We used very different color palettes in our murals there so we decided that since we both liked black, red, and silver – that we could put our chromatic differences aside and join forces on those three colors for the print. I’d still recommend seeing the murals in person if you have the opportunity, but this print is an avatar I can be proud of. All of the prints are signed by me and D*Face so you know that meant they had to travel to Spain and back – luckily, they’re all in good shape. Thanks to the CAC Málaga for facilitating such a great show for both of us! -Shepard

  • Sale -33% Vogue Black Silkscreen Print by Stinkfish

Stinkfish Vogue Black Silkscreen Print by Stinkfish

Vogue- Black Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Fine Art Paper by Stinkfish Rare Street Art Famous Pop Artwork Artist. 2015 Signed & Numbered Vogue by Stinkfish Screen Print Edition of 60 | Signed by the Artist Size: 18" x 24" City: Bogata, Colombia. The first release was based on a Spanish language magazine Stinkfish had found - the second is based on an English language magazine they had found for him. His lively detailing abstract redefines the glamor and beauty of Kate Moss. Stinkfish and the Evolution of Street Pop Art The Colombian street artist, Stinkfish has carved a unique space for himself in contemporary art. His works, often characterized by vibrant colors and intricate stencils, reflect the dynamic energy of street culture. One of his notable contributions to the art world is a limited edition silkscreen print on fine art paper titled "Vogue," a work that seamlessly blends street art's rawness with pop culture's polished aesthetics. This particular piece from Stinkfish pays homage to the iconography of fashion magazines, explicitly drawing inspiration from a Vogue cover. It's a rare street art piece that elevates the familiar image of a fashion model to a work of famous pop artwork. Created in 2015, this signed and numbered screen print is part of an exclusive series, with only 60 editions made available, each measuring 18" x 24". The art was conceptualized in Bogota, Colombia, and it represents a significant departure from Stinkfish's often more spontaneously created public murals. The Artistic Process Behind Stinkfish's "Vogue" The "Vogue" silkscreen print by Stinkfish is particularly notable for its process and backstory. The inception of the artwork is rooted in the discovery of a Spanish-language magazine that caught the artist's eye. Later, a second iteration was based on an English language magazine provided for him, suggesting a narrative that spans cultures and languages. This cross-cultural journey is central to understanding the piece, reflecting the globalized nature of both street art and fashion. The artwork showcases Stinkfish's signature style, with intricate black patterns overlaying the photograph, transforming the image into something more abstract and lively. The patterns vibrate with life, giving the piece a kinetic energy that redefines the glamour and beauty associated with the fashion model, reportedly Kate Moss. Stinkfish's work disrupts the conventional portrayal of fashion figures, infusing them with a rebellious and celebratory spirit. Impact and Significance of "Vogue" in Street Pop Art "Vogue" is a testament to street pop art's transformative power. Stinkfish's approach to the piece—taking a symbol of high culture and reinterpreting it through the lens of street art—challenges perceptions of value and beauty in the art world. By incorporating elements of graffiti artwork, the print becomes a commentary on the permeable boundaries between high and low culture, between the exclusive elite of fashion and the inclusive, democratic nature of street art. The limited edition nature of "Vogue" also speaks to the changing landscape of art collection. Traditionally, street art is ephemeral, often illegal, and created in the public eye. By transferring his work onto fine art paper and limiting its production, Stinkfish bridges the gap between the fleeting nature of street art and the permanence sought by collectors. This rare edition allows for broader access to his work and elevates the status of street art within the fine art market. Stinkfish's "Vogue": A Cultural Intersection Stinkfish's "Vogue" silkscreen print is much more than a collectible piece of art; it is a cultural artifact that embodies the intersection of diverse artistic worlds. It encapsulates the essence of street pop art and graffiti artwork while respecting the polished world of fashion. This print is not merely a representation of a fashion icon but a redefined image that challenges the viewer to see beyond the surface and appreciate street art's underlying vibrancy and complexity. As such, "Vogue" by Stinkfish is a significant contribution to the discourse on the value and place of street art in contemporary culture.

Wild Vanity- Red Hand-Pulled Limited Edition 5-Color Silkscreen Print on Cougar Natural Paper by Stinkfish Rare Street Art Famous Pop Artwork Artist. 2014 Signed & Numbered Wild Vanity by Stinkfish Screen Print Edition of 65 | Signed by the Artist Size: 18" x 22.5" City: Bogata, Colombia. Stinkfish's "Wild Vanity": A Vibrant Fusion in Street Pop Art "Wild Vanity" emerges as an exceptional creation from Stinkfish, an artist renowned for his vivid street pop art and graffiti artwork. This piece represents a striking amalgamation of the artist's signature stencil style with the vibrant color palette that often characterizes his work. Hand-pulled and limited to a series of 65, "Wild Vanity" is a five-color silkscreen print on Cougar Natural paper that showcases Stinkfish's exploration into the vibrancy of human features juxtaposed with the abstract patterns that define his artistic expression. Crafted in 2014 and sized at 18" x 22.5", "Wild Vanity" was brought to life at FugScreens Studios, known for its exceptional screenprinting work. The artist's choice of Cougar Natural paper—a high-quality, uncoated stock—serves as the perfect canvas for the print, ensuring that the colors remain vivid and the details sharp. Each hand-pulled print is signed and numbered by Stinkfish, offering a tangible connection to the artist's hand and vision. The Artistic Language of Stinkfish in "Wild Vanity" The artistic language Stinkfish employs in "Wild Vanity" is bold and subtle. The reds are not merely hues but are symbolic expressions of energy and passion. The silkscreen method allows for a layering effect that gives each color its own space to breathe while contributing to the overall unity of the piece. This technique indicates Stinkfish's roots in graffiti, a world where color, form, and space beautify com, communicate, and resonate with the onlooker. Stinkfish's work is often characterized by found photographs and images from the streets, which he recontextualizes by adding his distinctive stenciled patterns. "Wild Vanity" is no exception. The faces in the artwork appear to be lifted from an existing narrative, a snippet of a larger story that the viewer is invited to ponder. The overlay of intricate patterns across the faces transforms the subjects, commenting on the masks we wear and the identities we portray. Cultural Implications of "Wild Vanity" in Contemporary Art "Wild Vanity" stands at the crossroads of multiple cultural narratives. It is not just a visual feast but an artistic statement that delves into the essence of identity and perception in the modern world. Through the five-color silkscreen print, Stinkfish challenges the traditional boundaries between high art and street art, merging them into a singular expression that is both accessible and complex. The work's title, "Wild Vanity," hints at a critique of self-obsession and the constructed images prevalent in society. Using a fashion magazine cover as the foundation for this piece, Stinkfish engages in a dialogue with the viewer about the nature of beauty and the role of media in shaping our understanding of it. The wildness comes from the disruptive patterns that cascade over the faces, suggesting a tension between the natural human essence and the artificial veneer of societal standards. Collectibility and Influence of Stinkfish's Silkscreen Prints As a collectible, "Wild Vanity" represents an essential piece of Stinkfish's portfolio, encapsulating his distinct style and thematic concerns. The limited edition nature of the print makes it a coveted item for collectors and enthusiasts of street pop art. Stinkfish's influence extends beyond the street corners of Bogota, Colombia—his work is recognized globally, and pieces like "Wild Vanity" are pivotal in understanding the trajectory of his artistic journey. The print is also a testament to the evolution of street art into a recognized and celebrated form of fine art. By bringing the techniques and aesthetics of street art into the controlled environment of the studio and then onto fine art paper, Stinkfish bridges worlds, offering a piece that is as much at home in a gallery as on the streets. In the context of pop, street art, and graffiti artwork, "Wild Vanity" is a vibrant example of how these genres can intersect to create works that reflect contemporary culture and are timeless in their appeal. Stinkfish's ability to communicate through layers of color and pattern ensures that "Wild Vanity" will remain a significant and thought-provoking piece within the ever-evolving narrative of art.

Painter Girl Original Pop Modern Street Art Ballpoint Pen and Collage Drawing on Fine Art Paper by Artist James Wilson. 2022 Signed Original Drawing. Ballpoint Pen, Cut Out Paper, Newspaper and Collage Size: 5.875 x 8.25 Inches Release: February 10, 2022 "The term 'Off the Grid' comes with a romanticized view of self-sustainability, getting back to nature and going back to 'a simpler time', this often neglects the forgotten trappings involved with stepping outside of your comfort zone. "This body of work can be seen as an aesthetic and thematic sequel to the previous 'Breakups and Breakdowns' collection where the idea of a broken relationship was the focus, it’s now been shifted to exploring new uncharted territory. Building on the pen on paper approach by physically cutting windows into the pieces takes them outside of the known and familiar into experimental and uncharted territory. "These works continue to look at escapism through different lenses whether it's a digital realm achieved by VR, the hopes poured into crypto, liquid courage found in alcohol or the distracting thrill gained by high risk environments, they all offer a reward but also contain their own risks. It’s through exploring outside the comforts of the safe and known without the usual safety nets where you find danger and risk, but the unknown is also where the most potential and growth can be found." –James Wilson

This duo variant is particularly notable for its matte finish and embossed texture, accentuating the tactile experience of viewing the artwork. The embossing technique, traditionally not associated with street art, exemplifies how Garant is pushing the boundaries of street pop art, adding a physical dimension to the visual narrative. Intersecting Worlds: The Limited Edition Impact and Its Place in Art Collecting The concept of limited edition works such as "Wearing Your Dreams" profoundly impacts the perception and value of street pop art and graffiti artwork. Signing each print further infuses the artwork with a direct connection to the creator, an aspect deeply appreciated in the art community. In street art, using fine art paper as a substrate is a deliberate choice, bridging the divide between an ephemeral art form often seen on public walls and the lasting nature sought by collectors. This choice showcases Garant's respect for street art traditions while elevating the work to a collector's item. The matte finish, in contrast to the often glossy street art prints, invites viewers to focus on the depth of the artwork without the distraction of reflection, allowing the embossed details to stand out, further defining its uniqueness. The Narrative of "Wearing Your Dreams" and Its Cultural Resonance "Wearing Your Dreams" is more than its physical attributes; it is an artistic narrative that speaks to the core of street pop art and graffiti artwork. The piece is a metaphor for how we present ourselves to the world, the dreams we wear like garments, and the dualities we embody. The duo variant suggests a duality within the subject, a common theme in Garant's work, where the visible self and the inner self are in dialogue, a concept that resonates with the authenticity and raw expression found in street art. In the larger tapestry of street pop art, Garant's "Wearing Your Dreams" contributes to the conversation about the evolving identity of this art form. While street art has its roots in the provocative, often clandestine acts of creativity on public surfaces, it has grown to embrace more nuanced, introspective explorations of self and society. With its contemplative expression and depth of gaze, this artwork invites the audience to pause and reflect—a quiet yet powerful rebellion against the fleeting consumption of images in the digital age. Legacy and Future: "Wearing Your Dreams" within the Artistic Canon As street pop art and graffiti artwork continue to evolve, "Wearing Your Dreams" will undoubtedly hold a place in the progression of this artistic movement. Its limited nature, signature by the artist, and the tactile quality of its embossing set a precedent for what modern street art can be—intimate, collectible, and rich with meaning. Garant's work, especially this piece, will be remembered for its ability to straddle the line between accessibility and exclusivity, a quality that is becoming increasingly significant in a world where art is omnipresent yet often ephemeral. In sum, Alex Garant's "Wearing Your Dreams" captures the essence of street pop art's transformative power. It represents a moment in time where the artist's vision and the cultural context converge to create a piece that is both a personal statement and a universal conversation starter. For collectors, owning one of the 25 prints is not just an investment in art; it is an embrace of a narrative that is ever-unfolding, a dialogue between the streets and the sanctified halls of fine art, a dream made tangible through the medium of street pop art and graffiti artwork.

In this limited edition print, Garant channels the same spirit of rebellion and subversion, transforming a classical portrait into something enigmatic and accessible. Furthermore, the artwork's title, "Another Dusk," suggests themes of transition and reflection. The twilight hours, often a time of introspection, are perfectly encapsulated in the duplicity of the portrait's expression. Garant's work encourages the viewer to contemplate the transitional moments in life, the interplay between light and shadow, and the multifaceted nature of the self. "Another Dusk" is not just an artwork; it's a visual exploration of the transitional states that define the human experience. In the landscape of modern art, "Another Du" by Alex G"rant is a shining example of how the mediums of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork can be elevated to new heights. Through her innovative use of double imagery and the emotional resonance of her subjects, Garant challenges viewers to engage with art on a more profound level. The limited edition giclée print is a bold statement in the artist’s artist, capturing dusk's fleeting beauty and the human spirit's duality. With its intimate size, matte finish, and embossed features, "Another Du" is not on"y, a piece of art but a conversation piece that continues to speak volumes about the ever-changing face of contemporary art.

Screenprint on thick cream Speckletone paper. Numbered edition of 550. "I was very excited to meet and collaborate with Melanie Nissen because, as co-founder of Slash magazine, she photographed some of the most important figures and moments in the early LA punk scene—a scene that dramatically impacted me as a creative person. Nissen’s new book of her punk photos from 1977-1980, Hard+Fast, is beautifully designed and full of amazing images. After some serious deliberation, I decided I’d like to make an illustration of Alice Bag. I first encountered Alice Bag as a teen in Penelope Spheeris’ documentary “The Decline of Western Civilization,” but The Bags did not put out a lot of music, and it was hard to find. However, in reading books about the LA punk scene like “We Got The Neutron Bomb” and “Lexicon Devil,” as well as the Slash magazine book, I realized that Alice was a very important figure in the LA scene who has continued to make great music and is an outspoken champion of LatinX and feminist causes. She’s also a very nice person. I’m glad to celebrate Alice for her contributions to culture then and now. If you are unfamiliar with The Bags, I’d recommend picking up “All Bagged Up… The Collected Works 1977-1980.” – Shepard

Published by Stolen Space Gallery, London The Fusion of Classic and Contemporary in D*Face's 'Run Away' D*Face, the pseudonym of the British street artist Dean Stockton, has long been a prominent name in street pop art and graffiti artwork. His work 'Run Away' is a notable entry in his oeuvre, a hand-pulled 10-color silkscreen print on the revered Lambeth Drawing Cartridge paper. This 2020 signed and numbered limited edition piece exemplifies the artist's commitment to blending street art's insurgent energy with traditional printmaking's craftsmanship. Technical Brilliance and Thematic Depth in 'Run Away' At 39-1/2 x 27-1/4 inches, 'Run Away' is grand in scale and intricate in detail. The piece captures a moment of passionate embrace, yet the figures are depicted with elements of dissolution, perhaps suggesting the fleeting nature of love or the ephemeral quality of relationships. The artwork's narrative is enhanced by its visual complexity—the use of a 10-color palette allows for a vibrant depth of image. The choice of Lambeth Drawing Cartridge paper is crucial to the print's allure. Known for its heavy weight and superior quality, the paper is an excellent foundation for silkscreen. It allows for a crisp transfer of ink and a vibrancy of color that lesser papers could not hold. The Lambeth paper complements D*Face's bold lines and sharp contrasts, ensuring that each print from the limited edition of 150 retains the clarity and impact of the original design. D*Face's Place in the Pantheon of Pop Art DFace's 'Run Away' reflects the artist's position in the pop art landscape. Born in 1978, DFace has witnessed the evolution of street art from a subculture to a globally recognized form of artistic expression. His work often contains commentary on consumerism, fame, and the mechanics of the art world, all deftly woven into 'Run Away.' The artist's signature style blends comic book-inspired aesthetics with a critical lens on modern society, giving him acclaim and space in galleries worldwide. 'Run Away,' published by Stolen Space Gallery in London, is a piece that encapsulates D*Face's mastery over his medium and message. It is a work that invites contemplation on the nature of modern romance, the icons of pop culture, and the art of silkscreen printing. The Lasting Impact of 'Run Away' in Modern Art DFace's 'Run Away' holds a distinguished place in modern art, bridging the gap between the raw expressiveness of street art and the precision of fine art printmaking. The artwork, framed within a large custom frame and mat, is designed to make a statement, whether displayed in a gallery or a private collection. The use of Lambeth Drawing Cartridge paper is a testament to DFace's respect for quality and tradition, even as he pushes the boundaries of art with his innovative and provocative style. The piece is not merely a visual treat; it is a cultural artifact that encapsulates the spirit of the times. With 'Run Away,' D*Face contributes to the ongoing conversation about the place and value of street pop art within the larger artistic narrative. Woman Female Graffiti Street Pop Artwork

The Representation of Women in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

The representation of women in street pop art and graffiti artwork has been a dynamic and evolving subject, reflecting the shifts in societal attitudes and the growing consciousness around gender issues. From the provocative works of the 1970s and 1980s to today's more inclusive and diverse expressions, the depiction of women in these art forms has ranged from objectification and idealization to empowerment and celebration. These visual articulations, splashed across public spaces, serve not only as reflections of the artists' perceptions but also as commentaries on women's roles, struggles, and achievements in society. In the earlier days of street art and graffiti, women were often portrayed through the lens of the male gaze, reduced to symbols of beauty or desire within a predominantly male-dominated scene. However, the narrative has shifted as more female artists have entered the arena. Women are now protagonists in these urban tales, depicted as complex and multifaceted beings. The rise of feminist street art has introduced powerful imagery that challenges traditional gender norms and advocates for equality and women's rights.

Women in Urban Art as Icons and Activists

Graffiti Street Pop Art has been an influential and expressive medium used by artists worldwide to convey various messages, ideas, and themes. One prominent topic that has gained momentum in recent years is the representation of women in this urban art form. Graffiti artists have taken to the streets to celebrate, empower, and challenge perceptions of women in society. Female Empowerment: Many artists use graffiti to portray strong, independent women as a symbol of female empowerment. By depicting women in powerful stances or as iconic figures, they challenge societal norms and expectations, promoting gender equality and inspiring other women to break free from stereotypes. Celebrating Women's Contributions: Graffiti artists also use their work to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of women throughout history. By creating murals and street art pieces that honor trailblazing women, they make sure these stories are visible and accessible to the public. This can include highlighting historical figures, activists, artists, or local community leaders. Challenging Objectification: Street art has been used as a medium to challenge the objectification of women in media and advertising. Artists may create pieces that subvert traditional portrayals of women, replacing objectified images with more complex and humanizing depictions. This can stimulate conversations about the ways women are represented in society and the harmful effects of objectification. Female Graffiti Artists: Women have been breaking into the male-dominated graffiti world, creating their distinctive styles and making their mark on the urban art scene. Female artists, such as Lady Pink, Miss Van, and Swoon, have become influential figures within the graffiti community, showcasing their unique perspectives and talents. Collaborative Projects: Various collaborative projects and initiatives have aimed at empowering women through street art. For instance, organizations like Women on Walls and Femme Fierce bring together female artists to create murals and installations focusing on women's issues, rights, and experiences. Graffiti Street Pop Art has become a platform for artists to address and celebrate women's topics, empowering women and challenging societal norms.

The Future of Women in Urban Graffiti Street Art

As the movement continues to evolve, the representation of women in street art will likely continue to grow in prominence and diversity. In recent years, women have become icons and activists through the medium of street pop art and graffiti artwork. Artists like Shepard Fairey's "Obey Giant" campaign, which includes the iconic "Hope" poster featuring a woman of color, have used the image of women to symbolize strength and resilience. Similarly, works by Banksy and other notable street artists have presented women in roles that defy expectations, often with a touch of irony or social critique. Moreover, the streets have become a canvas for celebrating historical and contemporary female figures who have broken barriers and made significant contributions to culture and society. Murals of women such as Frida Kahlo, Rosa Parks, and Malala Yousafzai adorn walls worldwide, serving as sources of inspiration and education for the community. These works often incorporate local cultural elements and women's personal stories within those communities, creating a robust dialogue between the artist, the subject, and the viewers. The representation of women in street pop art and graffiti artwork is as diverse and complex as women themselves. As street art continues to evolve as a platform for social change and artistic expression, the image of women within it will undoubtedly continue to provoke, inspire, and evolve. These artistic expressions beautify urban landscapes and contribute to meaningful conversations about gender, identity, and human rights, reflecting the pulse of societal progress in vivid color and form.
