Shepard Fairey- OBEY War By Numbers VSE OG Colorway HPM Stencil Shepard Fairey x Ernesto Yerena Montejano x Hecho Con Ganas x Obey

War By Numbers VSE- OG Colorway Variable Stencil Edition Acrylic Artwork on Hand Deckled Fine Art Paper by Street Artists Shepard Fairey x Ernesto Yerena Montejano x Hecho Con Ganas x Obey. 2022 War By Numbers VSE- OG Colorway 20x26.5 inches. Signed & Numbered Ultra Rare Edition of 14. Variable Stencil Edition (VSE) on Paper. Signed by Shepard Fairey, Hecho Con Ganas publishing chop in the lower-left corner. "Created during the Iraq war, but the quest for peace requires perpetual vigilance, and the current invasion of Ukraine is a reminder of the brutality of war. The “War By Numbers” image is a statement about not becoming desensitized by war to the extent that it becomes as banal as a paint-by-numbers image. The “Peace Elephant” is an appeal to our sense of Karma and harmony with the world around us." - Shepard Fairey A profound intersection of artistry and activism emerges in "War By Numbers VSE- OG Colorway," an emblematic piece presented by the collaborative brilliance of Shepard Fairey, Ernesto Yerena Montejano, Hecho Con Ganas, and Obey. Showcased on meticulously hand-deckled fine art paper, this 20x26.5 inch artwork not only exemplifies the prowess of its creators but also delves deeply into the social and political fabric of contemporary global scenarios. Dated 2022, this piece holds the distinction of being an ultra-rare Variable Stencil Edition (VSE) on paper, with only 14 such editions in existence, each one thoughtfully signed and numbered. Notably, the presence of the Hecho Con Ganas publishing chop in the lower-left corner augments its authenticity and intrinsic value. While the artwork itself is a marvel of color interplay and design, its underlying message is both timeless and urgent. Shepard Fairey's own words elucidate the motivation behind its creation, highlighting its inception during the Iraq war. Yet, its resonance extends beyond that particular conflict. The piece emerges as an enduring reminder of the costs of warfare, particularly with the poignant backdrop of the recent Ukraine invasion. Fairey astutely draws attention to the dangers of becoming inured to the horrors of conflict, suggesting that society must never allow war's devastation to become as commonplace and mundane as a paint-by-numbers image. This sentiment is further emphasized by the inclusion of the "Peace Elephant," symbolizing the universal aspiration for harmony and an appeal to humanity's collective conscience. In the vast realm of pop art, street art, and graffiti, "War By Numbers" stands as a testament to art's ability to transcend aesthetic appeal, challenging viewers to confront and engage with the world's most pressing issues.

The Fugees Collaboration with B+ is a limited edition silkscreen print that encapsulates the intersection of music and visual art through the joint venture of street artist Ernesto Yerena and photographer Brian Cross, known professionally as B+. This 1-color hand-pulled print on fine art paper was crafted in 2021 and is a part of an exclusive collection limited to 250 signed and numbered pieces, each with dimensions of 24x18 inches. This artwork portrays the iconic trio of the rap group The Fugees—Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, and Pras Michel—rendered in a style that merges the raw energy of street art with the sophisticated minimalism of modern pop art. Yerena, known for his works that often explore themes of cultural identity and political commentary, brings his unique stencil-like graphics to the mix, translating B+'s photographic capture into a high-contrast visual statement. B+, an established figure in the music industry through his photographic work, contributes the authenticity of the moment captured, a testament to his intimate relationship with the music scene and his subject matter. This print captures The Fugees in a candid state, seated on a staircase, which might be suggestive of the ascents and descents of their musical journey. The composition's stark lines and sepia-toned color palette highlight the group's unity and distinctive presence within the hip-hop community. The collaboration of Yerena and B+ in creating this print not only pays homage to The Fugees' significant impact on rap music but also immortalizes them within the legacy of pop art and street culture. This artwork is not merely a representation of the artists but a narrative piece that speaks to the broader cultural implications of their work and influence. It showcases how street art can elevate musical icons to a status that transcends their original medium, cementing their images within the public's consciousness through visual art. Each print in this series serves as an homage to the power of collaboration across artistic disciplines and the shared heritage of music and art within urban cultural landscapes.

This 4-color hand-pulled print on fine art paper is the creative collaboration between the photographer Arlene Mejorado and artist Ernesto Yerena Montejano, illustrating the vitality of indigenous heritage through the lens of contemporary artistry. Released in 2020, this piece is a part of a limited edition of 300 signed and numbered artworks, each measuring 18x24 inches, allowing the viewer to immerse in its detail and messaging at a significant scale. The print features a young girl at its center, set against a backdrop that bursts with vibrant color and geometric patterns reminiscent of traditional indigenous art. These patterns surround the subject in a halo-like manner, suggesting a spiritual or ancestral connection. The girl's pose, with arms outstretched, further symbolizes an embrace of her cultural legacy, conveying a sense of openness and acceptance. Yerena's use of bold lines and vivid hues is characteristic of his work, which often highlights cultural and political themes, particularly those pertaining to his Chicano heritage. Mejorado's collaboration brings an added layer of authenticity, capturing the essence of the subject with photographic precision before it is transformed through Yerena's distinctive graphic style. This artwork speaks to a reclamation of identity and a celebration of cultural roots within the urban context. It bridges communities and dialogues by reclaiming public spaces for indigenous narratives through the medium of street art. Dignity Prevails HPM Limited Edition Hand-Embellished HPM Stencil Spray Paint Artworks on Deckled 100% Cotton Rag Paper by Ernesto Yerena Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2021 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 10 Artwork Size 20x26 Hand Spray Painted Stencils on 100% Cotton Rag Paper Hand Deckled Edges "Dignity Prevails HPM" emerges as a standout work within the oeuvre of Ernesto Yerena, a contemporary street artist whose works are imbued with modern pop art sensibilities and a distinct sociopolitical consciousness. This hand-embellished, limited edition series, comprising only 10 signed and numbered pieces, was brought to life in 2021. Each artwork within this exclusive collection features an artwork size of 20x26 inches, rendered on 100% cotton rag paper known for its durability and high quality. The edges of the paper are meticulously hand-deckled, giving each piece a textured, refined finish that complements the tactile nature of the stencil spray paint technique employed by Yerena. Yerena's "Dignity Prevails HPM" is a visual testimony to his mastery in stencil spray paint, a medium that has become synonymous with graffiti and street art. Through this medium, Yerena constructs a layered, vibrant composition that converges bold patterns and striking symbolism. At the heart of this piece lies a mandala-like pattern, which exudes both a meditative symmetry and a fiery dynamism. This central motif is surrounded by waves that may allude to the ebbs and flows of social movements, suggesting that within the chaos of struggle, there is beauty and order to be found in the pursuit of dignity. The hand embellishments on each print ensure that while each piece remains a part of a cohesive series, it stands alone as a unique piece of art. Yerena's use of vibrant colors and bold shapes is characteristic of pop art. Yet, his method and message are deeply rooted in the traditions of street art, which often serve as a platform for commentary and a voice for the underrepresented. The small number of editions amplifies the value and collectibility of the artwork, making it not just a piece of art but a collectible artifact that captures a moment in the artist's creative journey and the more extensive dialogue of contemporary societal issues. In the hands of collectors, "Dignity Prevails HPM" transcends its material form to become a symbol of the resilience and enduring nature of human dignity as depicted through the lens of modern pop and street art.

Particularly, I so remember the early 90’s and seeing a lot of Raider, Charger, Chivas de Guadalajara and America jersey’s and of course those of the Dodger’s and their blue and white hats with the iconic LA blazoned on the front. But my immediate family was different. My dad who in the early 1990’s sold automotive paint and painted cars was surprisingly not that much into the usual sports but all except for BOXING! At that point in time I remember the gatherings at my house when there was a Julio Ces One- Rob Provenzano ar Chavez fight, a De La Hoya fight or a Maromero Paez fight. My dad would bring the TV outside, set-up a bunch of chairs, roll out the grill, fire up the mesquite and lay down the marinated carne asada before the first round bell. I remember how much fun those days were and how much pride people had in the Mexican fighters." -Ernesto Yerena Montejano

This 2-color hand-pulled limited edition silkscreen print, produced under his studio label Hecho Con Ganas, captures the essence of resistance against colonial powers and their historical narratives. Created in 2019, it is a testament to Yerena Montejano's dedication to fusing art with social commentary. The artwork, sized at 18x24 inches, is a limited edition with only 100 signed and numbered pieces, adding an exclusive aspect to its acquisition. The artist's Mexican-American heritage profoundly influences the imagery and themes present in his works, and "Resist Colonialism" is no exception. The stark contrast of the red and black ink, a hallmark of silkscreen printing, resonates with the simplicity yet power of revolutionary posters, echoing the visual language of protest and propaganda throughout history. Yerena Montejano's choice of symbols, juxtaposing a pirate ship bearing both the emblems of hazardous material and the iconic skull and crossbones, underscores the danger and death associated with colonial conquests. The backdrop, an unyielding red circle, could be interpreted as a reference to the rising sun, symbolizing a new dawn of awareness and opposition to colonialism.
