Created by the inimitable Frank Kozik, renowned for his poster art, this artwork is more than a mere decoration - it serves as a testament to the era it embodies, an artifact of the vibrant street art culture of the late 20th century. Hand-pulled on high-quality fine art paper, this print radiates a raw, authentic feel. Its dimensions, 22.5x17.5 inches, make it a robust statement piece. It depicts a muscle car engaged in an electrifying burnout, a bold image that vibrates with the punk-infused energy of the Nomads' music and the rebellious street art spirit that Kozik champions. The imagery is both a tribute to the heady power of the automobile and a symbol of the band's audacious spirit. This piece doesn't merely commemorate a concert, but a particular moment in time and the cultural shifts happening within it. The explosive vehicular illustration is a tangible representation of the era's energy, capturing the essence of the Nomads' music, and the fiery spirit of Kozik's artistry. The juxtaposition of a refined fine art print with a subject steeped in grit and rebellion makes for a captivating paradox. The 1996 Nomads 15th Anniversary silkscreen print by Frank Kozik is indeed a hallmark of pop street art, a tangible connection to a pulsating past.

Ben Frost DJ Qbert Archival Print by Ben Frost x Denial- Daniel Bombardier

DJ Qbert Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Ben Frost, Denial, DJ Qbert Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. Canadian artist Denial and Australian-born Ben Frost have joined forces in a bold exhibition of new work that explores the boundaries of appropriation, in confronting re-imaginings of our current dystopian society. "Company of Thieves" at Inner State Gallery in Detroit with special guest DJ Qbert. These self-confessed ‘visual thieves have a long history of stealing and subverting the cultural icons that the advertising and consumerist world has thrust upon us, creating new and pertinent interpretations that are as confronting as they are humorous. This collaboration with DJ Qbert carries on with this theme as all 3 artists join together as a Company of Thieves, sampling and remixing to create something entirely new. Ben Frost is utilizing imagery familiar to western culture in order to make a statement about the culture itself on the basis of consumerism, modern icons, big corporations, etc. Animation characters, pop icons, brand logos, and many more are transformed into vibrant artworks and find their place in galleries. With this in mind, and in the case of Ben Frost, it is futile to try to identify a clear borderline between low and high art. In reality, the artist wants the audience to think on the terms of high or low value and, by extension, what these actually mean. Over the years street artists have managed to establish themselves as respected creators and some of them have even gained international fame, transforming graffiti from a fringe art, aiming sometimes to mark street gangs’ territory, into big business.

We used very different color palettes in our murals there so we decided that since we both liked black, red, and silver – that we could put our chromatic differences aside and join forces on those three colors for the print. I’d still recommend seeing the murals in person if you have the opportunity, but this print is an avatar I can be proud of. All of the prints are signed by me and D*Face so you know that meant they had to travel to Spain and back – luckily, they’re all in good shape. • The Lonesome Crowded West Apt Block Modest Mouse Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY The Lonesome Crowded West Apt Block Modest Mouse Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

The Lonesome Crowded West Apt Block Modest Mouse Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled 5-Color on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2022 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 825 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print Apartment Block Urban City Building Stylized. "I’m really happy that Modest Mouse asked me to create some limited edition posters for their tour commemorating the 25th anniversary of their 1997 album The Lonesome Crowded West. I first heard Modest Mouse in 1998. I borrowed a friend’s copy of the album The Lonesome Crowded West, which had come out the year before, and it grew on me quickly to become a favorite. The whole album is great, very multi-dimensional ranging from aggressive and dissonant on songs like “Teeth Like God’s Shoeshine” to folky, jangly, and intimate on “Trailer Trash.” My two favorite songs on The Lonesome Crowded West are “Doin’ the Cockroach,” which builds steadily into an exhilarating staccato guitar frenzy, and the song that follows it, “Cowboy Dan,” which is full of tension, struggle, anger, and beauty. Lyrically, the band’s singer and primary songwriter, Isaac Brock, comes across as an empathetic world-weary sage. I rarely call someone a poet, but Isaac wrote with such depth for someone only 23 years old that I think poet is the only title that properly conveys his elevated craft as a lyricist. I got to do Modest Mouse’s 2000 Black Glass tour poster, which was a huge deal for me." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY In the pantheon of street art, few names are as synonymous with the movement's thrust into mainstream culture as Shepard Fairey. His collaboration with the band Modest Mouse for their tour poster celebrates a milestone—the 25th anniversary of their seminal album, "The Lonesome Crowded West." In true Fairey fashion, he interprets the album's ethos with a limited edition silkscreen print, meticulously hand-pulled with five colors on Cream Speckletone fine art paper. This process ensures each of the 825 pieces is imbued with the artist's personal touch. Measuring 18x24 inches, this signed and numbered print presents an apartment block—an urban icon that exemplifies the crowded isolation in the album's title. Fairey's stylized depiction of the apartment block resonates with the band’s exploration of the paradoxical loneliness of urban existence, embodying the spirit of Modest Mouse's music through visual art. His work is not merely an artistic rendition but a narrative of city life's juxtapositions—connectivity and isolation, sound and silence. This collaboration is particularly significant for Fairey, who has been a fan of Modest Mouse since 1998. The album left an indelible mark on him, with its tonal shifts from the raucous "Teeth Like God's Shoeshine" to the more subdued "Trailer Trash." Fairey extols Isaac Brock's songwriting, acknowledging the profound depth and poetic nature of his lyrics, especially considering Brock's youth. The two tracks that stood out to Fairey, "Doin' the Cockroach" and "Cowboy Dan," exemplify the album's range and Brock's lyrical prowess. Fairey's history with Modest Mouse dates back to the 2000 "Black Glass" tour poster, reinforcing his long-standing connection with the band. This print is another chapter in that narrative, solidifying the kinship between his visual art and their musical expression. The artwork is a tangible piece of pop culture history, intertwining the legacy of Fairey's street art with Modest Mouse's contribution to music. Collectors of Fairey’s work and fans of the band alike cherish this print as a symbol of the enduring relevance of "The Lonesome Crowded West" and the power of art to transcend mediums, capturing the essence of an era.

Bad Brains Punk Showcase Rasta AP Artist Proof 5-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckle Tone Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist For Musicians Bad Brains. AP Artist Proof 2016 Signed & Marked AP Limited Edition Artwork Size 18x24 Shepard Fairey's "Bad Brains Punk Showcase Rasta AP" is a culturally potent piece within the street pop and graffiti art landscape. As an artist proof of the limited edition series, this 5-color hand-pulled silkscreen print on cream speckle tone paper measures 18x24 inches and was released in 2016. Signed and marked as an artist-proof (AP), it is a collector's piece that delves into the pulsating heart of punk's ethos and reggae's rasta vibrations, manifested through the lens of Fairey's distinct style. This artwork resonates with the energy of Bad Brains, a band that epitomized the hardcore punk scene with its unique blend of punk and reggae, a hybrid that paralleled Fairey's melding of art forms. The print captures the band's spirit with the commanding phrase "Positive Mental Attitude!" a mantra that Bad Brains championed throughout their career. Fairey's work is a visual echo of this ethos, presenting the band members with a backdrop of rasta colors, which not only allude to their music's roots but also serve as a nod to a broader cultural movement. Fairey, known for his influence on street pop art through works like the iconic "OBEY" campaign and the Obama "HOPE" poster, continues his exploration of music's intersection with visual art in this print. The piece is saturated with the motifs of Fairey's "OBEY Propaganda" — the star, the bold lettering, and the stylized imagery. These elements merge, not promote a band, and celebrate an entire cultural movement, reflecting the potency of street pop art in capturing and promoting subcultural movements. The "Bad Brains Punk Showcase Rasta AP" print symbolizes Fairey's engagement with the punk scene and his ability to encapsulate its raw, unfiltered voice within his work. It's a testament to the enduring dialogue between music and visual art, which Fairey has continually fostered through his prints, murals, and street art. This piece doesn't just hang on a wall; it screams with the voice of a movement, echoing from the underground clubs to the sun-soaked streets where street art and graffiti have long found their home.

Diving deeper into the artwork, one cannot overlook its size – an impressive 18x24 inches – that commands attention and ensures that the details and nuances are not lost on the viewer. The choice of the Calavera, or skull, as a motif is not arbitrary. Captain Cool Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Stanley Mouse pop culture LSD artwork. 2021 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 135 Artwork Size 7.5x7.5 "Captain Cool Blotter Paper" is a limited edition work by the renowned artist Stanley Mouse, whose contributions to pop culture and psychedelic art are well-documented. This piece, signed and numbered as part of a limited run of 135, was released in 2021 and is a prime example of archival pigment print art on perforated blotter paper, a medium with deep roots in the countercultural movements of the 1960s and 70s. The artwork, measuring 7.5x7.5 inches, portrays a hauntingly beautiful skull adorned with vibrant red roses, invoking themes of mortality and beauty reminiscent of the Mexican Day of the Dead iconography. The skull, a motif often explored in Mouse's work, is not just a symbol of death but also of life's vibrancy, contrasting the ephemeral existence with the timeless allure of art. Mouse, recognized for his role in shaping the visual language of the psychedelic movement through concert posters and album covers, brings his distinctive style to the realm of street pop art and graffiti. "Captain Cool" continues this legacy, blending classic iconography with modern techniques to produce a piece that resonates with historical significance and contemporary appeal. This artwork is not merely a decorative piece; it is steeped in the tradition of blotter art, which has often served as both a canvas for artistic expression and a medium for psychedelic compounds. The collectible nature of such prints, combined with the cultural weight they carry, makes them a significant addition to the world of street pop art and graffiti, symbolizing the crossover between underground artistry and mainstream recognition. Stanley Mouse's "Captain Cool Blotter Paper" is a testament to the enduring influence of psychedelic art in contemporary culture and its ability to comment on deeper themes through street pop art and graffiti. His work captures the essence of a genre that continues to challenge, inspire, and provoke thought through its bold visuals and subversive undertones.

There is a violent history of police dogs being used to attack civil rights protesters, which contrasts intensely with the blissful perspective of white dog owners who pamper their dogs and hire dog walkers. Some of us never have to think about how the police abuse their power more frequently in non-white and lower-income communities. Open Minds 4-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckletone Art Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist. Signed & Numbered Screen Print OPEN MINDS 36 inches by 24 inches Edition of 675 February 3, 2022 Handling Creases to Bottom Left & Right Margins. This “Open Minds” print references the language used by the powerful fuel industry lobby to soften political and public resistance to fracking. Fracking is a form of gas extraction which beyond the carbon impact of the gas itself, contaminates groundwater, pollutes the air, and creates strains on water resources because of the high volume of water required for the fracking process. Open-mindedness about any of those detrimental impacts of fracking and other fossil fuel extraction is absurd if one cares about the environment, air and water quality, and global warming. Powerful corporations and their lobbyists spend exorbitant sums to distract from and discredit the science-based conversation about the environment. I’m all for open minds and open eyes when it comes to putting science and the welfare of the planet before corporate profits. A portion of the proceeds from this print will benefit Greenpeace to support its work to enhance environmental protections and combat climate change. – Shepard

District Line. "Bob Mould was the guitar player and co-songwriter of Husker Du, one of the most progressive hardcore/indy bands of the '80s. Originally one of the most successful bands on SST records, they were among the first American indie bands to sign to a major label. They are credited with paving the way for bands like Sonic Youth, The Pixies, and Nirvana. I borrowed Husker Du's Zen Arcade album from a friend in my 10th-grade year and quickly collected the rest of their catalog. I especially recommend their album Flip Your Wig. After Husker Du broke up, Bob formed Sugar and now performs solo. His new album District Line is awesome." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY Shepard Fairey's Tribute to Bob Mould: Merging Music and Street Art The Bob Mould AP Signed Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey, a figure synonymous with OBEY and a towering presence in street pop art, is a limited edition artwork that pays homage to Bob Mould's profound influence on the music scene. Henry is a role model in his amazing taste and output in music, his political engagement, his monumental work ethic, and his social consciousness. Henry tours a ton and stays very aware of the world. Back before the 2008 recession started, Henry had an editorial segment on his TV show where he said “the president says the fundamentals of the economy are strong…I say start learning Chinese”. Henry’s new tour is called CAPITALISM and I’m sure he will have a lot of wise, funny, and maybe prophetic things to say. I was given the honor by Henry of illustrating his concept for the tour, him as a beaten-down Uncle Sam. I have a few of the prints available on my site signed by both me and Henry. The rest will be available on Henry’s tour which everyone should see. Pick a print up before the American brand of capitalism crumbles under the weight of its own ego. -Shepard Fairey

Red Color Graffiti Street Pop Artwork

Red: A Bold Statement in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Red in the Spectrum of Street Art Expression

Red, often seen as the most assertive and dynamic of all colors, casts its passionate hue across the expansive canvas of street pop art and graffiti artwork. With its bold nature, red is not just a color—it's a declaration, a visual exclamation that demands attention and conveys intensity. Its application in the urban art scene is diverse, from the deepest burgundies to the brightest scarlets, each shade imbued with its unique energy and symbolism.

Techniques and Textures: Red's Artistic Flexibility

Artistically, red's versatility is found in its ability to stand alone and its power to accentuate when paired with other colors. The techniques employed by street artists to apply red vary greatly, from aerosol sprays that offer a misty overlay to bold brush strokes that provide texture and depth. Red in street pop art is not merely a visual tool; it's a tactile experience. The texture of red paint can range from glossy finishes that reflect the city's lights to matte surfaces that absorb and soften the intensity of the hue, each technique chosen to convey a specific message or feeling.

Cultural Resonance of Red in Urban Imagery

Culturally, red has a potent resonance, often associated with powerful emotions and ideas such as love, anger, danger, and strength. Street pop art and graffiti leverage these associations to deliver impactful artwork that can resonate universally. The color red is frequently utilized to draw the viewer's focus to critical elements of a piece, highlighting areas the artist deems most significant or using the color's signal-like quality to convey cautionary messages and urgent statements.

Compositional Strategies with Red in Art

Regarding composition, red's role in street pop and graffiti artwork is multifaceted. It can starkly contrast cooler hues, creating a visual disruption that can energize or unsettle the viewer. Conversely, when red is set against warmer tones, it can evoke feelings of warmth and comfort. The strategic placement of red within a piece can alter the viewer's perception of space, with deeper reds receding in the visual field and brighter reds advancing, a technique artists use to create movement and depth.

Symbolic Use of Red in Street Pop Art and Graffiti

Symbolically, red is laden with meaning in the context of street pop art and graffiti. It's a color that signifies everything from political affiliations to personal identity. In the urban landscape, where art serves as a voice for the voiceless, red is often the color of choice for expressing defiance and resilience. Its application is deliberate, with artists selecting the shade of red that best communicates the spirit of their message.

Evolution of Red in Urban Artistic Practice

As we consider the evolution of color used in street art, red's significance only seems to amplify. Its historical use in political and protest art continues to influence contemporary artists, who see red as a means of connecting with a rich legacy of visual activism. With advances in paint technology and application methods, the vibrancy and longevity of red in street art have increased, allowing it to maintain its potency and message over time, even in the face of environmental challenges. Red's place in street pop art and graffiti is undeniable. It is a color that can elevate a piece from mere visual noise to a poignant statement. Its shades can signify many themes and messages, from the urgency of revolution to the pulse of love that beats through city streets. As an element of the urban visual lexicon, red is as essential as the very walls it adorns, a color that will continue to be used to captivate, communicate, and challenge viewers around the world.
