I wanted to give Colonel Jack O'Neil and Dr. Daniel Jackson a glimpse of what awaited them at the other end of the wormhole. The two characters view their journey in different ways. Dr. Jackson's journey is filled with childlike wonder seeing something magnificent and awe-inspiring while Colonel O'Neil bears an atomic bomb capable of producing cataclysmic results. We learn later in the film that the character of Ra is an alien life form who possessed the body of a young boy. I wanted to touch on this and add some tension to the image by showing his glowing blue eyes. The print is 8 colors and features 4 varieties of metallic gold and copper inks. There is also a hidden star chart in the background printed in a shiny black varnish." -Todd Slater

This particular work, featuring an oil barrel with oil dripping down its side, is a striking commentary on the oil industry's grip on global economies and the environment. The choice of gold chrome for the barrel's surface is deliberate, symbolizing the wealth generated by oil, while the black ink used for the oil illustrates the often grim consequences of its use. Shahin's work is a visual dichotomy, juxtaposing the allure of gold with the danger and destruction associated with oil spills and industrial accidents. The Provocative Brilliance of Shahin's Artistic Craft Marwan Shahin is renowned for his ability to capture the essence of street pop art & graffiti artwork through mediums that speak volumes about the current social and political climate. "Oily Gold Mirror" is a testament to his artistic prowess, where every detail is meticulously planned and executed to reflect deeper societal issues. The reflective quality of the aluminum engages the viewer directly, forcing a confrontation with the depicted themes and sparking a contemplation of their role in the narrative. The limited edition nature of "Oily Gold Mirror" adds to its allure, creating a sense of urgency and desirability amongst collectors and art lovers. Shahin's choice of the medium, aluminum, traditionally associated with industrial use, elevates the conversation on art and its potential for impact. The screen print technique imbues the piece with a textural depth that is tactile and visually arresting, demanding attention and dialogue. Through this artwork, Shahin continues challenging the boundaries of street art, moving it from the alleys and walls into the galleries and homes of those seeking to own a piece of the conversation. His work is not merely to be viewed but to be experienced, to resonate with the onlooker personally, bridging the gap between the artist's intent and the public's perception. In the world of street pop art & graffiti artwork, Marwan Shahin's "Oily Gold Mirror" is an addition and a significant milestone that encapsulates the zeitgeist of our times. Through this piece, Shahin invites us to witness the grandeur of gold and the gravity of oil while reflecting upon the duality of prosperity and peril. Cleon Peterson Trump 2017 Silkscreen Print by Cleon Peterson
Trump 2017 Silkscreen Print by Cleon Peterson Hand-Pulled 2-Color Screen Print on Coventry Rag Paper Limited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. 2017 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 175 Artwork Size 27.5x36 The "Trump 2017" silkscreen print by Cleon Peterson is a compelling example of how the aesthetic of street pop art and graffiti can be distilled into a limited edition artwork. This hand-pulled screen print, produced in a restricted quantity of 175, is a testament to Peterson's raw and graphic style that often conveys themes of chaos, order, and the complexities of human struggle. Executed on premium Coventry Rag Paper, this 27.5x36 inch artwork is part of a series that Cleon Peterson is known for – stark, two-tone compositions that explore power structures and societal divisions. The limited color palette of black and gold not only enhances the visual drama of the piece but also imbues it with a sense of ancient regality, reminiscent of Grecian pottery that often depicted mythological tales of gods and mortals. In "Trump 2017", Peterson adapts the classical form of the amphora, using it as a canvas to present contemporary narratives that reflect on the state of the world in 2017. The figures, entangled in acts that may be interpreted as either conflict or cooperation, are signature elements of Peterson's work, which does not shy away from controversy or discomfort. Each character within the print appears engaged in a narrative much more significant than themselves, speaking to the viewer with a confrontational gaze demanding contemplation and reflection. As a piece of street pop art, "Trump 2017" carries the spirit of graffiti from the walls to the world of fine art collecting. Signed and numbered by the artist, this print is a piece of history, capturing the essence of its time in a format that challenges and bridges the divide between public art and collectible commodities. Peterson's work, particularly this print, resonates within the art community as a bold statement of the tumultuous times it represents.
