  • The Shape Of Capitalism HPM Stencil Print by Denial- Daniel Bombardier

Denial- Daniel Bombardier The Shape Of Capitalism HPM Stencil Print by Denial- Daniel Bombardier

The Shape Of Capitalism Original Hand-Painted Multiple (HPM) on Wood Cradled Panel ready to hang by Denial Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2016 Signed & Numbered HPM Limited Edition Artwork Size 24x24 Featuring works from Denial’s nearly decade-long career, his often satirical approach works to combat mass media, consumerism, and advertising by taking familiar imagery and objects and re-contextualizing them into unique artistic statements that drive the viewer to question the worth and difference (if any) between art and advertising. Building on a long line of pop-driven work, Enjoy Denial finds Denial harnessing the negative corporate energies spewed upon society and turns them back against the established power structures that control our everyday lives. With this exhibition, Denial peels back layers of overloaded advertising and logos to shine a not-so-subtle light on the deceptions society combats daily from corporations. Denial’s art is strongly political and social since the artist takes specific positions against issues, such as capitalism, consumer culture, and advertisements. More importantly, the artist is aware of his choices and motivations: “I like to think of myself as activist pop art. How I relate with cartoons and graphics is a lot easier than I do with photo-realistic stuff" Another aspect of Denial's work is humor. His work is satirical, which, by definition, means that it uses humor as a confronting mechanism.

"I’ve always loved Zelda games and other video game classics. Even watching people play video games was magical to me when I was growing up. My older brothers did most of the playing because I was no good, but the games were magical. You could live, adventure, race, fight and make friends in these alternate worlds. I guess that’s why I love video games and art so much till this day. You get to create worlds and live in them and escape from reality. Real-life is stressful and sometimes is too much. I love to escape through my art and video games." - Jordan Mendenhall

Sarah Joncas Shadow Boxer Archival Pigment Print by Sarah Joncas

Shadow Boxer Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Museum Natural Fine Art Paper by Sarah Joncas Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "I had a reference image I took of myself many years ago. I had lost my sketchbook that day and had nothing to paint on, so I started using myself as a model in some kitschy noir-like photo shoot. I always liked the photo and wanted to paint it up, but it wasn't until this show came around that I found a proper place for the image. Though I'm not at all as dramatic, violent, or angry as the painting displays (quite the opposite), it was a lot of fun to roleplay that kind of revengeful character! I've always said painting is kind of my quiet/shy way of acting... I like to paint narratives and covey them in a way that touches emotions and stirs up thought, kind of like a film might." - Sarah Joncas

American Expression Limited Edition 6-Color Hand-Pulled Silkscreen Print on 300gsm French Speckletone Fine Art Paper by Denial Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. n 2000 he adopted the moniker ‘DENIAL’ as a means of poking fun at advertising, politics, and media messages that contemporary society is often ‘in denial’ about. Since then he has maintained an ongoing global street-campaign of over 500, 000 stickers, placards, and murals, using the alpha-numeric characters ‘D3N!@L’. Intended as a conceptual means of marketing absurdism, DENIAL also challenges traditional notions of graffiti and public art through his bold and often satirical visual subversions. Denial is a Canadian artist who experiments with aerosol and stencil art, while his main fields of interest are consumerism, politics and the human condition in today’s society. Since the culture of graffiti was gaining more and more popularity in the US and Europe, the taggers had to be increasingly original in order to stand out. The signatures became bigger, more stylized and more colorful.

Bad Brains Punk Showcase Rasta AP Artist Proof 5-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckle Tone Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist For Musicians Bad Brains. AP Artist Proof 2016 Signed & Marked AP Limited Edition Artwork Size 18x24 Shepard Fairey's "Bad Brains Punk Showcase Rasta AP" is a culturally potent piece within the street pop and graffiti art landscape. As an artist proof of the limited edition series, this 5-color hand-pulled silkscreen print on cream speckle tone paper measures 18x24 inches and was released in 2016. Signed and marked as an artist-proof (AP), it is a collector's piece that delves into the pulsating heart of punk's ethos and reggae's rasta vibrations, manifested through the lens of Fairey's distinct style. This artwork resonates with the energy of Bad Brains, a band that epitomized the hardcore punk scene with its unique blend of punk and reggae, a hybrid that paralleled Fairey's melding of art forms. The print captures the band's spirit with the commanding phrase "Positive Mental Attitude!" a mantra that Bad Brains championed throughout their career. Fairey's work is a visual echo of this ethos, presenting the band members with a backdrop of rasta colors, which not only allude to their music's roots but also serve as a nod to a broader cultural movement. Fairey, known for his influence on street pop art through works like the iconic "OBEY" campaign and the Obama "HOPE" poster, continues his exploration of music's intersection with visual art in this print. The piece is saturated with the motifs of Fairey's "OBEY Propaganda" — the star, the bold lettering, and the stylized imagery. These elements merge, not promote a band, and celebrate an entire cultural movement, reflecting the potency of street pop art in capturing and promoting subcultural movements. The "Bad Brains Punk Showcase Rasta AP" print symbolizes Fairey's engagement with the punk scene and his ability to encapsulate its raw, unfiltered voice within his work. It's a testament to the enduring dialogue between music and visual art, which Fairey has continually fostered through his prints, murals, and street art. This piece doesn't just hang on a wall; it screams with the voice of a movement, echoing from the underground clubs to the sun-soaked streets where street art and graffiti have long found their home.

Power Of Movement Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Case Maclaim Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. One of the most poignant aspects common to all of case’s works is the texture of the surfaces he uses. They are painted on a background that is made from pieces of cardboard of various sizes. Most of the cardboard comes from the packaging of the spray paint cans and they are held together with glue, staples and tape. Sometimes bits and pieces of wood are also glued onto the surface, such that a bumpy, one-of-a-kind surface appears. This structure is diametrically opposed to typically overblown, perfectionist images and it gives case’s works their unique character.

Morsel Limited Edition Archival Pigment Hand-Embellished Prints on 330gsm Fine Art Paper by Laura Bifano Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "The painting was originally done for a show at Thinkspace Gallery called “Picks of the Harvest.” I had played around with a few ideas initially, but nothing seemed to take shape until I took a road trip up Vancouver Island to visit family. The scenery was stunning emerald green farmland dotted with grazing sheep, so I used that as a jumping-off point for the painting. I’ve always loved English Pastoral paintings and knew right away that I wanted to do something in a similar vein. I decided to introduce a predatory element to this otherwise idyllic scene, and a family of Wolves seemed appropriate. At the time I was also watching a steady stream of BBC nature documentaries and it got me in a contemplative mood, thinking about the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. I think that introducing the element of these artificial pixel sheep adds a touch of whimsy and levity to an otherwise morbid image." - Laura Bifano

PP Printers Proof 2016 Signed & Marked PP Limited Edition Artwork Size 14x21 Archival Pigment Fine Art DAIM's Eruption PP Archival Print: A Fusion of Street Pop Art and Fine Artistry The "Eruption PP Archival Print" by the artist DAIM is a striking example of the fusion between street pop art and the meticulous approach of fine art printmaking. This particular work, part of a limited edition on 310gsm museum fine art paper, showcases the artist's expertise in creating depth and movement on a two-dimensional surface. Known for his dynamic and geometrically complex graffiti works, DAIM has transferred his skill to fine art prints, capturing the spirit of graffiti in a form that allows for preservation and collection. The term 'PP' refers to 'Printer's Proof,' akin to an Artist's Proof but typically reserved for the collaborators in the printmaking process. The printers often retain these proofs as a reference for the quality and color of the print edition. The "Eruption PP Archival Print" from 2016 bears the mark of DAIM's involvement and approval, signed and designated as a PP, further emphasizing its uniqueness beyond the standard edition prints. This print, sized at 14x21 inches, is manageable and highly collectible, making it a sought-after piece for enthusiasts of modern street pop art and graffiti artwork. Technique and Cultural Significance in DAIM's Archival Prints DAIM's mastery in creating complex, 3D-style graffiti is evident in the "Eruption PP Archival Print," where the illusion of protruding shapes and bursting elements is palpable. The use of archival pigment ensures that the vibrancy of the colors and the precision of the details are maintained over time, mirroring the longevity and historical significance of the street art from which it draws inspiration. The technique also allows the artwork to stand the test of time, just as street art's messages and impact continue to resonate within urban landscapes and cultural dialogues. This artwork represents more than just an aesthetic pleasure; it encapsulates the evolving narrative of street art into a more formalized art setting. Through his print, DAIM challenges the traditional separation between the renegade spirit of street art and the curated walls of art galleries. The inclusion of such prints in the art market reflects the changing perceptions of graffiti art, acknowledging its rightful place within the broader spectrum of significant cultural productions. The Impact of Limited Edition Prints in the Art World The introduction of limited edition prints has markedly transformed the world of street pop art and graffiti artwork. These prints allow artists like DAIM to reach a wider audience, offering a piece of their art that is both accessible and exclusive. The "Eruption PP Archival Print" exemplifies this shift, as it is a piece of DAIM's large-scale graffiti legacy and a collectible artwork that can be owned privately. The concept of Printer's Proofs such as this extends the idea of exclusivity and provides collectors with a tangible connection to the artist's original vision. Limited editions like DAIM's print bridge the transient nature of street art and the permanence sought by collectors. As such, they play a crucial role in sustaining the artists and their creative endeavors while ensuring that the art itself is preserved to the elements and the passage of time. In the context of modern art, these prints are more than just reproductions; they are original creations that carry the essence of the artist's hand and the vibrancy of street art culture. In summarizing the importance of DAIM's "Eruption PP Archival Print," it is crucial to recognize the confluence of artistic technique, cultural impact, and market dynamics it represents. This print is a snapshot of DAIM's creative journey, a celebration of street art's influence on contemporary culture, and a testament to the enduring appeal of street pop art and graffiti artwork within the fine art community.

The artwork's raw and expressive style is characteristic of Sever's oeuvre, often characterized by a blend of satire and critique leveled at modern society's issues. Through works such as "Hands Up," Sever contributes to the broader narrative of street pop art and graffiti artwork, continually serving as a barometer for cultural sentiment and a platform for expression within the urban landscape.

"This print is part of the next series I'm starting after the Acid Forest. I’m just kind of diving a little bit more in-depth into the forest and the creatures that live in there. I wanted to do a non-traditional print, just use the actual bold black lines as the main image, but I wanted to personalize each one. You know customize it. Every one is going to be different, color, shape, everything minus the main image itself. " - Malt aka Brown Bag Detroit

Green

Emerald Tones: The Use of Green in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Green's Emergence in Urban Visual Culture

Green, the color of nature and rebirth, has made a significant leap from the natural world into the urban jungle, asserting its presence within street pop art and graffiti artwork. As a color, green has the unique ability to convey a wide range of emotions and messages, from tranquility and growth to envy and vigor. Within street pop and graffiti, green is not just a color; it's a statement. It brings a piece of the natural world into the often stark, concrete environment of the city, providing a stark contrast that can breathe life into inanimate structures and surfaces.

Technical Aspects of Green in Street Artistry

The technical application of green in urban art is as varied as the shades it can take on. In street pop art, green can be found in everything from the bright lime greens that scream for attention to the muted olive tones that suggest sophistication and earthiness. Graffiti artists favor the color for its ability to set a mood. Green can ground a piece with a sense of calmness or give it an edge of vibrancy. The particular hue selected can significantly affect the artwork's interaction with light and its surrounding environment, influencing how the work is perceived by its audience.

Green as a Cultural Signifier in Art

Culturally, green carries a wealth of significance that street and pop artists tap into. It's a color that can represent political movements, environmental activism, and social change. In street pop and graffiti art, green is often employed to draw connections to these themes, leveraging its cultural capital to amplify a message or cause. This symbolism is preserved in the audience; green can trigger a recognition of and engagement with the artwork's deeper narrative.

Color Dynamics: Green in Composition

In terms of color dynamics, green holds a place of versatility. It can harmonize or clash within a composition, depending on its application. The color theory utilized by street pop and graffiti artists often incorporates green to either blend seamlessly with other natural tones or to stand out against a complementary backdrop, such as red or orange. In compositions where green is used alongside shades of blue, a sense of tranquility and naturalism is often evoked. In contrast, its use of yellows can create an energizing and lively effect.

The Symbolism and Utility of Green in Urban Art

The symbolism of green in urban art stretches beyond its visual appeal. It is a valuable color, often used to create a sense of space and depth in a piece. Its various shades can add dimension and the illusion of texture, which is particularly useful in the flat surfaces that are typical canvases for street artists. Furthermore, green has an innate ability to draw the eye, serving as a focal point or a means to direct the viewer's attention to specific elements within the artwork.

Green in the Future of Street and Pop Art

As we look to the future of street pop art and graffiti, green's role seems poised to become even more prominent. With increasing awareness of environmental issues, green has become a color of advocacy—a visual call to arms. The continued use of green in urban art reflects not only aesthetic preferences but also a collective consciousness that resonates with contemporary concerns. Its application across murals, installations, and standalone pieces will likely evolve. Still, the message of green will remain clear: it is a color of life, thought, and the ever-present relationship between the urban and the natural. In every shade, from neon to forest, green in street pop art and graffiti artwork is a bridge between worlds. It is a reminder of the organic within the manufactured, a splash of vitality on the grey canvas of the city. Its application is as thoughtful as it is impactful, with each hue selected for its ability to communicate, to stand out, and to represent the myriad ideas that green encapsulates. Whether it whispers of growth or shouts of change, green is a color that demands to be seen and considered within the broader palette of urban expression.
