The exhibition of over 40 new paintings and multiples explores the wondrous decay of social morality stemming from modern society’s obsession with pop culture and overindulgent materialism, and continues Meggs’ perpetual fascination with dualism and finding beauty in tragedy.“Detroit is a city of duality more so than many other cities I have been to. I sought to incorporate this by using objects and surfaces that imply decay, in what I consider to be a beautiful way. Old wooden materials and signs with layers of paint tell a story of their own. While my graffiti is generally limited to the street, I decided to showcase three original canvases exclusively for 1xRUN.As an artist, I have deep and passionate respect for the forefathers of the Pop Art Movement. Some of my greatest influence has come from Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. They planted the seeds in the latter part of the 20th century which changed people's perception of art. It's remarkable when a handful of individuals can spawn a revolution that will continue for many years to come, well into the 21st century. They created a paradigm shift in how art was to be interpreted and became the legendary masters." - Sen2

  • Sale -25% Sidewalk Closed Original Mixed Media Street Sign Painting by Sonic Bad

Sonic Bad Sidewalk Closed Original Mixed Media Street Sign Painting by Sonic Bad

Sidewalk Closed Original Mixed Media Graffiti Artist Modern Pop Art on Real Metal Street Sign by Sonic Bad. 2012 Signed Original Spray Paint & Metal Street Sign Artwork Size 24x18 Depicting 2 1970s-80s Stylized Beat Boys, NYC Graffiti Tags & Bubble Letters on Street Closed Sign Sonic Bad's Ode to the Streets: The 'Sidewalk Closed' Series The 'Sidewalk Closed' artwork by Sonic Bad, an original piece created in 2012, infuses the rebellious spirit of 1970s and 80s street culture into a medium that is emblematic of urban restriction: a real metal street sign. This mixed media work, signed by the artist, is a striking example of how street pop art and graffiti can repurpose public regulatory objects into canvases that challenge and reinterpret their original intent. Reclaiming Urban Symbols in Street Art Sonic Bad's choice of canvas—a metal street sign—turns an everyday symbol of control into a representation of creative liberation. The artwork, sized at 24x18 inches, is vibrant with color and life, presenting a stark contrast to the sign's mundane purpose of demarcating boundaries. By painting over it, Sonic Bad claims the object for art, much like graffiti artists claim walls for their tags and murals. The piece itself is a dynamic collage of NYC graffiti tags and bubble letters, styles deeply rooted in the history of street art. It showcases two stylized beat boys, figures that resonate with the hip-hop culture that was burgeoning on the streets of New York City during the 70s and 80s. These characters are not only representations of a specific era but also symbols of the energy and rhythm of street life. The Visual Language of Graffiti and Its Evolution Sonic Bad's work serves as a visual lexicon of graffiti's evolution, encapsulating the transition from tagging—often a raw, text-based expression of identity—to more complex and stylized works. The 'Sidewalk Closed' series is particularly evocative of this shift, highlighting the movement from simple letterforms to elaborate and colorful representations that are as much about the artistry of the line as they are about the message. The aerosol paint, a medium synonymous with graffiti, brings authenticity to the piece, its drips and opacity echoing the textures of street art seen in the wild. The metal sign, once reflective and directive, becomes muted and textured under layers of paint, a metaphor for the way street art can change the nature and conversation around public spaces and objects. Sonic Bad and the Living History of Street Art Sonic Bad's 'Sidewalk Closed' is more than a singular work; it is part of the living history of street pop art and graffiti artwork. It reflects a time when street culture began to permeate every aspect of urban life, from the music that played out of boomboxes to the art that adorned the walls and sidewalks of the city. This piece is a celebration of that era, a nod to the roots of street art, and a statement on its enduring influence. The artist, by merging nostalgia with contemporary expression, invites onlookers to explore the depth and breadth of street art. Through this work, Sonic Bad not only pays homage to the pioneers of the genre but also places himself within the continuum of artists who have utilized the street as their gallery. His legacy lies in his ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary, ensuring that the spirit of the streets remains vibrant and visible.

Sidewalk Closed- Wood Original Mixed Media Graffiti Artist Modern Pop Art on Real Street Sign by Sonic Bad. 2018 Signed Original Spray Paint & Mixed Media on Wooden New York City NYC Sidewalk Closed Vintage Sign Artwork Size 21.5x11.5 The Artistic Alchemy of Sonic Bad: Reimagining Public Notices Sonic Bad's 'Sidewalk Closed - Wood' is an exemplary showcase of modern pop art manifested through the lens of street sensibilities and graffiti culture. Created in 2018, this signed original piece is a vibrant declaration of the transformative power inherent in street pop art and graffiti artwork. The fusion of spray paint and mixed media on a wooden canvas that once served as a New York City sidewalk sign encapsulates the artist's penchant for repurposing the functional into the visually extraordinary. Technique and Symbolism in Sonic Bad's Work The artwork, measuring 21.5x11.5 inches, is a testament to Sonic Bad's mastery over mixed media. The piece harmoniously integrates the textures of wood with the fluidity of spray paint, achieving a layered effect that adds depth and complexity to the composition. The choice of a 'Sidewalk Closed' sign is significant; it takes an object that signifies obstruction and transforms it into a portal of creative expression, thus inviting reflection on the role of public space and the rules that govern it. Sonic Bad's approach to the sign is subversive yet playful, disrupting its original intent and engaging viewers in a dialogue about the accessibility of art and public communication. The vibrant color palette and intricate design work serve to capture the gaze and provoke thought, a hallmark of effective street pop art. The way the letterforms and characters are interwoven with the sign's warning embodies a kind of artistic alchemy, turning the mundane into the magical. Impact and Reception of Sonic Bad's Street Sign Artwork The 'Sidewalk Closed - Wood' piece by Sonic Bad does not simply occupy space; it commands attention and interaction. Its existence in a gallery or a private collection continues to challenge perceptions of street art's place within the art world hierarchy. Sonic Bad's work is celebrated for its unabashed embrace of street art aesthetics while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of what such art can communicate and how it is perceived. Sonic Bad, an artist who remains an enigmatic figure in the graffiti art scene, utilizes anonymity as a tool, allowing the work to speak for itself. The artist's contributions to street pop art are measured by the vibrancy of the pieces left in public view and the conversations they ignite. The influence of such work extends beyond the streets, infiltrating popular culture and challenging traditional art's status quo. Sonic Bad's Legacy in Street Pop Art Sonic Bad's 'Sidewalk Closed - Wood' is not merely a piece of reclaimed street furniture but a microcosm of street art's potential to redefine the aesthetics of urban living. This work stands as a cultural artifact, a piece of New York City's story told through the eyes of a street artist. Sonic Bad's legacy is enshrined in every color splash and line twist, a testament to the enduring allure and social commentary of street pop art and graffiti artwork. The legacy of artists like Sonic Bad is often measured by the endurance of their work in the public imagination and their ability to inspire future generations of artists. By turning a sidewalk sign into a canvas, Sonic Bad has not only altered the sign's trajectory but also contributed to the narrative of street art as a form of modern pop art. This piece will continue to be a point of reference for discussions about the interplay between public space and artistic freedom, embodying the spirit of street art that refuses to be sidelined.

  • Sale -25% Peoples Power Original Stencil Spray Paint Wood Panel Painting by Icy & Sot

Icy & Sot Peoples Power Original Stencil Spray Paint Wood Panel Painting by Icy & Sot

Peoples Power Original Painting Mixed Media Stencil & Spray Paint on Cut Out Wood Panel by Icy & Sot Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2015 Signed Original Spray Paint & Stencil Painting on Cut-Out Wood Artwork Size 21x46 "Life Size" "American Dream is inspired by the homeless guy holding ag Starbucks cup and asking for money. There are a lot of homeless people in New York, but they are invisible in between skyscrapers. We painted him bigger than the Empire State Building so he can be noticed more." - Icy &. Sot Decoding the Visual Language of 'People's Power' The artwork titled 'People's Power' by the street artist duo Icy & Sot is a striking example of modern pop art that interweaves the raw intensity of graffiti with the engaging allure of stencil work. Created in 2015, this original piece was meticulously crafted using mixed media, predominantly stencil and spray paint, on a cut-out wood panel. The artists' choice of materials and their technique tell of their deep roots in the traditions of street pop art and graffiti artwork, where the use of spray paint is iconic, and stencils allow for sharp, repeatable imagery that can be rapidly executed in the often tricky environments of public spaces. Artistic Expression on Social Realities 'People's Power' resonates with the ethos of street art by boldly tackling socio-political themes. Icy & Sot's work often reflects a keen awareness of contemporary issues; this piece is no exception. The narrative behind the 'American Dream' — the inspiration for 'People's Power' — stems from the artist's observation of a homeless individual in New York City, cradling a Starbucks cup while begging for money. This poignant scene, set against the backdrop of towering skyscrapers, sparked the creation of an artwork that seeks to amplify the presence of the often overlooked and marginalized figures in urban landscapes. The Symbolic Imagery of 'People's Power' In 'People's Power,' the central figure is depicted as larger than life, overshadowing the iconic Empire State Building. This artistic choice elevates the subject, literally and figuratively, granting him a visibility that is usually denied in real life. The mixed crowd surrounding the central figure appears to be in solidarity, suggesting a collective uprising or a unified stand against societal issues. The vibrant colors splashed across the face of the central figure add a sense of vitality and perhaps a glimmer of hope amidst the stark black and white of the crowd. Technique and Form in Icy & Sot's Creative Process The technical prowess of Icy & Sot is evident in the stencil work's precision and the spray paint's controlled chaos. By opting for a wood panel as the substrate, the artists step away from the transient nature of street walls, allowing 'People's Power' to exist as a portable manifesto of their artistic and ideological stance. The cut-out form of the artwork disrupts the conventional rectangular canvas, giving the piece an almost sculptural presence that echoes the three-dimensional experience of encountering street art in the wild. Contextualizing 'People's Power' Within Street Pop Art 'People's Power' is more than a visually captivating piece; it is a cultural artifact that encapsulates the spirit of street pop art. Icy & Sot have successfully harnessed the expressive potential of graffiti artwork to communicate with a broad audience, transcending linguistic and cultural barriers. The artwork's accessibility is crucial to its impact, following the tradition of street art that speaks directly to the public, unfiltered by the gatekeeping norms of traditional galleries and museums. Impact and Legacy of 'People's Power' The legacy of 'People's Power' lies in its ability to confront and converse with its audience about uncomfortable truths. As with many seminal works in the street pop art genre, this piece's value is amplified by its relevance to contemporary societal discourses. Icy & Sot's commitment to addressing the uncomfortable facets of modernity is what positions 'People's Power' as not only an object of aesthetic admiration but also as a beacon of social consciousness in the realm of modern art.

Lady With Sphinx Original Painting Oil On Linen Mounted To Wood With Frame by Aaron Nagel Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2015 Signed Original Oil Painting Framed by Aaron Negal Measuring 26x30 "'Lady With a Sphinx" was humbly modeled after the Leonardo DaVinci painting, "Lady With An Ermine." It is my second attempt at a painting modeled after a classic, the first being my version (of Bouguereau’s version) of the Piéta. I have always liked "Lady With An Ermine;" the lighting on the figure, the stark background, the lettering in the upper left-hand corner, and of course, the Ermine (because what the fuck is an ermine?!)Trying to get the reference photo looking similar was a challenge, but an enjoyable one, as I never have a concrete idea of how I want a reference to look, so there tends to be a lot of trial and error. This time, I messed with it until the pose and lighting were right, then just took a few hundred pictures there, with very subtle pose and expression changes. This piece was painted for the “Three Figures” exhibition at Maxwell Alexander Gallery in June of 2014. It was a 3-man show, with Jeremy Mann, Sean Cheetham, and myself. They are two of my favorite artists, so it was a huge honor to show with them." - Aaron Nagel

During the mid-1990s Cope2 started slowly transitioning from the streets to the art scene of the galleries. At that time, street art was not as popular as it is in our days and the general public’s idea of it was still inextricably connected to ghettos, drug dealing, etc. The artist has never hidden his troubling past and avoids idealizing it, as a way to enhance his career and artistic persona. On the contrary, he mentions the following: “Oh man, there’s nothing to be proud of in hustling, but I had my first child at the age of 16, my son. So I had to make money to support him and his mother.

I often revisit it, and she has been the longest continuing character I've created. I often write backstories for these characters to help me create the pieces, but they are generally never shared with the viewer. The Goldfish Girl was born in mainland China and raised mostly by a single father. Her mother passed away when she was 18 months old from cancer. She was often very ill as a child and was eventually diagnosed with a compromised immune system disorder, although a precise diagnosis was never given. This is the reason for always wearing the mask and gloves. Her father bred Goldfish for a living and taught her that trade as a kid. They worked side by side and rarely had visitors because of her condition. Often being extremely ill and also losing her mother made her childhood difficult. As most children do, she tried to find a reason for her misfortune, a reason for why all this had happened to her and her father. Eventually, she believed that her illness and her mother's cancer were punishment by nature. A curse for toying with nature by breeding goldfish. Eventually, her father passed away as well. Needing to make a living and also to taunt fate she illegally immigrated to Hong Kong. There is a famous goldfish market in Mong Kok on Tung Choi street, but it's commonly called goldfish street. With a compromised immune system the most dangerous thing to her was other people. As a challenge to fate, she moved to one of the most densely populated cities in the world. She got a stall on Tung Choi Street. This is her challenge, to taunt fate and win, becoming the master of her own fate. These images are vignettes of her life in Hong Kong. I've never given the character a name. Sometimes she is pictured with a boombox because music becomes a central companion to her mostly solitary life. In the piece Cacophony I wanted her to literally be surrounded by the city. In some way, I think I tried to create a character that embodied a lot of traits I aspire to. To remind me.” - Eddie Colla

This 2010 original painting is a vivid example of the fusion of spray paint, acrylic paint, and mixed media on cradled wood. At a sizeable 24x24 inches, this ready-to-hang piece is an authentic Cope2 creation, complete with his iconic bubble letters that burst with the energy and spontaneity characteristic of his work. This particular piece of the Detroit Series is a rich tapestry of color, texture, and form. Cope2's choice of material marks a conscious step towards the permanence and longevity of his art, aligning with his desire to evolve and adapt over his thirty-plus years of creating. By employing a mixed media approach, Cope2 bridges the gap between graffiti's raw, street-level artistry and the refined, deliberate nature of studio-created works. The artwork serves as a visual narrative of his stylistic evolution, revealing the layers of growth and change that define his career. Cope2's work, with its signature aesthetic and commitment to graffiti's core values, has played a pivotal role in redefining the perceptions of street-inspired art. The series, particularly this piece, exemplifies the fluid nature of contemporary art, where genres intersect and new forms emerge. They are reminders of the roots of this art form in the uncommissioned, often unsanctioned expressions found in urban environments worldwide. Yet, they also signify the possibility of transcendence, of art that can rise from the streets to hang on the walls of collectors and enthusiasts who value the authenticity and raw power that graffiti embodies. In assessing Cope2's "Detroit Series 16" legacy, one cannot help but recognize the artist's influence on the trajectory of street pop art and graffiti artwork. His ability to navigate the transition from street to studio without losing the essence of graffiti's spirit is remarkable. The series offers a visual testimony to Cope2's enduring relevance in the art world, highlighting his role not just as an artist but as a chronicler of street art's dynamic and ever-evolving language. The work is a significant contribution to the ongoing conversation about the place of street art within the larger context of art history. His art does not exist in a vacuum but as a vibrant commentary on the environment from which it springs. Once relegated to the fringes of the art world, considered an act of vandalism, graffiti has been recontextualized through works like those of Cope2. These pieces reflect the changing narratives around street art, elevating it to a form of street pop art that mirrors society's evolving attitudes towards public space, ownership, and artistic liberty. The re-purposed nature of my art plays off of panels, wood, signs, that once were proudly displayed. But over the years they stopped serving their intended purpose and thrown out. The inspiration behind the work I made for this show was Detroit's strengths, struggles, and landscape. I took the opportunity to move to Detroit fourteen years ago, but for a number of reasons beyond my control, my stay lasted only 4 years. However, that was long enough for the city to have a profound impact on my work as well as my consciousness towards social and political issues. And even though I haven't called Detroit home in 9 years, the impression it stamped on me is something I hope I never lose. And it was this appreciation for the influence that DETROIT has had on me, that inspired the work I made for the show.” -Bask

Market Dynamics of Sales and Discounts in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

The market for Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork has experienced significant growth, with an increasing demand for various art forms, including graffiti pop art prints, originals, art toys, skateboards, and art spray paint cans. This surge in popularity has led to a dynamic marketplace where sales and discounts play a crucial role in making these art forms accessible to a broader audience. The availability of sales and discounts on these items benefits collectors and enthusiasts and helps promote the artists and their work.

Trends in Sales of Graffiti Pop Art Prints and Originals

Graffiti pop art prints and originals have become highly sought-after items in the art market. Prints offer an affordable entry point for new collectors, allowing them to own a piece of their favorite artist’s work without the higher price tag of an original. Discounts on these prints, especially during special events or exhibitions, further enhance their accessibility. On the other hand, original works are valued for their uniqueness and their direct connection to the artist. Sales periods often see a spike in purchasing original works as collectors seize the opportunity to acquire unique pieces at reduced prices.

Popularity and Sales of Art Toys, Skateboards, and Art Spray Paint Cans

Art toys, skateboards, and spray paint cans represent a fusion of street art culture with lifestyle and functional objects. Art toys, often created in collaboration with renowned street artists, have emerged as collectible items, blending artistic expression with toy design. Adorned with street art, the skateboards have transcended their functional use to become decorative art pieces. Similarly, art spray paint cans, often featuring artist-specific designs, have become collectibles in their own right. Sales and discounts on these items, particularly during holidays or special releases, attract buyers looking to own a piece of street culture.

Impact of Sales and Discounts on the Street Pop Art and Graffiti Art Market

Sales and discounts on Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork have a multifaceted impact. For artists, they provide an opportunity to reach a wider audience, potentially increasing their fan base and recognition. For buyers, these sales make purchasing and collecting art more feasible, thereby supporting the artists and the wider street art community. Additionally, discounts on art supplies like spray paint cans can encourage aspiring artists to experiment and create, fostering new talent in the street art scene.

Future of Sales and Discounts in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

As the market for Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork continues to evolve, the role of sales and discounts will likely adapt as well. The increasing digitization of the art market, including online galleries and virtual exhibitions, may offer new platforms for sales and promotional activities. These developments could further democratize street and pop art access, allowing more people to engage with and support this vibrant art form. The future of sales and discounts in this sector appears promising, with potential benefits for artists, collectors, and the art community.
