  • C/S I Silkscreen Pearl Print by OG Slick x Chaz Bojorquez

OG Slick C/S I Silkscreen Pearl Print by OG Slick x Chaz Bojorquez

C/S I 9-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Distressed Pearl White Finish Silkscreen Print on 250gsm Stonehenge White Fine Art Paper by OG Slick x Chaz Bojorquez Rare Street Art Famous Pop Artwork Artist. 2016 Signed by OG Slick x Chaz Bojorquez & Numbered Limited Edition of 150 P1  Exploring the Intricacies of C/S I by OG Slick and Chaz Bojorquez The collaboration between OG Slick and Chaz Bojorquez has given rise to C/S I, a 9-color hand-pulled limited edition silkscreen print that showcases the nuanced synergy between street pop art and graffiti artwork. Crafted in 2016, this work is part of a limited series, each piece bearing the artist's signature and numbered P1 out of 150, marking its exclusivity and importance as a collector's item. The collaboration between these two stalwarts of the street art scene synthesizes their distinct artistic voices into a unified visual statement that resonates with the energy and ethos of the urban landscape from which it draws inspiration. OG Slick, whose roots are firmly planted in the street culture of Los Angeles, brings his iconic imagery to the collaboration. His contributions to the C/S I print are characterized by the cartoon-like gloves that gesture towards the viewer, a direct and impactful use of imagery that has become a signature of his work. This graphical element starkly contrasts the intricate background, inviting a dialogue about the interaction between pop culture and the subversive nature of graffiti art. Signature Elements and Cultural Commentary in C/S I Chaz Bojorquez's influence within the C/S I print is unmistakable. His signature calligraphic style, derived from the Cholo writing of East Los Angeles, provides a rich textual backdrop to Slick's bold graphical elements. The layers of text in print are reminiscent of the palimpsest nature of street art, where messages are layered upon one another, creating a complex tapestry that speaks to the community's pulse. Bojorquez's artistry with letters goes beyond mere aesthetics, delving into the identity politics and social narratives that have always been at the heart of his work. The distressed pearl white finish on the print adds a dimension of age and texture, suggesting a weathered quality often found in street art exposed to the elements. This choice of finish not only enhances the visual depth of the piece but also bridges the gap between the transient nature of street art and the permanence sought by fine art pieces. The Stonehenge White Fine Art Paper, known for its quality and durability, reinforces the intention to preserve the fleeting beauty of street art in a form that stands the test of time. The Limited Edition Nature of C/S I and Its Collectibility The limited edition nature of the C/S I print underscores its value within street pop art and graffiti artwork. The fact that only 150 of these prints exist, each signed by the artists OG Slick and Chaz Bojorquez, elevates the work from mere reproduction to a coveted art piece. Collectors and enthusiasts of street art are drawn to the visual appeal of the work and the cultural capital that such a limited series represents. Owning a piece of this series is akin to holding a fragment of street art history, a snapshot of the moment when two renowned artists converged to leave an indelible mark on the art world. Impact of C/S I on the Perception of Street Art The impact of C/S I goes beyond the boundaries of traditional graffiti and street art. By situating the work within the context of pop art, OG Slick and Chaz Bojorquez challenge the viewer to reconsider the distinctions between high art and urban art forms. The collaboration speaks to the versatility and adaptability of street art, its ability to comment on and absorb influences from various artistic movements, and its persistent quest to gain legitimacy and respect within the art hierarchy. The print's visual elements reflect a sophisticated understanding of cultural symbols, iconography, and the power of the written word, all staples in street pop art and graffiti artwork. The collaboration between OG Slick and Chaz Bojorquez on C/S I is symbolic of a movement that refuses to be categorized simplistically, instead insisting on a complex identity as fluid and vibrant as the streets from which it originates. Through their artistic fusion, these artists contribute to the ongoing narrative of street art as a form that constantly evolves yet remains true to its roots in the urban tapestry.

This piece, created in 2016, is a fine example of how two artists can merge their distinctive styles to create a unique work that reflects their individual artistic identities. The 9-color hand-pulled limited edition distressed pearl white finish silkscreen print on 250gsm Stonehenge White Fine Art Paper is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and artistic vision shared by the two legends of the street art scene. OG Slick, an artist with a background deeply rooted in the Los Angeles graffiti movement, brings his iconic imagery and urban sensibilities to the piece. Known for his bold and often subversive visual language, Slick’s contribution to C/S II is immediately apparent in the stylized cartoon hands and contemporary iconography that speaks to street culture's commercial and gritty aspects. His work has often been characterized by a playfulness that belies a more profound commentary on social and cultural issues. This is evident in how he manipulates familiar symbols and characters to challenge viewers’ perceptions. Chaz Bojorquez's Signature Style in C/S II Chaz Bojorquez’s influence in the piece is equally profound. His signature style, which draws from the Cholo graffiti tradition and his sophisticated understanding of typography, complements Slick’s more whimsical elements with a sense of gravity and history. The calligraphic strokes and the intricate lettering in the background of C/S II are unmistakably Bojorquez’s, showcasing his mastery over form and ability to convey a rich cultural narrative through his art. His work captures the essence of a subculture that has often been marginalized, elevating it to a level of fine art that demands recognition and respect. The collaboration between these two artists on C/S II is a dialogue between different eras and styles within the street art genre. While OG Slick’s work is often seen as a bridge between the early days of street art and the modern aesthetic, Bojorquez represents the soulful, enduring aspects of graffiti art woven into the cultural fabric of urban life. Together, their work on this print creates a complex interplay of color, form, and symbolism that celebrates street art’s past and a bold statement about its future. Cultural Significance of the Limited Edition C/S II Print The cultural significance of the C/S II print lies in its embodiment of the spirit of street pop art and graffiti artwork. Limited to an edition of 150, each print is signed by OG Slick and Chaz Bojorquez, making it a rare and collectible piece that holds great value for street art lovers. The decision to limit the edition not only underscores the value of the artwork but also speaks to the ethos of street art, where the fleeting nature of the medium often means that works can be temporary and transient. By capturing this transient essence in a tangible form, OG Slick and Bojorquez have created a lasting artifact of street culture. The piece is particularly notable for its distressed pearl white finish, which adds texture and depth to the print. This finish gives the artwork a tactile quality that invites closer inspection and suggests a history behind the image as if it has been weathered by time and the elements – a nod to the real-world conditions of street art. The use of Stonehenge White Fine Art Paper further elevates the piece, marrying the raw energy of graffiti with the refinement of fine art printing techniques. Impact and Legacy of C/S II in Street Art and Pop Culture The impact and legacy of C/S II in street art and pop culture are significant. By bringing together two influential artists from different generations, the print bridges the early days of Los Angeles graffiti and the contemporary street art scene. It reflects the genre's evolution, showing how it can be a personal means of expression and a sophisticated art form. The print’s aesthetic, marked by the interplay of Bojorquez’s calligraphic skill and Slick’s graphic sensibility, exemplifies the potential of street art to engage with broader artistic movements and to be recognized in the wider context of pop art. As a piece of street pop and graffiti artwork, C/S II is a powerful example of the genre’s ability to adapt and grow while retaining its core principles. It is a reminder of the enduring influence of artists like OG Slick and Chaz Bojorquez, who continue to shape and inspire the trajectory of street art. Through works like this, they ensure that the streets' vibrant energy, defiance, and creativity remain a vital part of our cultural landscape.

  • Can't Sleep Clowns Will Eat Me- 17 x 17 Archival Print by Ben Frost

Ben Frost Can't Sleep Clowns Will Eat Me- 17 x 17 Archival Print by Ben Frost

Can't Sleep Clowns Will Eat Me- 17 x 17 Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Museum Natural Fine Art Paper by Ben Frost Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "The world is run by clowns. Moronic and colorful, they dance across our television screens touting surreal propaganda and advertising slogans in a bizarre theatrical performance without intermission. No wonder I have trouble sleeping.? I use mini-dialogues that come together to make up an overall pastiche, that reflects how I see the world – especially as it is delivered to us through the media. In these 'mash-up' paintings, countless characters exist and interact within the same picture plane, to create a frenetic snapshot of the chaos that we endure in our every-day lives. " - Ben Frost Ben Frost is utilizing imagery familiar to western culture in order to make a statement about the culture itself on the basis of consumerism, modern icons, big corporations, etc. Animation characters, pop icons, brand logos, and many more are transformed into vibrant artworks and find their place in galleries. With this in mind, and in the case of Ben Frost, it is futile to try to identify a clear borderline between low and high art. In reality, the artist wants the audience to think on the terms of high or low value and, by extension, what these actually mean. Over the years street artists have managed to establish themselves as respected creators and some of them have even gained international fame, transforming graffiti from a fringe art, aiming sometimes to mark street gangs’ territory, into big business.

Dvate Carmel Custard Flow Silkscreen Print by Dvate

Carmel Custard Flow Limited Edition 4-Color Hand-Pulled Silkscreen Print on Mohawk Fine Art Paper by Dvate Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "The print is based of an original artwork that was produced a few years back for a group show at our old gallery PerSquareMetre. I was exploring degradation and layering and also painting on found objects. The original piece belongs to my wife and she won't give it up! The original piece was created using a combination of acrylic paint and spray enamel. The artwork is painted on an old print that belonged to my Mother. I really liked the texture and weathering of the timber on the back so that’s the side I chose to paint. The cheesy 50’s print is still on the other side. At the time I was working with a lot of found objects and customizing my letter style to suit them. I have always used layering in my work to create depth and reference to the gritty street walls that were my original canvas."- Dvate

  • Cat Goddess Archival Print by Jeff Soto

Jeff Soto Cat Goddess Archival Print by Jeff Soto

Cat Goddess Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Jeff Soto Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "The "Cat Goddess" is part of a series of paintings looking at the life cycle of living things. I would say I'm "spiritual" but not very religious. We talked about it in my family, we talked about Jesus and God, but we did not practice a religion. I'm always questioning why we're here, and what it's all about, and the answers are never clear to me. I do like to think we have spirits or energy, and I wonder where that energy goes when we pass? I feel that, if humans possess this energy, then all living things must possess it as well. The Cat Goddess is some sort of passageway or portal to somewhere else. I envision the mouth opening and taking the soul to a beautiful and safe place. Maybe Heaven?" - Jeff Soto

Standing at 11 inches tall, the figures were released in conjunction with KAWS' "Where The End Starts" exhibition in Fort Worth, Texas, through various esteemed outlets, including KAWSONE, MoMA, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. The Companion Flayed Brown in the Context of Street Pop Art The Companion Flayed Brown emerges as a sought-after collectible and a significant commentary within street pop art and graffiti artwork. It continues KAWS' exploration of his characters' emotional and narrative depths, a theme consistent throughout his body of work. The figure's brown hue resonates with the earthiness and authenticity often associated with street art, grounding the otherwise ethereal character in the reality of the physical world. Like its counterparts, this edition offers a tangible connection between the artist's beginnings in graffiti and his ascension into the global art market. The release of such a piece through prominent cultural institutions underscores the recognition and acceptance of street-inspired art within formal art circles. The Companion Flayed Brown thus serves as both a milestone for KAWS and a symbol of the evolving perceptions of street pop art in contemporary culture. KAWS and the Evolution of Art Toys KAWS' Companion Flayed Brown symbolizes the evolution of the art toy movement, blurring the lines between plaything and high art. The careful crafting of this collectible, from its conceptual underpinnings to its meticulous production, highlights the artist's commitment to challenging the boundaries of traditional art forms. AP Artist Proof 2016 Signed & Marked AP Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print—vintage Style Lead Fual Gas Pump with Danger No Smoking Sign. "This Danger No Smoking print is inspired by a screen print I made in 1990, which was the very first image I made addressing the environmental and health hazards of gasoline. I took this photograph in Providence, RI at the edge of a desolate graveyard, which probably intensified my interpretation of the peeling paint on the gas pump as a skull. I decided the symbolism provided by natural erosion was powerful enough to make the photo worthy of turning into a print. I always liked this image, and I rediscovered it while looking for images to include in a book surveying my entire history of environmentally themed art." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY Shepard Fairey's "Danger No Smoking AP" is an arresting silkscreen print that fuses the gritty aesthetic of street art with the polished finesse of fine art printmaking. Hand-pulled and consisting of five colors on Cream Speckletone fine art paper, this artwork is part of a limited edition series that showcases Fairey's unique ability to embed powerful social commentary within his art. As an artist proof from 2016, this piece is both signed and marked AP, denoting its status as a work that precedes the official production run and is often kept by the artist for personal archives or sale. This print presents a vintage-style lead fuel gas pump decorated with a "Danger No Smoking" sign—a visual that evokes the retro Americana while simultaneously commenting on contemporary environmental and health concerns. By featuring the warning signs that often accompany hazardous substances, Fairey points to the broader issues of industrial risks and public safety. This theme resonates with the essence of pop art, where mundane commercial imagery is repurposed to make a statement, and it aligns with the spirit of street and graffiti art's focus on message-driven visuals. The artwork's size, 18x24 inches, is significant as it allows the viewer to fully engage with the detailed work, including the intricate patterns that add a layer of complexity to the straightforward cautionary symbols. Fairey's work is recognized for its commanding presence, often utilizing bold lines and stark contrasts to draw attention to the subjects he depicts. In this print, the stark warning signage contrasts with the ornamental background, creating a juxtaposition that is visually stimulating and thought-provoking. Fairey’s “Danger No Smoking AP” print is a testament to his commitment to social engagement through art. It holds a mirror to society's paradoxes, reflecting the often overlooked dangers lurking behind the glossy veneer of consumerist culture. This print, rich in symbolism and executed with the artist's signature style, is a powerful addition to the discourse on pop culture, environmentalism, and the transformative power of street art.

  • DJ Qbert Archival Print by Ben Frost x Denial- Daniel Bombardier

Ben Frost DJ Qbert Archival Print by Ben Frost x Denial- Daniel Bombardier

DJ Qbert Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Ben Frost, Denial, DJ Qbert Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. Canadian artist Denial and Australian-born Ben Frost have joined forces in a bold exhibition of new work that explores the boundaries of appropriation, in confronting re-imaginings of our current dystopian society. "Company of Thieves" at Inner State Gallery in Detroit with special guest DJ Qbert. These self-confessed ‘visual thieves have a long history of stealing and subverting the cultural icons that the advertising and consumerist world has thrust upon us, creating new and pertinent interpretations that are as confronting as they are humorous. This collaboration with DJ Qbert carries on with this theme as all 3 artists join together as a Company of Thieves, sampling and remixing to create something entirely new. Ben Frost is utilizing imagery familiar to western culture in order to make a statement about the culture itself on the basis of consumerism, modern icons, big corporations, etc.
