PangeaSeed Foundation
PangeaSeed Foundation is a non-profit organization that merges the worlds of pop art, street art, and graffiti art to raise awareness and inspire environmental change. By partnering with talented artists from across the globe, PangeaSeed fosters a unique approach to activism and educates the public on oceanic conservation issues. Through eye-catching and evocative art, the organization strives to instigate conversations about the environment, ultimately spurring individuals and communities into action. The story of PangeaSeed Foundation begins with founder Tre' Packard, an accomplished artist and conservationist. After witnessing the brutal slaughter of sharks and other marine life firsthand, he was inspired to take action. In 2009, Packard established PangeaSeed as a way to unite his love for art and his passion for environmentalism. The foundation has since grown into a global movement, working with over 300 artists from 35 countries to promote environmental stewardship and create positive change. Arguably the most well-known project under the PangeaSeed umbrella is the Sea Walls: Artists for Oceans initiative. Launched in 2014, this groundbreaking program commissions large-scale public murals addressing pressing oceanic environmental issues. Sea Walls offers a unique platform for artists to express their creativity while raising awareness and generating meaningful conversations within communities worldwide. To date, the initiative has successfully created over 350 murals in 15 countries. One particularly notable collaboration occurred in 2015 when renowned street artist Shepard Fairey, the creative force behind the iconic "Hope" poster featuring Barack Obama, teamed up with PangeaSeed. Fairey's involvement brought significant attention to the organization, further solidifying the foundation's standing within the art world. The collaboration resulted in the creation of several limited-edition prints, which sold out quickly, raising funds to support the Sea Walls initiative and other PangeaSeed projects. PangeaSeed also engages with the film industry to advance its message of oceanic conservation. In 2017, the foundation produced the documentary "The Color of Change," which followed six artists as they created murals for the Sea Walls project in Napier, New Zealand. The film showcases the power of art as a tool for positive change and highlights the importance of public art in fostering environmental awareness. Understanding the need to fund their vital initiatives, PangeaSeed launched the PRINTed Oceans Project. This program offers limited-edition, artist-designed merchandise, including fine art prints, apparel, and accessories. The sales generated through PRINTed Oceans help support the foundation's ongoing work while also serving as a unique platform to showcase the talents of participating artists.
