  • Moon Over Biloxi- White Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY Moon Over Biloxi- White Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Moon Over Biloxi- White 1-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Fine Art Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art Famous Pop Artwork Artist. White Variant Signed & Numbered Moon Over Biloxi Screen Print 18 x 24 inches Edition of 200 July 27, 2010. "The title of this print “Moon Over Biloxi” is a tribute to the Dead Kennedy’s song “Moon Over Marin”. In 1984 I picked up maybe my 4th punk record which was the 2nd Dead Kennedy’s album “Plastic Surgery Disasters”. The album is a great listen all the way through and includes some blistering tunes like “Riot” and “Bleed For Me” laced with social commentary. The surprise song though is “Moon Over Marin”… detractors have called it the Dead Kennedy’s “U2” song, but I disagree. “Moon Over Marin” is more melodic than most DK, but juxtaposed with the darkness of the lyrics, the song evokes a powerful sense of existential melancholy. I think the concept that struck me, and stuck with me, is that our disrespect of each other and the planet may doom us, but things will continue without us. I think it is healthy to recognize impermanence, but also to appreciate the value of the ephemeral. Moonlight, real or electric, will probably be around, but what it will be casting light on is the real question. There will always be a moon over Biloxi." -Shepard

  • Force of Nature Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY Force of Nature Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Force of Nature Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled 5-Color on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 550 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print "This "Force of Nature" is both a celebration of nature and a cautionary tale. Waves are beautiful and represent a powerful, hypnotic rhythmic cycle, but waves can be incredibly destructive when energized by a storm. The semi-predictable seasonal flooding patterns from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in Mesopotamia led to fertile land and the formation of Sumer, the first civilization. Humans have thrived by studying and adapting to weather patterns. An awareness of and respect for the undulations of nature has been crucial to the development of civilization and the success of its various communities. Climate change has demonstrated what happens to civilization when nature becomes more powerful and less predictable. From hurricanes Sandy, Katrina, and many others to uncontrollable wildfires in CA, tornadoes in the midwest, and record temperatures and heat-related deaths in Europe, where many lack air-conditioning, civilization is often unequipped to deal with the global warming-fuelled force of nature. A portion of proceeds from this print go to Greenpeace USA's efforts to fight for responsible environmental policies. Thanks for caring!" -Shepard Fairey- OBEY The Artistic Significance of "Force of Nature" Shepard Fairey's "Force of Nature" is a thought-provoking silkscreen print that captures the tumultuous beauty of the natural world and the poignant message of environmental awareness. As a leading figure in street pop art and graffiti artwork, Fairey, with his OBEY brand, has often melded aesthetic appeal with social commentary, and this piece is no exception. The 2023 signed and numbered limited edition of 550, sized 18x24 inches, is a visual spectacle and a statement on the precarious balance between human civilization and the natural forces that both sustain and threaten it. "Force of Nature" is a hallmark of Fairey's work, showcasing his mastery of the silkscreen medium with a hand-pulled 5-color process on cream speckletone fine art paper. The artwork presents a wave in mid-crescendo, a snapshot of nature's raw power and grace. The contrast between the serene sky and the raging sea encapsulates the dual nature of water as both life-giving and destructive, a theme that resonates deeply in the current climate of ecological uncertainty. The piece reflects Fairey's acute awareness of the environment's rhythms and the disruptions caused by climate change. By choosing the wave as a central motif, Fairey alludes to the cycles of nature that have enabled human progress, such as the flooding of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which nourished the cradle of civilization. However, the storm-energized wave symbolizes the potential for destruction, as seen in recent natural disasters exacerbated by climate change. This duality of creation and chaos lies at the heart of the "Force of Nature" print. Environmental Advocacy Through Art Fairey's work is not content with mere representation; it seeks to galvanize action. By partnering with Greenpeace USA and dedicating some proceeds to fight for responsible environmental policies, "Force of Nature" exemplifies how art can be a change agent. The print is a clarion call to respect and adapt to the undulations of nature, emphasizing that civilization's success hinges on its ability to coexist with the Earth's powerful and unpredictable forces. The "Force of Nature" print reflects the human cost of ecological disasters, from hurricanes to wildfires, tornadoes, and extreme temperatures. Fairey's portrayal of the wave conveys the urgent need for awareness and preparedness in these challenges. It is a reminder that while nature's patterns have fostered human thriving, our current trajectory risks upsetting this delicate balance with potentially catastrophic consequences. Shepard Fairey's Ongoing Legacy in Art and Activism Shepard Fairey has consistently committed to merging his artistic endeavors with activism, and the "Force of Nature" print continues this ethos. His work in the street pop art and graffiti art scenes has often carried a message, whether advocating for peace, justice, or environmental stewardship. Fairey's legacy is one of provocation and inspiration, challenging viewers to engage with critical issues through art. "Force of Nature" is a testament to Fairey's artistic skill and his role as a cultural commentator and environmental advocate. Through its evocative imagery and message, the print underscores the potential for art to transcend aesthetic boundaries and become a catalyst for social and ecological progress. In the broader context of street pop art and graffiti artwork, "Force of Nature" exemplifies how these art forms can contribute to meaningful conversations. Fairey's print invites discourse on our relationship with the planet, urging a collective reevaluation of how we interact with the forces that shape our existence. Art can inform, influence, and incite through works like this, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of our civilization and our world.

  • Social Distancing Archival Print by Ben Frost

Ben Frost Social Distancing Archival Print by Ben Frost

Social Distancing Simpsons Archival Pigment Fine Art Limited Edition Print on 310gsm Bauhaus Cotton Rag Paper by Artist Ben Frost, Street Pop Art Graffiti. 2020 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 40 Artwork Size 12x12. Ben Frost (b. 1975) Social Distancing, 2020 Archival digital print on Bauhaus Cotton Rag Stock paper 12 x 12 inches (30.5 x 30.5 cm) (sheet) Ed. 40 is signed and numbered in pencil along the lower edge and published by the artist. Intersecting Pop Culture and Social Commentary Ben Frost's "Social Distancing Simpsons" archival pigment fine art print is a piercing examination of contemporary society through the lens of street pop art and graffiti. This limited edition print, numbered and signed, reflects Frost's unique and often controversial approach to his art, blending pop culture icons with subversive messaging. Created in 2020, "Social Distancing Simpsons" is a compelling artwork set against the backdrop of a global pandemic, a time when social distancing became a ubiquitous part of life. By incorporating a familiar character from "The Simpsons," Frost taps into the collective consciousness and comments on the impact of societal changes on popular culture. The choice of using archival digital print on Bauhaus Cotton Rag Stock paper, a high-quality material, ensures that the vibrancy of the piece and the precision of its details are preserved. The image of the Simpson's character juxtaposed with a pharmaceutical label indicates Frost's style, often involving the fusion of disparate elements to create a jarring yet thought-provoking visual statement. This 12 x 12 inches print is a perfect square that captures the essence of Frost's artistic statement: a critique of consumerism, mental health, and the pharmaceutical industry. Ben Frost's Signature Style Frost's work is characterized by his unflinching willingness to confront and challenge viewers with uncomfortable truths about modern life. In "Social Distancing Simpsons," the collision of the cartoon world with the stark reality of medication speaks to a generation that finds solace in nostalgia while grappling with present-day anxieties. With its limited edition of 40, the artwork becomes a collector's piece, a snapshot of an era defined by isolation and the search for connection. Reflection of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Frost's art is a reflection of street pop art and graffiti in its directness and its utilization of visual language that is immediate and accessible. Incorporating street art aesthetics into fine art prints blurs the lines between high art and more democratic expressions in urban environments. "Social Distancing Simpsons" is a testament to the power of this genre to communicate beyond words, offering a visual critique that is both universal and deeply personal. In summary, "Social Distancing Simpsons" by Ben Frost is more than just an artwork; it is a commentary on the times, a mirror held up to the complexities and contradictions of contemporary life. Through his expert blending of pop culture references with cutting social commentary, Frost solidifies his place as a significant voice in street pop art and graffiti artwork. This piece, in particular, stands as a poignant reminder of 2020, capturing the essence of a moment that has left an indelible mark on society.

Lynval Golding & Team Specials, Billy Idol, Jane Wiedlin, Tim Armstrong, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, Adrian Young, Fishbone, Jerry Harrison, Tre Cool, Fred Armisen, Jesse Michaels. Donita Sparks. The Jg All-Stars. Bite Me Bambi. Record Safari Gig Poster "Terry Hall, singer of the Specials, one of my favorite bands, died of pancreatic cancer a little less than a year ago. This past Saturday, Musack did an amazing tribute to Terry with a bonkers lineup, including Horace Panter and Lynval Golding of the Specials, Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s, Fishbone, No Doubt (except Gwen), Tom Morello, Tim Armstrong and Jesse Michaels of Operation Ivy, Donita Sparks of L7, and others! I fell in love with the Specials in the summer of 1989, around the time I started listening to Operation Ivy and Fishbone, so to have members of all those bands celebrating Terry was incredible! I was also able to do the poster for the event based on a beautiful photo by Chalkie Davies. There are two versions of the print, one with the event lineup included and another that is a simpler tribute to Terry. The black and white print are editions of 325, but the show lineup print is a smaller quantity (edition of 300) because many were sold at the event, and all proceeds from those benefit Musack, an excellent music charity for kids. On a personal note, Terry came by my studio a couple of times, and we talked for hours. He was kind, thoughtful, and very open about life’s ups and downs. We talked about kids, mental health, insecurity, relationships, the therapeutic benefits of creativity, and many other heavy topics. He was a kindred spirit who I thought I’d be friends with for many years. This print was done with love… thanks for the tunes Terry!" -Shepard Fairey- OBEY MUSACK's tribute to the legendary Terry Hall, the iconic singer of the Specials, is encapsulated in a visually arresting silkscreen print crafted by Shepard Fairey, renowned for his OBEY art movement. This piece, hand-pulled in 2-color on True White Speckletone Fine Art Paper, is a testament to the profound influence Terry Hall had on the music industry and its fans. The artwork is an exquisite fusion of pop art, street art, and graffiti art, embodying the very essence of Terry Hall's spirit and impact on the world. Released in 2023 as a signed and numbered limited edition, with only 300 prints in circulation, the artwork measures 18x24 inches. The artistry is profound, drawing inspiration from a poignant photograph Chalkie Davies took. Two versions of this print exist, one showcasing an event lineup and the other serving as a more streamlined homage to Hall. While the black and white prints are available in editions of 325, the one bearing the event lineup is more exclusive, with a count of 300, many of which were already acquired during the event. The backstory of this piece is equally captivating. MUSACK's heartfelt tribute event celebrated Terry's life, boasting a staggering lineup of eminent musicians, from Horace Panter and Lynval Golding of the Specials to Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s, Fishbone, and members of No Doubt, among others. Shepard Fairey's interactions with Terry add depth to the artwork. Terry, in his visits to Shepard's studio, revealed layers of his personality, discussing topics ranging from mental health to the therapeutic nature of creativity. Shepard saw him as a kindred spirit, and their interactions were laden with deep understanding and mutual respect. This artwork, hence, is not just an aesthetic masterpiece but a heartfelt tribute, reverberating with the essence of Terry Hall's life and legacy.

Many of my well-known images, including the Obey Icon Face, were created using an X-acto, a marker, a photocopier, and cut and paste techniques before I knew how to use a computer. The computer is a great tool, but it can be too safe and sterile… Don’t be afraid to cut things up, make mistakes, and get some overspray on pristine paper!" -Shepard Fairey
