Sheer Art Attack Ink Drawing on Fine Art Paper by Derek Hess graffiti street artist modern original art. 2014 Signed Framed Original Ink Drawing Artwork Size 15x17 "My first batch was done in 2010/2011 and showed during the World's Largest Crappie Festival in Water Valley Mississippi, that was awesome. All are were made using pen, ink, and acrylic. My father was a B-26 pilot and my dad helped instill the interest in the subject. Two of the pieces feature a rock bass morphed with a B-26. These are completely different from what I normally do, whatever 'normal' means. Anyway, these were just a lot of fun to do. Whereas some of the intense pieces that I do I feel I have to do, as to purge it from my system, which works half the time (I tend to carry that stuff with me). I wanted to do these for fun and are a great distraction." - Derek Hess

  • The Prisoner Percocet Art Toy by Luke Chueh

Luke Chueh The Prisoner Percocet Art Toy by Luke Chueh

The Prisoner- Percocet Drug Limited Edition Vinyl Art Toy Collectible Artwork by Street Graffiti Artist Luke Chueh. 2017 Limited Edition Artwork of 500 Displayed With Cotton, Bag, and Tube. Based on Luke Chueh's original painting, The Prisoner ponders captivity in its many forms—physical, mental, or pharmaceutical. Post-traumatic stress disorder is a mental health problem that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event like combat, natural disaster, car accident, or sexual assault. And the dependency on prescription medications such as Percocet has led to widespread addiction problems. The Poignant Message Behind 'The Prisoner - Percocet' Art Toy by Luke Chueh 'The Prisoner - Percocet' is a limited edition vinyl art toy that delivers a powerful commentary on the grips of addiction and the confines of mental health struggles. Created by the acclaimed street graffiti artist Luke Chueh, this 2017 artwork, limited to a series of 500, delves into the concept of captivity through physical bars and the often invisible chains of pharmaceutical dependence. This piece is based on Chueh's original painting, "The Prisoner," which portrays the sad reality that many individuals face post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and prescription medication addiction, particularly to potent drugs like Percocet. Chueh's art toy is thought-provoking and captures the essence of street pop art and graffiti artwork. It reflects the raw, unfiltered nature of the street art scene while addressing complex societal issues. The figure is meticulously displayed with cotton, a bag, and a tube, encapsulating the presentation of prescription medication and subtly pointing to the clinical nature of drug distribution. The Artistic Approach to a Modern-Day Plight Luke Chueh's approach to art is often characterized by the use of stark, compelling images that evoke a sense of empathy and contemplation. With 'The Prisoner - Percocet,' Chueh confronts the viewer with the reality of pharmaceutical captivity—a condition where medication meant for healing becomes a source of prolonged suffering. The vinyl figure, with its downcast eyes and clasped hands, becomes a symbol of the countless individuals who find themselves battling the dual demons of PTSD and addiction. The art toy is more than a collectible; it is a visual discourse on the pervasive issue of substance abuse linked to prescription drugs. Chueh's work is a bridge between art and advocacy, offering insight into the psychological and emotional turmoil that accompanies dependency. This piece, in particular, embodies the critical narrative that street pop art and graffiti artwork often undertake, highlighting urgent, real-world problems through artistic expression. 'The Prisoner - Percocet' in the Context of Collectible Art Collectors of 'The Prisoner - Percocet' hold a piece of art that is poignant, evocative, and starkly relevant. Including a metal card of authenticity with each figure ensures the artwork's legitimacy and special status within the limited series. Luke Chueh's signature style—simple yet profound—is on full display, making the piece a sought-after artifact within contemporary street pop art. Owning this piece is to acknowledge and appreciate the depth and potential for street art to transcend traditional canvases and become a medium for social commentary. The collectible stands as a testament to the power of art to spark conversation and to the artist's role as a commentator on the human condition. It is an invitation to reflect on the complex relationship society has with medication and the often-hidden struggles that accompany its use. In the broader context of street pop art, 'The Prisoner - Percocet' art toy by Luke Chueh stands out for its ability to communicate a profound message succinctly and symbolically. It is a powerful intersection of artistry and advocacy, encapsulating the struggle that defines the lives of many individuals in a single, silent figurine. For the discerning collector, it is not just a vinyl figure but a conversation starter, an emblem of awareness, and a striking piece of graffiti that holds significant cultural and artistic weight.

Prowess Artwork Giclee Limited Edition Print on 300gsm Fine Art Paper by Pop Culture Graffiti Artist Casey Weldon. "Each of the pieces was created using acrylic on a 16x16” piece of birch. Back in 2008, I did about 9 tiny headdress pieces, each featuring strange objects in an ornamental and ceremonial fashion. I liked the idea of using the craft of the headdress to display the objects and ideas we worship in modern society. After abandoning the idea for many years I came back to it last year with the intention of developing the original though in a more intricate, yet ambiguous fashion. Pun intended. These pieces were made in November of 2012 for the Prisma Collective’s group show “Second Sight” at Trifecta Gallery in Las Vegas." - Casey Weldon

It was also featured in my recent solo show in Italy, showcasing some of my recent dissections. The concept is based on the graphical graffiti throw-up I have been doing since around 2005, but I had to do a dissection of this one! The image is now Rabbit Eye Movement's main (REM) logo. REM started as a street art concept based in Vienna, but I always saw the Rabbit Eye Movement as an homage to all the "rabbits" out there being" active in the urban art movement; it doesn't matter what mission they are following. The movement grew, and REM expanded to establish the REM ARTSPACE. This place addresses national and international artists from genres like graffiti, urban illustration, street art, lowbrow, and pop culture imagery. Created as an artist proof (AP) in 2013, this 16x16 artwork weaves complex narratives of biology, mythology, and urban culture into a single, striking, and thought-provoking canvas. Nychos: Anatomical Explorations and Urban Narratives Nychos, renowned for his unique approach to street art, employs a distinctive technique of anatomical dissection in his work. "Dissection of The White Rabbit" is a prime example, presenting a rabbit split down the middle to reveal the intricate workings of its internal organs. This piece was conceived in January of that year, just as Nychos was preparing to attend Pow Wow in Hawaii, and subsequently became a centerpiece in his solo show in Italy. Nychos's work delves into the layers that compose living beings, reflecting a deep fascination with what lies beneath the surface. By marrying the graphic energy of graffiti throw-ups with the precise detail of dissections, Nychos has forged a new path in street pop art. The artwork also functions as the emblem for the Rabbit Eye Movement (REM), a concept originating from the streets of Vienna. Nychos envisions REM as a tribute to the 'rabbits' of the urban art movement, symbolizing the active participants in this burgeoning cultural scene, regardless of their mission. REM has since evolved to establish the REM ARTSPACE. This creative hub celebrates a variety of genres, from graffiti and urban illustration to street art, lowbrow, and pop culture imagery. This space is dedicated to fostering individual and collective creativity and serves as a bastion for the free exchange of ideas, ensuring the progression and inspiration of artists worldwide. The Impact and Legacy of Nychos' Work The influence of "Dissection of The White Rabbit" extends beyond its visual impact. It embodies Nychos' profound effect on the street art scene, illustrating the transformative power of visual arts in urban spaces. The work is a representation of the artist's technical prowess and a symbol of his commitment to challenging the traditional boundaries of street pop art and graffiti artwork. As the primary logo for the Rabbit Eye Movement, it has become synonymous with a global network of artists dedicated to advancing the cause of street art. Through his work and the establishment of REM ARTSPACE, Nychos has played a pivotal role in shaping the dialogue around street art and its place in the broader spectrum of contemporary art. In essence, "Dissection of The White Rabbit" is more than just a piece of art; it is a cornerstone of Nychos' artistic and cultural contribution. This piece encapsulates the dynamism and versatility of street pop art and graffiti artwork, demonstrating how such works can simultaneously educate, inspire, and provoke thought. As Nychos' fame continues to rise and his works continue to captivate audiences around the globe, the legacy of his white rabbit, dissected and displayed, stands as an enduring symbol of the power and potential of street art.

It took some isolation to really stand behind my own beliefs without becoming a political artist. Thinking of iconographic shapes, I thought the cigarette pack is an easily identifiable shape which lead me to the idea of "Guilty Pleasures" and the Shark Toof Cigarette Pack. "This piece came to me one day when I saw an image of a man falling from the sky with a suit on--a kind of eery, yet poignant statement regarding the current state of things in the world. At that point I worked to complete a narrative and what I was seeing in my mind. Creating art is like writing a book in a sense and if there's an audience out there that enjoys reading it, that's inspiring to me. I'd like people to see what I'm trying to convey and let those ideas come together as they contemplate the work. But all-in-

I always tend to work in a series of color combos, mostly in 3's. This series being one of them. The idea starts the way most of my pieces come about. Laying down the background and staring for a while. Then figuring out where I want the flow of the piece to go. With this piece it's kind of a "X" pattern. Two Girls And Three Tigers illuminates the contemplation of nature, culture, predator vs. prey, and recent travels to Thailand and the middle east. The idea is a culmination of seduction, animal spirit, philosophy of culture and its roll in the idea of predator vs. prey. 1 square inch could take 1 - 5 days depending on how it's working with the painting as a whole. My process can be masochistic. It's a chess match. My roots as an illustrator is that everything is planned out. I'm going against the grain in more of a fine art direction by allowing the painting to guide me, to ask me questions. There are very small to very large details to this piece from color, to shape, and form. These details were in large part not preplanned and a manifestation of content. " - Shark Toof

Morsel Limited Edition Archival Pigment Hand-Embellished Prints on 330gsm Fine Art Paper by Laura Bifano Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "The painting was originally done for a show at Thinkspace Gallery called “Picks of the Harvest.” I had played around with a few ideas initially, but nothing seemed to take shape until I took a road trip up Vancouver Island to visit family. The scenery was stunning emerald green farmland dotted with grazing sheep, so I used that as a jumping-off point for the painting. I’ve always loved English Pastoral paintings and knew right away that I wanted to do something in a similar vein. I decided to introduce a predatory element to this otherwise idyllic scene, and a family of Wolves seemed appropriate. At the time I was also watching a steady stream of BBC nature documentaries and it got me in a contemplative mood, thinking about the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. I think that introducing the element of these artificial pixel sheep adds a touch of whimsy and levity to an otherwise morbid image." - Laura Bifano

There are lots of sacred symbols that are in this piece that was created with the intention to protect the space that it is hung in. During the time I was experiencing some internal shifts that inspired me to create a piece that served as a protective guardian and the Wolf Archetype strongly embodied that quality. The Wolf Archetype to me resembles a symbol of intelligence as well as a fierce guardian. My work is about creating a reflective mirror that allows the viewer to see within themselves and evoke positive internal shifts. I’ve been exploring combining archetypal symbols with Mandalas that serve as symbols of strength to protect the space they are in as well as remind the viewer of their own internal strength and power." - Chris Saunders

I imagine this series may last for several decades as I explore what it means to be a dad and watch my son grow and evolve and create his own world. Interestingly, the previous piece and origin of this series were with a previous 1XRUN release: “Overdrive.” Tempest” has several layers of meaning that correspond with various states of the mind and the aforementioned experience of being a father. To dispel the immediate question, no, it does not refer to a troublesome, tempestuous child, but more to the overwhelming complexity that comes from raising a new life and what that means for your own existence, not to mention the whirlwind of life that he must be experiencing concurrently. I leave the viewer to extrapolate other personal meanings from that jumping-off point." - N.C. Winters

"This piece was born from the inspiration of a personal struggle I was experiencing with overcoming certain obstacles in my life surrounding addiction. Not just chemical addiction, but addictive thoughts and behaviors that didn't serve my highest good. The lion archetype visited me in my dreams during this time of struggle with addiction. I dreamt I was a lion running with full force through a dense jungle. I had a thick rope in my mouth and as I ran through this jungle people were fighting to grab the free sides of the rope to try and slow me down from running so fast. It was getting snagged and I felt extreme pain in my body. The pain grew to the point my body caught on fire, I could feel my flesh searing. I remember fighting through it and eventually, the pain went away and I kept running forward. Pretty Intense! So I combined my vision of the lion with the mandala to mirror a frequency of courage, strength, and power to its the viewer and the space that it is hung in." - Chris Saunders

I was experiencing a massive shift in my life at the time. I was feeling a pull away from my career as a commercial artist to focus on my own art and I had a lot of fear coming up for me. Usually, when I experience these shifts I do my best to get out of my head and trust my inner guidance. That inner guidance tends to mold those experiences into the form of different animal forms that guide me through that transition. To me, the tiger represents primal instinct and being able to let go and trust yourself and fully trust your intuition. Animal Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork

Animal Motifs in Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork

Animal imagery within street pop and graffiti artwork is a compelling conduit for many expressions, from activism to aesthetics. These forms, born from the vibrant heart of urban environments, have been leveraged by artists to shed light on critical issues and infuse the concrete landscape with life and color. Graffiti, with its roots stretching back to ancient civilizations, has evolved into a modern canvas that speaks to contemporary issues, including those affecting the animal kingdom. In the ever-expanding world of street art, the animal has become a symbol of activism and advocacy. Merging their passion for art with a mission for animal welfare, artists use graffiti and pop art as platforms to raise awareness about animal rights and conservation. Through the stark depiction of animals in distress or the celebration of their beauty, these artworks aim to provoke thought and stir the public's conscience. For instance, Banksy's "Sirens of the Lambs" delivers a powerful statement on the cruelty of the meat industry, while Andy Warhol's "Endangered Species" series spotlights the urgency of wildlife conservation.

Capturing Animal Essence in Urban Spaces

Not all animal-themed street art is steeped in somber tones; many pieces capture animals' whimsy and intrinsic beauty. Through the playful depiction of local fauna or monumental murals celebrating the majesty of wildlife, these pieces offer an oasis of natural wonder in the urban jungle. The animal form becomes a bridge connecting the viewer to the more humorous and delightful aspects of nature, as seen in the giant pigeon murals or the prominent depictions of household pets that bring charm and character to the streets. Animals are a rich source of inspiration in street pop art and graffiti artwork. They are not merely subjects but also messengers—carrying themes of environmental consciousness, reminding us of the planet's fragile beauty, and sometimes just providing a moment of fun and joy amidst the hustle of city life. These artworks demonstrate the enduring power of animals in art, whether as symbols of a cause or as embodiments of natural splendor. The versatility in the portrayal of animals within these artistic domains underscores a universal reverence for life in all its forms, making it a poignant and enduring theme in street art across the globe.
