Particularly, I so remember the early 90’s and seeing a lot of Raider, Charger, Chivas de Guadalajara and America jersey’s and of course those of the Dodger’s and their blue and white hats with the iconic LA blazoned on the front. But my immediate family was different. My dad who in the early 1990’s sold automotive paint and painted cars was surprisingly not that much into the usual sports but all except for BOXING! At that point in time I remember the gatherings at my house when there was a Julio Ces One- Rob Provenzano ar Chavez fight, a De La Hoya fight or a Maromero Paez fight. My dad would bring the TV outside, set-up a bunch of chairs, roll out the grill, fire up the mesquite and lay down the marinated carne asada before the first round bell. I remember how much fun those days were and how much pride people had in the Mexican fighters." -Ernesto Yerena Montejano

  • Wild Vanity Red Silkscreen Print by Stinkfish

Stinkfish Wild Vanity Red Silkscreen Print by Stinkfish

Wild Vanity- Red Hand-Pulled Limited Edition 5-Color Silkscreen Print on Cougar Natural Paper by Stinkfish Rare Street Art Famous Pop Artwork Artist. 2014 Signed & Numbered Wild Vanity by Stinkfish Screen Print Edition of 65 | Signed by the Artist Size: 18" x 22.5" City: Bogata, Colombia. Five color screenprint on Cougar Natural printed at FugScreens Studios, 18″ x 24″. Stinkfish's "Wild Vanity": A Vibrant Fusion in Street Pop Art "Wild Vanity" emerges as an exceptional creation from Stinkfish, an artist renowned for his vivid street pop art and graffiti artwork. This piece represents a striking amalgamation of the artist's signature stencil style with the vibrant color palette that often characterizes his work. Hand-pulled and limited to a series of 65, "Wild Vanity" is a five-color silkscreen print on Cougar Natural paper that showcases Stinkfish's exploration into the vibrancy of human features juxtaposed with the abstract patterns that define his artistic expression. Crafted in 2014 and sized at 18" x 22.5", "Wild Vanity" was brought to life at FugScreens Studios, known for its exceptional screenprinting work. The artist's choice of Cougar Natural paper—a high-quality, uncoated stock—serves as the perfect canvas for the print, ensuring that the colors remain vivid and the details sharp. Each hand-pulled print is signed and numbered by Stinkfish, offering a tangible connection to the artist's hand and vision. The Artistic Language of Stinkfish in "Wild Vanity" The artistic language Stinkfish employs in "Wild Vanity" is bold and subtle. The reds are not merely hues but are symbolic expressions of energy and passion. The silkscreen method allows for a layering effect that gives each color its own space to breathe while contributing to the overall unity of the piece. This technique indicates Stinkfish's roots in graffiti, a world where color, form, and space beautify com, communicate, and resonate with the onlooker. Stinkfish's work is often characterized by found photographs and images from the streets, which he recontextualizes by adding his distinctive stenciled patterns. "Wild Vanity" is no exception. The faces in the artwork appear to be lifted from an existing narrative, a snippet of a larger story that the viewer is invited to ponder. The overlay of intricate patterns across the faces transforms the subjects, commenting on the masks we wear and the identities we portray. Cultural Implications of "Wild Vanity" in Contemporary Art "Wild Vanity" stands at the crossroads of multiple cultural narratives. It is not just a visual feast but an artistic statement that delves into the essence of identity and perception in the modern world. Through the five-color silkscreen print, Stinkfish challenges the traditional boundaries between high art and street art, merging them into a singular expression that is both accessible and complex. The work's title, "Wild Vanity," hints at a critique of self-obsession and the constructed images prevalent in society. Using a fashion magazine cover as the foundation for this piece, Stinkfish engages in a dialogue with the viewer about the nature of beauty and the role of media in shaping our understanding of it. The wildness comes from the disruptive patterns that cascade over the faces, suggesting a tension between the natural human essence and the artificial veneer of societal standards. Collectibility and Influence of Stinkfish's Silkscreen Prints As a collectible, "Wild Vanity" represents an essential piece of Stinkfish's portfolio, encapsulating his distinct style and thematic concerns. The limited edition nature of the print makes it a coveted item for collectors and enthusiasts of street pop art. Stinkfish's influence extends beyond the street corners of Bogota, Colombia—his work is recognized globally, and pieces like "Wild Vanity" are pivotal in understanding the trajectory of his artistic journey. The print is also a testament to the evolution of street art into a recognized and celebrated form of fine art. By bringing the techniques and aesthetics of street art into the controlled environment of the studio and then onto fine art paper, Stinkfish bridges worlds, offering a piece that is as much at home in a gallery as on the streets. In the context of pop, street art, and graffiti artwork, "Wild Vanity" is a vibrant example of how these genres can intersect to create works that reflect contemporary culture and are timeless in their appeal. Stinkfish's ability to communicate through layers of color and pattern ensures that "Wild Vanity" will remain a significant and thought-provoking piece within the ever-evolving narrative of art.

Take notice of the colors rather than the image, even though that might be difficult to do sometimes. The colors represent what's going on in my life at any given moment." - Bobby Hill

Winter breeAnne We the Future Hand-Pulled on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2018 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 450 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print Winter BreeAnne represents a new generation of leadership and activism, embodied in the "We the Future" campaign, which is artfully captured in a limited edition silkscreen print by a renowned pop culture artist. Launched in 2018, this signed and numbered artwork is more than a visual piece; it’s a statement of empowerment and a beckoning for social participation. The artwork, pulled by hand on Cream Speckletone fine art paper, stands at an impressive 18x24 inches, making its presence as bold and thought-provoking as the message it carries. This limited edition print, with only 450 copies in existence, brings together the aesthetics of street art and the cultural influence of pop art. The artist's decision to use the hand-pulling technique, a time-honored method in screen printing, adds a layer of authenticity and craftsmanship to the work, honoring traditional practices in a modern context. The image of Winter BreeAnne is a vivid iconography, symbolizing the tireless efforts of youth activists who are not just speaking out but are leading the charge toward real change. As an element of pop and street art, this piece carries the undercurrents of rebellion and transformation. The term "Future Voter" emblazoned across BreeAnne's shirt is not merely a designation but a declaration of the coming influence of a generation ready to assert its power through civic engagement. The call to “Power to the Polls” amplifies this, pushing the narrative that every individual has a role in shaping the future. This sentiment is at the heart of pop art’s core ethos – a reflection of contemporary issues and a mirror to society’s values, hopes, and dreams. The artist behind this print is celebrated for their ability to capture the zeitgeist in their work, combining elements of propaganda, portraiture, and political messaging to create art that transcends the canvas and becomes a part of the public discourse. The use of vibrant colors, bold lines, and striking poses echoes the energy of street art murals, which often serve as beacons of community expression and are a testament to the power of public art to inspire and mobilize. The "We the Future" print is more than a decorative item; it's a cultural artifact that captures the essence of a movement, solidifying the voice of youth and the importance of participation in the democratic process. It’s an inspiration to the onlooker, serving as a reminder of the influence of the younger generation and the continuous, pulsating drumbeat of progress they bring to the political landscape.

WK / Shepard Portrait Silkscreen Print by WK Interact x Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled on French Speckletone True White Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 450 Artwork Size 36x24 Silkscreen Print WK Interact and Shepard Fairey are luminaries in pop art, street art, and graffiti art, showcasing creativity that blurs the line between counterculture and mainstream artistry. Each has carved its distinct identity in the ever-evolving art scene, bridging the gap between street aesthetics and fine art. Their contribution to this art form has not only inspired a generation of artists but also brought street art into the global limelight. WK Interact, a French artist based in New York City, is renowned for his kinetic, motion-based black-and-white street art. His works often depict figures in motion, creating a sense of velocity and dynamism that is emblematic of urban life. The artistry goes beyond traditional graffiti as his murals often interact with the architecture and environment they are placed in, reflecting a deep connection with the urban landscape. A key concept behind his work is to capture the energy and pace of city life, turning mundane structures into a living art spectacle. "I’ve known WK for almost 25 years, but I admired his art for many years before that. When I started putting art up on the streets of NY in the early 90s, WK had some of the best murals around lower Manhattan. We’ve collaborated a few times over the years, and when I was in NYC in December, WK shot some portraits of me as part of an artist homage series. Usually, I’m uncomfortable being the subject of art pieces, but I love what he did with the final art because it merges our aesthetics very harmoniously… and my face is less of the focus!" -Shepard Fairey "In 2009, I was invited by Shepard Fairey to have a solo show at the Subliminal Project Gallery in Los Angeles. 14 years later, I have the pleasure of visiting Subliminal Projects once again… to sign a new limited edition print, on which we collaborated. I met Shepard long ago… I’ve joined him on many adventures around the world, from Berlin, Japan, NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, to Paris. Early on, I realized as we were hitting the streets with paste ups, that we shared something in common and that was the constant desire to work. Shepard was the first person to contact me and extend an invitation to participate in the game. I admire how sharp he is… he forgets nothing. I’m grateful that he let me paint his portrait, but I’m mostly honored to call him my friend." –WK Interact

Bask Wolf Like Me Original Acrylic Painting on Wood by Bask

Wolf Like Me Original Painting Acrylic on Mixed-Media Reclaimed Wood Panel by Bask Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. “The esthetic of my work is similar to the Detroit landscape. The re-purposed nature of my art plays off of panels, wood, signs, that once were proudly displayed. But over the years they stopped serving their intended purpose and thrown out. The inspiration behind the work I made for this show was Detroit's strengths, struggles, and landscape. I took the opportunity to move to Detroit fourteen years ago, but for a number of reasons beyond my control, my stay lasted only 4 years. However, that was long enough for the city to have a profound impact on my work as well as my consciousness towards social and political issues. And even though I haven't called Detroit home in 9 years, the impression it stamped on me is something I hope I never lose. And it was this appreciation for the influence that DETROIT has had on me, that inspired the work I made for the show.” -Bask

There are lots of sacred symbols that are in this piece that was created with the intention to protect the space that it is hung in. During the time I was experiencing some internal shifts that inspired me to create a piece that served as a protective guardian and the Wolf Archetype strongly embodied that quality. The Wolf Archetype to me resembles a symbol of intelligence as well as a fierce guardian. My work is about creating a reflective mirror that allows the viewer to see within themselves and evoke positive internal shifts. I’ve been exploring combining archetypal symbols with Mandalas that serve as symbols of strength to protect the space they are in as well as remind the viewer of their own internal strength and power." - Chris Saunders
