Shepard Fairey- OBEY Wetland Powers Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY
Wetland Powers Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 550 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print "This Wetland Powers print examines the repercussions of a Supreme Court largely in the pockets of big oil. The government is supposed to create the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Still, the conservative justices in the current Supreme Court have put the agendas of big oil and wealthy property owners ahead of safe and clean water for the citizenry. The concept of "common assets"… no one owns resources like air and water and needs to be protected for the benefit of all, seems lost on many people in business and government. It is up to us as voters to elect representatives who put the needs of the citizens first. The Supreme Court makeup is always important to consider when voting for our president since the sitting president selects appointees for Supreme Court justices." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY Shepard Fairey's "Wetland Powers": A Statement in Street Pop Art In street pop art, Shepard Fairey stands as a figure of monumental influence; his work is often intertwined with solid socio-political messages. The "Wetland Powers" silkscreen print by Shepard Fairey, also known as OBEY, is a striking example of his commitment to merging art with activism. Released in 2023, this limited edition piece, hand-pulled on cream speckletone fine art paper, is more than a visually arresting image; it's a conduit for a critical conversation about environmental justice and governance. Dissecting "Wetland Powers" by Shepard Fairey The artwork, sized at 18x24 inches, is part of a limited edition of 550 signed and numbered prints. In typical Fairey fashion, the piece combines a bold aesthetic with a message that challenges viewers to consider the impact of political decisions on the environment. The imagery features a female figure with elements that suggest a connection to nature and its defense. Fairey's work is known for its layered visual language; every element serves a symbolic purpose, and "Wetland Powers" is no exception. Environmental Advocacy through Art In "Wetland Powers," Fairey addresses the contentious issue of land rights versus environmental protection, particularly highlighting the Supreme Court's role in shaping the fate of U.S. wetlands. The print serves as a commentary on the court's decisions that Fairey perceives as favoring corporate interests over public environmental health. Through this piece, Fairey expresses his belief in safeguarding common assets — air, water, and land — for the collective good. The Cultural Resonance of Fairey's Work Shepard Fairey's art has always resonated with a broad audience, and his Obey campaign has become a cultural phenomenon. With "Wetland Powers," Fairey continues to tap into the collective consciousness, using his art as a platform to advocate for ecological and social responsibility. The work underscores the power of street pop art to transcend the canvas and become a vehicle for change, urging citizens to reflect on their role as voters and to elect leaders who prioritize the welfare of all. "Wetland Powers" is a testament to Shepard Fairey's enduring role as an artist at the forefront of street pop and graffiti artwork. His ability to address pressing global issues through compelling imagery cements his status as an artist dedicated to the intersection of art and advocacy. As a limited edition print, "Wetland Powers" represents Fairey's artistic prowess and embodies the spirit of street art as a form of engaged public discourse.

Street Pop Art and Its Role in Cultural Discourse Street pop art, as a hybrid of pop art's focus on mass culture and street art's raw, public-facing expression, has become an influential force in cultural discourse. Artists like Denial leverage the visibility and accessibility of street art to bring critical social issues to the forefront of public consciousness. Denial's work, particularly in this print, harnesses the power of graphic representation to address complex societal issues, making it a poignant example of how art can reflect and influence the times. This Is America Artwork Giclee Limited Edition Print on 300gsm Museum Natural Fine Art Paper by Pop Culture Graffiti Artist Adam Caldwell. AP Artist Proof 2015 Signed & Marked AP Limited Edition Artwork Size 17x14 "I've waited my whole life to create artwork that incorporated my grandfather Erskine Caldwell's work. The show at White Walls was the perfect chance. He was the bestselling author of over 50 books including “Tobacco Road” and “God’s Little Acre”. The show was about my grandfather's work as a writer and my step-grandmother Margaret Bourke-White’s photography. This was the centerpiece of the show and was used for the postcard as well as advertisement for the show. While I was painting a series based on the novels written by my grandfather I was looking at the lurid pulp cover depictions of seductive southern women on his paperback editions, and the photography of his second wife Margaret Bourke-White. I was interested in his critically acclaimed, socially conscious portrayals of the economic and social conditions of southern sharecroppers, and how his publishers marketed his paperback books as softcore semi-pornography detailing the sex lives of their characters. Margaret Bourke-White’s photos also display an intense interest in race, class, and social problems." - Adam Caldwell

Adam Caldwell Signal Flare Archival Print by Adam Caldwell
Signal Flare Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Museum Natural Fine Art Paper by Adam Caldwell Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "This is a painting of one of my favorite models, Victoria. I painted her in front of a vintage photo of a railway signalman swinging a lantern at night. He’s sending information to the conductor of the train by moving the light in different patterns. There are also elements from an architectural model, a receding yellow fire hose, and some backward 1950’s ad copy. This piece was part of a recent show with Ekundayo and Joram Roukes "New Generation" at Thinkspace gallery in July 2013. I used ad copy, historical photos, and female figures as elements in most of the pieces. It’s a bit simpler than most of my compositions. The figure is really centered as well, I usually push for a more asymmetrical placement, but I like how it came out." - Adam Caldwell

The artwork's aesthetic is a complex interplay of geometric and organic forms, creating a visual language that speaks to the chaos and order found within urban environments. This dichotomy is a hallmark of graffiti art, which often finds beauty in the overlap of the planned and the spontaneous. AL Grime's "Mugshot" is no exception, with its layered composition that invites viewers to delve into a deeper narrative beyond the surface. Innovation in Street Art As a piece of modern Street Pop Art and graffiti Artwork, "Mugshot" does more than occupy space; it serves as a cultural commentary, reflecting the artist's perspective on contemporary issues. The title suggests an exploration of identity and perception, themes that are recurrent in AL Grime's body of work and resonate with the broader discourse in modern art. AL Grime's innovative approach to traditional portraiture through "Mugshot" showcases the evolving nature of street art. The fragmented, almost digital-like representation challenges conventional concepts of portraiture, blending them with the disruptive energy of street art to create something entirely new and thought-provoking. The impact of "Mugshot" within the art community is underscored by its originality and the artist's signature, marking it as a significant piece within the Street Pop Art and graffiti Artwork movement. It stands as a testament to the enduring nature of street art and its capacity to push the boundaries of artistic expression continually. "Mugshot" by AL Grime is a powerful representation of contemporary art's intersection with street culture, offering a fresh perspective on the medium of acrylic painting and the traditional wood panel. It exemplifies the transformative potential of street art and its ability to convey complex narratives through a visually striking and accessible form.

And Then Things Got Better- Love Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 330gsm Fine Art Paper by Denial Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. Love Variant 24x24 Edition of 25 2021 "My work speaks of impending doom and a lot of crass sinister themes, but that should not mean I desire this to happen at all. I hope my work would suggest only the opposite: to show the ridiculousness of it all and how we may find better solutions for the future." -Denial Denial’s art is strongly political and social since the artist takes specific positions against issues, such as capitalism, consumer culture, and advertisements. More importantly, the artist is aware of his choices and motivations: “I like to think of myself as activist pop art. How I relate with cartoons and graphics is a lot easier than I do with photo-realistic stuff" Another aspect of Denial's work is humor. His work is satirical, which, by definition, means that it uses humor as a confronting mechanism.
