. Cici N'est Pas Une Mickey Mouse, or "This is Not a Mickey Mouse" Exploring "Ceci N'est Pas Une Mickey Mouse" by Shark Toof "Ceci N'est Pas Une Mickey Mouse" is a Printer's Proof (PP) archival print that illuminates Shark Toof's presence in the contemporary pop art movement. Produced in 2018, this work is an artistic assertion, signed and marked PP, signifying its authenticity and rarity as a limited edition. Printed on 310gsm Fine Art Paper, the artwork employs archival pigment, ensuring that the vibrancy of its colors and the precision of its lines endure. The artwork, with dimensions of 24x18 inches, offers a substantial visual impact, reflecting the artist's intent to blend the world of street pop art with the finesse of fine art. Street Pop Art and Iconic Imagery In this piece, Shark Toof takes on the iconic image of Mickey Mouse, transforming it into a work that transcends the boundaries of graffiti and street pop art. Mickey Mouse, created by Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks, symbolizes childhood innocence and American popular culture since 1928. Shark Toof's rendition challenges this benign image, presenting an iteration that compels viewers to confront the layered meanings behind such a globally recognized symbol. By doing so, Shark Toof partakes in the grand tradition of pop art—recontextualizing familiar imagery to provoke thought and dialogue. Contemporary Reflections in Modern Art The piece's title, "Ceci N'est Pas Une Mickey Mouse," directly references René Magritte's "The Treachery of Images," a work that challenges observers' perceptions of reality. Similarly, Shark Toof's artwork invites the audience to reconsider the image of Mickey Mouse, asking them to delve deeper into their understanding of pop culture icons and their significance. This piece does not merely represent Mickey Mouse; it is a complex commentary on the character as a cultural product and its ubiquitous presence in the collective consciousness. Shark Toof uses a collage of disparate elements to compose the figure, hinting at the multifaceted nature of Mickey Mouse as a character that has been reinvented and reinterpreted over decades—the sharp teeth and fragmented composition critique childhood's commercialization and consumer culture's predatory nature. Shark Toof's Mickey Mouse symbolizes the loss of innocence in the face of commercial exploitation. Fine art paper and archival pigment position this piece within the discourse of art preservation, juxtaposing the ephemeral nature of street art with the permanence sought by fine artworks. In doing so, Shark Toof elevates the status of street pop art, aligning it with traditional art forms and ensuring its legacy. "Ceci N'est Pas Une Mickey Mouse" is a testament to Shark Toof's ability to navigate the interstices of pop culture, street art, and high art. His work declares that street pop art and graffiti artwork are not just fleeting visuals in the urban landscape but are significant statements with the power to influence, critique, and enrich the art world. Through this piece, Shark Toof contributes to the ongoing conversation about the role and impact of popular culture in art, urging us to reflect on the images we consume and the meanings we ascribe to them.

This 2023 piece is a giclee print on 255gsm cotton fine art paper, encompassing a limited series of 500 signed and numbered editions. Measuring 40x30 inches, the artwork features a skeleton sitting in a house, explosively surrounded by cult classic and pop culture iconography. Artistic Expression in "Inspiration Wave" The artwork vibrantly captures the essence of Gondek's approach to pop art. He deconstructs familiar figures from popular culture, recontextualizing them in chaotic yet meticulously structured compositions. The skeleton, often a symbol of mortality, is juxtaposed with the destruction of lively, animated characters, possibly reflecting on the transient nature of pop culture itself. Technical Craftsmanship and Symbolism Gondek's "Inspiration Wave" demonstrates his technical craftsmanship in fine art printing and embodies the more profound symbolism often associated with street pop art. Giclee printing indicates a dedication to quality and longevity, ensuring that the vividness of the acrylic paint colors and bold lines are preserved. Cultural Resonance of Gondek's Work Gondek's work resonates with a modern audience by taking elements of nostalgia and reimagining them with a contemporary twist. The artwork becomes a cultural artifact that speaks to the influence of pop and street art in today's society, marking Gondek as a pivotal figure in these art movements.

  • Ceci N'est Pas Une Spongebob PP Archival Print by Shark Toof

Shark Toof Ceci N'est Pas Une Spongebob PP Archival Print by Shark Toof

Purchase Ceci N'est Pas Une Spongebob PP Archival Print by Shark Toof Limited Edition Print on 310gsm Museum Fine Art Paper Pop Artist Modern Artwork. PP Printers Proof 2019 Signed & Marked PP Limited Edition Artwork Size 24x18 Archival Pigment Fine Art. "Ceci N'est Pas Une Spongebob, This Is Not A Spongebob" Decoding "Ceci N'est Pas Une SpongeBob" by Shark Toof "Ceci N'est Pas Une SpongeBob" is a provocative piece by the renowned street pop artist Shark Toof, challenging the boundaries of pop culture iconography within the context of modern street art. The artwork is a Printer's Proof (PP) archival print from 2019, meticulously signed and marked by the artist, denoting its status as a rare collector's item. Printed on 310gsm Museum Fine Art Paper, this piece exemplifies the high-quality medium Shark Toof employs to ensure durability and depth of color, crucial for the archival pigment fine art that this work represents. A Fusion of Street Art and Pop Culture This piece is a testament to the collision of street pop art and graffiti artwork with mainstream pop culture symbols. Shark Toof takes the universally recognized figure of SpongeBob SquarePants and distorts it, presenting an image that both acknowledges and subverts the original character. The title itself, a nod to René Magritte's "The Treachery of Images," prompts viewers to question the nature of representation and reality in art. Shark Toof's work suggests that the image of SpongeBob we see is not the character itself but a representation skewed by the artist's perspective and the cultural context in which it is viewed. Shark Toof's Artistic Commentary In "Ceci N'est Pas Une SpongeBob," Shark Toof is not simply replicating a beloved character; he is initiating a dialogue about the saturation of media icons in society and the consumption of these images. The distortion and decomposition of SpongeBob's features invite the audience to reflect on how mass media shapes and sometimes distorts our perceptions. This work captures the spirit of street pop art by using graffiti artwork's spontaneous and rebellious essence to comment on and criticize phenomena. The layered textures and vibrant colors reveal the complex relationship between commercial imagery and artistic expression. The art piece explores the tension between street art's ephemeral nature and fine art prints' enduring quality. Shark Toof bridges two seemingly disparate worlds by choosing SpongeBob, an icon from an animated children's show, and placing it in the sophisticated realm of limited edition prints. This juxtaposition challenges the viewer's understanding of what constitutes 'legitimate' art, questioning the hierarchies within the art world. Through "Ceci N'est Pas Une SpongeBob," Shark Toof contributes to the discourse on the value and significance of street pop art and graffiti artwork in contemporary culture. By recontextualizing a figure from the lexicon of popular media, he endows it with new meaning and elevates it within the art canon. This artwork is a visual spectacle with an intellectual engagement, prompting conversations about the nature of art, media's influence, and street art's power to transform and transcend ordinary objects and characters into extraordinary pieces of cultural commentary.

Purchase Storyteller AP Silkscreen Print by Raid71 Artist Proof Hand-Pulled Screen Print on Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. AP Artist Proof 2023 Signed & AP Marked Original Run Limited Edition Artwork Size 18x24 The "Storyteller AP" silkscreen print by Raid71, the moniker of British artist Chris Thornley, is a rich, evocative tribute to the legendary Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki, a towering figure in the world of animation. This work, infused with a deep admiration for Miyazaki, emerges as a unique confluence of pop art, street art, and graffiti art, embodying elements that are quintessential to each of these genres, thereby capturing the essence of their dynamism. The print encapsulates the magical realism and intricate artistry characteristic of Miyazaki's films. By employing silkscreen printing, a popular method in the pop art movement famously used by artists like Andy Warhol, Raid71 is able to imbue the artwork with vivid colours and bold shapes, capturing the exuberant visual style typical of Miyazaki's fantastical worlds. Simultaneously, Raid71's print exhibits an aesthetic that is reminiscent of street art and graffiti. Purchase OxyBunny Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Ben Frost pop culture LSD artwork. Archival Pigment Print on Perforated Blotter Paper Size:    7.5 x 7.5 Inches Release:    April 19, 2021 Limited blotter editions are hand-perforated by Zane Kesey & may vary slightly from the example shown. The essence of Frost’s commentary is established on the basis of subverting the meaning and the messages, promoted by the mainstream media. In other words and, as he has stated in the past: “The less you fill your mind with the trappings of advertising and bad television, the more space you have in your brain for things of value”. At the same time, his take on modern pop culture is equally compelling. Mainstream media, advertisements, and politics can be identified as some of his main fields of interest, which he utilizes and mixes up in a controversial formation. The word controversial is not used incidentally. What Ben Frost’s art is doing is, essentially, the appropriation and weaponization of imagery against the same system that gave birth to it.

Ben Frost Bugged Out Original Acrylic Painting by Ben Frost

Purchase Bugged Out Original One of a Kind Acrylic Painting Artwork on Marijuana Test Packaging by Popular Street Graffiti Artist Ben Frost. Signed Original Warner Brothers Loony Toons Bugs Bunny Weed Tests Acrylic on At-Home Marijuana Drug Test Box Size: 7.3125 x 5.375 Inches Release: November 26, 2021 Depicting Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes Cartoon TV Fame on a Real upcycled Marijuana Drug Test Box. Ben Frost's innovative artistry consistently pushes the boundaries of contemporary street and graffiti art. A prime example of this can be found in his "Bugged Out" piece, an original acrylic painting masterfully created on an actual at-home marijuana drug test package. This intriguing artwork measures 7.3125 x 5.375 inches and was unveiled on November 26, 2021. Drawing from the rich pop culture tapestry, Frost chose to depict the iconic Bugs Bunny from Warner Brothers' beloved Looney Tunes series. The mischievous smile and familiar pose of the cartoon rabbit is instantly recognizable, offering a dash of nostalgia. However, it's the contrast of this playful character with the serious undertones of a marijuana drug test that creates a powerful visual and conceptual juxtaposition. This choice stimulates conversation about societal norms, substance use, and the evolving landscape of popular culture. Using an upcycled drug test box as his canvas, Frost challenges the traditional paradigms of art. It speaks to the ethos of street and graffiti art, where unconventional mediums are often embraced to make bold statements. The decision to pair Bugs Bunny with this particular backdrop is not merely aesthetic; it invites viewers to ponder the interplay between recreational substances and the entertainment world and how perceptions change over time. In "Bugged Out", Ben Frost has once again demonstrated his uncanny ability to intertwine cultural icons with contemporary issues, delivering a piece that resonates on multiple levels and solidifying his reputation as a visionary in street art.

Purchase Socrates' Philosophies Wu-Tang Clan Silkscreen Print by Mark Drew  Hand-Pulled on Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork. 2021 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 150 Artwork Size 16.5x11.73 Silkscreen Print Mark Drew's Blend of Classical Thought and Modern Rhythms Mark Drew's silkscreen print titled "Socrates' Philosophies Wu-Tang Clan" represents a unique intersection of classical philosophy and contemporary hip-hop, embodied within the medium of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork. The limited edition piece, hand-pulled on fine art paper, was released in 2021 in a numbered series of 150, each piece bearing the artist's signature. The artwork, measuring 16.5x11.73 inches, features a silkscreen print that stands out for its creative fusion of an iconic historical figure with the lyrical genius of the Wu-Tang Clan, a seminal group in the landscape of hip-hop music. The print alludes to a famous line from the Wu-Tang Clan's "Wu-Tang Forever" album, where rap is elevated to the status of philosophical discourse. Drew's artistic rendition captures the essence of this comparison by depicting a cartoon character in deep contemplation, surrounded by the chaos of flying bees, symbolizing the swarming ideas of Socrates' philosophies with the swarm of the Wu-Tang Clan's collective creativity. This work celebrates the enduring relevance of philosophical inquiry, cleverly juxtaposed with the enduring impact of hip-hop on modern culture. The Cultural Commentary of Drew's Artistic Expression The cultural commentary in "Socrates' Philosophies Wu-Tang Clan" is multi-layered. Drew uses the art form to explore the dialogue between ancient knowledge and the poetic expression found in rap lyrics. Much like his other works, this piece showcases Drew's ability to transcend traditional boundaries of art, music, and thought. The visual narrative invites viewers to engage with the complexities of communication across time, illustrating how ancient wisdom resonates in the contemporary lexicon of music and Street Pop Art. Drew's choice of the silkscreen printing process is particularly fitting for this piece, as it allows for the precision and boldness necessary to convey the complex message. With its roots in both commercial art and the DIY ethos of street art, the technique lends a pop art aesthetic that is immediately recognizable and accessible. The limited edition nature of the print speaks to the exclusivity often associated with fine art, while the subject matter maintains the accessibility and cultural connectivity of street art. This artwork serves as a bridge, connecting the reflections of a classical philosopher with the modern narratives of the Wu-Tang Clan, whose work is often described as cerebral and steeped in Eastern philosophy. Through this print, Mark Drew celebrates the timeless nature of intellectual discourse, manifested through the rhythm and rhyme of one of the most influential hip-hop groups ever. The result is a piece that is visually striking and intellectually stimulating, embodying the core of what makes Street Pop Art a powerful medium for cultural expression.

Ben Frost Just One More Bump Blotter Paper Archival Print by Ben Frost

Purchase Just One More Bump Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Ben Frost pop culture LSD artwork. Archival Pigment Print on Perforated Blotter Paper Size:    7.5 x 7.5 Inches Release:    April 19, 2021 Limited blotter editions are hand-perforated by Zane Kesey & may vary slightly from the example shown. Ben Frost is utilizing imagery familiar to western culture in order to make a statement about the culture itself on the basis of consumerism, modern icons, big corporations, etc. Animation characters, pop icons, brand logos, and many more are transformed into vibrant artworks and find their place in galleries. With this in mind, and in the case of Ben Frost, it is futile to try to identify a clear borderline between low and high art. In reality, the artist wants the audience to think on the terms of high or low value and, by extension, what these actually mean. Over the years street artists have managed to establish themselves as respected creators and some of them have even gained international fame, transforming graffiti from a fringe art, aiming sometimes to mark street gangs’ territory, into big business.

Purchase Storyteller Variant AP Silkscreen Print by Raid71 Artist Proof Hand-Pulled Screen Print on Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. The organic forms and somewhat edgy, wild feel of the design mirrors the raw energy found in street murals or urban spray-can masterpieces. A hint of subversiveness is introduced, much like street art and graffiti often serve as counter-culture expressions or socio-political commentary. The "Storyteller AP" by Raid71 is thus not just an homage to Miyazaki, but also a celebration of these artistic genres. It mirrors the world-building capabilities of pop art, the raw energy of street art, and the disruptive potency of graffiti, all while maintaining a unique identity. This intertwining of styles generates a captivating visual narrative, positioning Raid71 as a modern-day storyteller, translating the magic of Miyazaki's oeuvre into a new medium.

Cartoon
Cartoons have been an integral part of pop culture since the early 20th century, and their influence can be seen in many forms of art, including graffiti and pop art. In this essay, I will explore how cartoons have become a popular subject in graffiti art and pop art and how they have evolved over time. Graffiti art is a form of urban art that involves writing or drawing on public walls, buildings, or other surfaces. Cartoons have been a popular subject in graffiti art since the early days of the movement. Graffiti artists often use cartoon characters to express their ideas and opinions, and to add a touch of humor to their work. One of the most famous examples of cartoon-inspired graffiti art is the work of the artist Banksy. Banksy often incorporates humorous and satirical cartoons into his work, such as the image of a rat wearing a beret and holding a paintbrush, which has become one of his signature images. Cartoon-inspired graffiti art has also become popular in the hip-hop and skateboarding communities. Many graffiti artists use cartoon characters from popular cartoons such as Looney Tunes, The Simpsons, and South Park to create their art. These characters are often depicted in a humorous or subversive way, which adds an element of rebellion and anti-authoritarianism to the artwork. Pop art is another form of art that has been influenced by cartoons. Pop art emerged in the 1950s and 60s and was characterized by its use of popular culture and consumerism as subject matter. Cartoon characters were often used in pop art as a way to comment on the mass media and consumer culture. For example, the artist Roy Lichtenstein created paintings and prints that were based on comic book images. His work often featured large, bold lines and bright colors, which were similar to the style of comic books. Another famous pop artist who used cartoons in his work was Andy Warhol. Warhol created a series of paintings based on the comic strip character, Superman. These paintings were meant to comment on the American fascination with superheroes and the consumer culture that surrounded them. Warhol also created a series of prints based on the famous comic book character, Mickey Mouse. Cartoons have continued to influence pop art in more recent years. The artist Takashi Murakami, for example, has created a series of paintings and sculptures based on the Japanese cartoon character, Doraemon. Murakami's work is often described as "superflat," a term that refers to the flattening of traditional Japanese art and the use of bright colors and bold lines. Murakami's use of Doraemon in his work is a nod to the influence of cartoons on Japanese popular culture. Cartoons have become a popular subject in both graffiti art and pop art. They have been used to comment on consumer culture, to add humor and satire to artwork, and to express rebellion and anti-authoritarianism. The use of cartoons in art has evolved over time, but they continue to be a powerful source of inspiration for artists today.
