  • Swan Song Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY Swan Song Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Purchase Swan Song Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled 4-Color on Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 550 Size 36x24 Silkscreen Print The Swan Song print is a depiction of the precarious state of nature's delicate balance, with numerous species declining, eco-systems teetering on the brink of collapse, and climate scientists warning that time is running out to avert environmental consequences that could render zones inhabitable for millions. While certain groups may suffer more than others, this issue is universal as we all have an impact on both the problems and solutions. Unfortunately, the conscientious habits of individuals alone are insufficient to solve the problem. Unless corporations are pressured and regulated, they will continue to prioritize profits over the planet's health. The piece contains a news clipping revealing that Exxon-Mobile has known for over 40 years, based on their own internal scientific research, that burning fossil fuels is causing global warming, yet they concealed this information and publicly denied the impact of fossil fuels on climate change. A portion of the print's proceeds will be donated to Greenpeace USA to support their efforts to combat climate change. The Speckletone paper used in the print is made from recycled materials. Thank you for your concern.

Purchase Educate to Liberate Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled 4-Color on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2021 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 300 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print Depicting Bobby Seale of the Black Panther Party in Stylistic 70s Retro Style. "The events this month honor the backbone leadership of the original Party. The work of BPPALN is to ensure the education initiatives and community outreach programs provide knowledge while improving the quality of life for the Elders, all the way to the youth of today." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY  Shepard Fairey, a contemporary street artist widely known for his OBEY series, produced a remarkable silkscreen print titled "Educate to Liberate." This limited edition artwork, hand-pulled and comprising four colors on cream speckletone fine art paper, is significant in the street pop art and graffiti art realm. Created in 2021, the print is part of a limited edition of 300, each signed and numbered by the artist, emphasizing its exclusivity and collectible nature. Measuring 18x24 inches, the print is a striking homage to Bobby Seale, co-founder of the Black Panther Party. Seale is depicted in a stylistic retro fashion reminiscent of the 1970s when the Black Panther Party was at the forefront of civil rights activism. Fairey's artwork captures the essence of Seale's impact and serves as a visual narrative that bridges past struggles with contemporary social issues. Fairey's statement regarding this piece highlights the enduring influence of the Black Panther Party's leadership and underscores the importance of educational initiatives and community outreach. These programs are designed to empower and enhance the quality of life for people across generations, from the elders who were the movement's backbone to today's youth. By invoking the spirit of the Black Panthers' activism, Fairey's "Educate to Liberate" becomes more than art; it is a call to action, urging ongoing education and community engagement as vehicles for liberation. This print solidifies Fairey's standing as a pivotal figure in street pop art within the framework of OBEY as a topic. His works are not merely aesthetic creations but are imbued with social commentary and the power to provoke thought and inspire change. As a limited edition piece, "Educate to Liberate" is not just a collectible but also a testament to the ongoing relevance of street art as a form of social and political engagement.

The majority of these works are images of people from the Pacific region, mostly women who exude a strong sense of personal style and character. The main exception is when I travel I tend to try and paint someone from each place I go. Yolanda is Detroit local - we spotted her at a Red Bull House Of Art opening in Detroit's Eastern Market. After speaking with her and creating this piece I got a sense that she is a person with a story to tell and a very strong character." - Askew

I have transcended “getting it right” to developing my own style, having some fun in the process, and creating some interesting characters. It’s my way of looking at human life and creating magic. I’m very excited for these images to go out into the world. They force me to ask who is God? Why are we created in his image? With this series I’m trying to understand this entity that we call God and at the same time understand life.” - Tyree Guyton

The Fugees Collaboration with B+ is a limited edition silkscreen print that encapsulates the intersection of music and visual art through the joint venture of street artist Ernesto Yerena and photographer Brian Cross, known professionally as B+. This 1-color hand-pulled print on fine art paper was crafted in 2021 and is a part of an exclusive collection limited to 250 signed and numbered pieces, each with dimensions of 24x18 inches. This artwork portrays the iconic trio of the rap group The Fugees—Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, and Pras Michel—rendered in a style that merges the raw energy of street art with the sophisticated minimalism of modern pop art. Yerena, known for his works that often explore themes of cultural identity and political commentary, brings his unique stencil-like graphics to the mix, translating B+'s photographic capture into a high-contrast visual statement. B+, an established figure in the music industry through his photographic work, contributes the authenticity of the moment captured, a testament to his intimate relationship with the music scene and his subject matter. This print captures The Fugees in a candid state, seated on a staircase, which might be suggestive of the ascents and descents of their musical journey. The composition's stark lines and sepia-toned color palette highlight the group's unity and distinctive presence within the hip-hop community. The collaboration of Yerena and B+ in creating this print not only pays homage to The Fugees' significant impact on rap music but also immortalizes them within the legacy of pop art and street culture. This artwork is not merely a representation of the artists but a narrative piece that speaks to the broader cultural implications of their work and influence. It showcases how street art can elevate musical icons to a status that transcends their original medium, cementing their images within the public's consciousness through visual art. Each print in this series serves as an homage to the power of collaboration across artistic disciplines and the shared heritage of music and art within urban cultural landscapes.

Purchase Bad Brains Punk Showcase- Rock For Light 2-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckle Tone Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist For Musicians Bad Brains. 2016 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 350 Artwork Size 18x24 Shepard Fairey's "Bad Brains Punk Showcase - Rock For Light" is a striking exemplar of the indelible impact of street pop art and graffiti artwork on the domain of music and culture. This two-color hand-pulled silkscreen print on cream speckle tone paper is a tribute to the legendary punk band Bad Brains, known for their explosive fusion of punk and reggae and their message of "Positive Mental Attitude." The limited edition print, part of a signed and numbered release of 350 pieces measuring 18x24 inches, encapsulates the raw energy and ethos of the band while also showcasing Fairey's iconic style that has become synonymous with the OBEY brand. Fairey, a street artist and graphic designer, rose to fame with his "Andre the Giant Has a Posse" sticker campaign, which later evolved into the OBEY Giant movement. This project aimed to stimulate curiosity and encourage people to question their relationship with their surroundings. The "Bad Brains Punk Showcase" piece continues Fairey's exploration of counterculture and music, prevalent themes throughout his body of work. His distinct approach to art, often characterized by bold, stylized images and a limited color palette, reflects his roots in the skateboarding scene and his admiration for the punk rock ethos. In this artwork, Fairey melds the band's iconography with his aesthetic to create a piece that is both a homage and a standalone work within the street pop art genre. The use of the star emblem, the dynamic composition, and the commanding typography are all hallmarks of Fairey's style while also paying respect to the cultural significance of Bad Brains. The result is a piece that resonates with fans of the band and Fairey's art, bridging the gap between music and visual art in a way symbolic of street pop art's role in contemporary culture. The artwork serves not only as a collector's item but also as an illustration of the synergy between visual art and music. It is a testament to the power of street pop art to transcend its origins and become a part of the cultural lexicon, capable of celebrating and immortalizing the pioneers of subcultures like punk rock. Purchase Smokey Robinson- Red 3-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckle Tone Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist. Signed by Fairey & legendary music artist Smokey Robinson. Screen Print 18 x 24 inches Edition of 450 2010  "I was amazed when Smokey contacted me to do a portrait to commemorate his 50 years in the music business, and a little nostalgic at the thought of his impact on me as a kid.   Smokey came into the studio to hang out and sign them. He's a really nice, upbeat guy who has a real lust for life, maybe that's why he looks like he hasn't aged in 30 years. Believe it or not, Smokey signed every single print with his very beautiful and painstaking signature. It's worth picking up a print for that alone.   Mention the name Smokey Robinson and the first thing that automatically comes to mind is Motown. It's understandable given that it was Robinson's hits, first as the leader of the Miracles, and then later as a solo artist that propelled the famed label during the 60s." -Shepard Fairey

African American

African American culture and identity. In graffiti art, African Americans are often depicted as powerful and heroic figures, while in pop art they are portrayed in a more humorous and ironic way. In graffiti art, African American culture is often celebrated through the use of bold colors and imagery. Graffiti artists have used their art to promote social justice and racial equality, often depicting African American leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X as symbols of strength and resilience. Additionally, graffiti art has been used to highlight the challenges faced by African Americans, such as police brutality and systemic racism. Many graffiti artists use their art to draw attention to these issues and call for change. In pop art, African Americans are often portrayed in a more satirical and humorous way. Pop artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein used African American cultural references, such as images of black athletes and musicians, as a way to comment on popular culture and consumerism. However, some pop artists also used their art to critique the ways in which African Americans were portrayed in mainstream media, challenging negative stereotypes and promoting positive images of black culture. In addition to celebrating African American culture and identity, graffiti art has also been used to address social issues that disproportionately affect the black community. For example, some graffiti artists have used their art to call attention to the school-to-prison pipeline, which refers to the practice of funneling students, particularly students of color, out of the public school system and into the criminal justice system. Graffiti art has also been used to address issues such as gentrification, poverty, and access to healthcare. Pop art has also been used to address social issues affecting the black community. Pop artists like Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat used their art to critique the racial inequality and social injustice they saw around them. Basquiat, in particular, used his art to highlight the ways in which black culture had been appropriated by white artists and popular culture. Both graffiti art and pop art have also been used as a way for African American artists to claim their place in the art world. Historically, black artists have faced barriers to entry in the art world, with many struggling to find representation and recognition for their work. Graffiti art and pop art have provided alternative avenues for African American artists to express themselves and gain visibility. In recent years, African American artists have continued to use graffiti art and pop art as a way to explore and express their identities and experiences. This has led to a vibrant and diverse body of work that continues to challenge and inspire audiences around the world.
