Wasted Youth- Your Eyes Here Cac Malaga Edition 2-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Fine Speckletone Art Paper by Shepard Fairey x D*Face Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist. Signed By F*Face & Shepard Fairey, Numbered Screen Print “WASTED YOUTH / YOUR EYES HERE” (CAC MALAGA EDITION) Screen Print 18 x 24 inches Edition of 400 July 16, 2015 D*Face and I enjoy collaborating and we both agreed that it would be great to do a print to celebrate our simultaneous shows at the CAC Málaga. We used very different color palettes in our murals there so we decided that since we both liked black, red, and silver – that we could put our chromatic differences aside and join forces on those three colors for the print. I’d still recommend seeing the murals in person if you have the opportunity, but this print is an avatar I can be proud of. All of the prints are signed by me and D*Face so you know that meant they had to travel to Spain and back – luckily, they’re all in good shape. Thanks to the CAC Málaga for facilitating such a great show for both of us! -Shepard

D*Face- Dean Stockton> Pop Artist Graffiti Street Artworks

Dean Stockton's Influence on Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Dean Stockton, better known by his artist DFace, is a prominent figure in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork. A distinctive use of bold colors, comic book-style graphics, and a satirical approach to popular culture characterizes his work. DFace's artwork often critiques consumerism, the glorification of celebrity culture, and the American Dream. His unique style is a blend of street art, graffiti, and pop art, making him one of the pioneering artists in bringing street art into the gallery space. DFace's journey in the art world began in London, where he grew up immersed in the burgeoning graffiti scene of the early 1990s. Inspired by the works of Shepard Fairey and Banksy, along with American pop artists like Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol, DFace developed a style that resonates with the grit of street art and the polished finish of galleries. Using stickers, posters, and stencils in public spaces helped establish his reputation in the street art community. At the same time, his gallery works brought him recognition in the mainstream art world. D*Face's ability to navigate these two worlds has been a significant factor in his success and influence.

Techniques & Legacy and Continuing Influence of D*Face

One of the defining aspects of DFace's work is his exploration of themes related to mortality, fame, and materialism. His artworks often feature skeletons, winged characters, and figures with a comic book aesthetic, which serve as metaphors for the transient nature of life and fame. DFace uses various techniques, including spray paint, stickers, and stenciling, combined with traditional methods like oil painting on canvas. This diverse approach allows him to create multiple artworks, from large-scale murals to intricate gallery pieces. DFace has gained international acclaim for displaying his works worldwide, including in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, and London. His ability to convey universal themes through a distinctly urban lens has resonated with audiences globally. DFace's impact is not limited to the visual arts alone; he has also ventured into sculpture and collaborative projects, further expanding his influence and reach within the art community. DFace's contribution to Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork is significant as he continues challenging and redefining the boundaries between street art and fine art. His work encourages viewers to question societal norms and the role of art in public spaces. As DFace continues to evolve and innovate, his legacy as a critical figure in the contemporary art scene is firmly established, inspiring a new generation of artists to explore the endless possibilities within street art.
