Small Handeling Crease to Upper Left Facing Margin. Intricacy and Allure of Anville's Screen Printing Justin Anville's "Tyto Alba" is a striking example of the fusion between Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork and fine art printmaking. The 9-color hand-pulled limited edition silkscreen print is a testament to Anville's skill in utilizing traditional screen printing techniques to create artwork that resonates with the energy and rawness of street art, while also commanding the finesse and sophistication of gallery-quality pieces. Crafted in 2011, each print in this limited edition is signed by the artist, marked as an artist's proof (AP), and measures 18x24 inches, capturing the viewer's attention with its size and detail. The artwork's complex layering of colors highlights Anville's meticulous attention to detail and his commitment to the craft of screen printing. The small handling crease to the upper left-facing margin bears witness to the human element involved in the process of creating each individual piece, a subtle reminder of the artist's hand at work. The central figure of the owl, crowned and majestic, stands as a powerful symbol within the composition. The owl is often associated with wisdom and mystery in various cultures, and Anville's portrayal adds a regal dimension to these interpretations. This iconography is cleverly juxtaposed with the urban elements that frame the bird, creating a dialogue between nature and the constructed environment, a common theme in Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork. Contribution to the Evolution of Street Art Anville's "Tyto Alba" not only contributes to the evolution of street art but also stands as a bridge between the often separate worlds of street and fine art. His work elevates the graffiti art style into a fine art realm without losing the grassroots feel that defines street art. The rarity of the piece adds to its allure, knowing that it belongs to a finite set of prints, each one slightly different from the last, each one a unique piece of Anville's vision. The use of nine colors in the screen printing process is significant, allowing for a depth and vibrancy that can be challenging to achieve with fewer layers. Anville's choice of fine art paper as a substrate reflects a conscious decision to present street art not merely as ephemeral but as something to be preserved and cherished. The result is a rich texture and color dynamism that brings the artwork to life. Artistic Impact of "Tyto Alba" "Tyto Alba" serves as an emblem of Anville's artistic prowess and his contribution to the broader narrative of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork. The piece's existence within limited edition collections across the globe speaks to its impact on both the art community and pop culture. Collectors of Anville's work appreciate not just the visual appeal of his art but also the commentary it provides on the blending of urban street culture with the more traditional aspects of art-making. Justin Anville's "Tyto Alba" is a profound representation of the modern-day synergy between street art and fine art printing. It stands as a vibrant emblem of the potential for Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork to transcend boundaries and enter into a dialogue with audiences across diverse spectrums of the art world.

  • Modular Silkscreen Print by Add Fuel x Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY Modular Silkscreen Print by Add Fuel x Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Modular Silkscreen Print by Add Fuel x Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2022 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 500 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print "Diogo Machado aka ADD FUEL’s art functions on several levels literally and metaphorically. His pieces master the aesthetics of traditional Portuguese tile work while adding his own playful character illustrations subversively woven into the designs. These two seemingly disparate styles are so elegantly blended together that discovering the oddity within the harmony is both bizarre and joyful. The actual and faux rips ADD FUEL incorporates into his art are more than just a nod to paper, the common material of modern street art, they’re also a provocative bit of visual dissonance since tiles don’t rip. Despite the incongruity of tiles and rips, ADD FUEL’s visually seductive compositions evoke a sense of time passed and a story behind each layer." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY In the sphere of contemporary art, the collaborative silkscreen print by Add Fuel and Shepard Fairey represents a unique fusion of traditional motifs and modern sensibilities. This limited edition piece, restricted to a run of 500 and signed and numbered by the artists, is a striking example of pop culture artistry on a cream speckletone fine art paper, measuring 18x24 inches. Created in 2022, this 5-color hand-pulled print showcases the distinct styles of both artists, marrying the classical aesthetic of Portuguese tile design with the urban edge of graffiti art. Diogo Machado, who operates under the alias Add Fuel, reimagines the conventional ceramic tile as a canvas for street art. His contribution to this print is distinguished by the intricate simulation of traditional tile patterns, interspersed with his characteristic playful characters that add a layer of whimsy and critique. The interplay of these detailed designs with Shepard Fairey's iconic Obey imagery lends the work a complex, layered narrative. Fairey, a luminary in the street art movement, brings his bold graphics and propagandistic flair to the collaboration, creating a visual dialogue between past and present artistic expressions. The print's allure is amplified by the intentional 'rips' trailing its surface. This clever trompe l'oeil effect disrupts the tilework's permanence with the ephemeral nature of paper, a staple medium for street artists. These artificial tears challenge viewers' perceptions, hinting at the transient nature of art and commentary on the fragility of cultural heritage. As Fairey noted, the juxtaposition of durable ceramic and tearable paper forms a compelling contrast that is visually arresting and conceptually profound. This artwork transcends the boundaries of its medium, inviting contemplation on the evolution of artistic expression and the enduring impact of cultural symbols. In this union of Add Fuel's meticulous craftsmanship and Shepard Fairey's aggressive style, a new narrative emerges, one that celebrates both individual creativity and the collective memory encapsulated within traditional art forms.

That led to the idea of life as a dream and the questioning of true reality. After that I started relating it to both the stories of Christ and the Buddha, but since my world is a sort of fairytale western horror it took form the way it did. Once I had the idea and image in mind I got some friends together, rented a car and drove out around Santa Rose, CA. Originally I was going to take a picture near a huge tree somewhere but lucked out and found this great abandoned house. It proved to be the best spot we could have found." - C3

  • The Reflection Black Silkscreen Print by Cleon Peterson

Cleon Peterson The Reflection Black Silkscreen Print by Cleon Peterson

The Reflection Black Silkscreen Print by Cleon Peterson on Hand Deckled 290gsm Coventry Rag Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork. 2021 Signed & Numbered Cleon Peterson Limited Edition of 125 Artwork Size 39X16 Silkscreen Print. The Limited Edition Silkscreen Art of Cleon Peterson Cleon Peterson's artistry is a powerful voice in the contemporary discourse of street pop and graffiti artwork. His 2021 creation, "The Reflection," is a testament to his distinct style and thematic concerns. This piece is a limited edition silkscreen print, with only 125 pieces available, each bearing Peterson's signature, which adds to the exclusivity and collectible nature of the artwork. These prints are emblazoned on hand-deckled 290gsm Coventry Rag fine art paper, known for its durability and premium quality, ensuring that each piece retains its depth and texture, which is significant in street art representation. The Aesthetic of "The Reflection" Cleon Peterson's "The Reflection" is visually striking, echoing the high-contrast aesthetic typical of street art. Black silkscreen ink gives the artwork a bold, graphic quality reminiscent of the dynamic visuals found in urban graffiti. At 39x16 inches, the print's substantial size allows viewers to immerse themselves in its stark world. Peterson employs a monochromatic palette, which adds visual impact and underscores the thematic dualities often explored in his work—order and chaos, violence and harmony, and power and subjugation. Peterson's composition places a solitary figure against an expanse of tumultuous landscape, a mountainous terrain that seems both majestic and oppressive. The use of negative space and the sharp delineation between the figure and its environment draws attention to the isolation of the individual within the space, a theme often explored in both street and pop art as they grapple with the individual's place in society. Context and Influence The artistic milieu from which "The Reflection" emerges is rich with historical and cultural significance. Cleon Peterson, an American artist, is renowned for his assertive approach that borrows street and pop art elements. His works do not shy away from the complexities of societal structures, often depicting scenes of conflict and strife that force the viewer to confront the darker aspects of human nature and societal interactions. Peterson's art does not exist in a vacuum but is part of a larger conversation about the nature of modern life and the individual's experience within it. By drawing on the motifs and methods of street art, which is historically linked to subversive and anti-establishment sentiments, Peterson's art challenges viewers to reconsider their perceptions of authority, community, and the self. The graffiti art form's traditional use of public spaces as a canvas is reflected in Peterson's choice to use silkscreen printing, a technique synonymous with the mass production and dissemination of images, thus merging the realms of high art and public discourse. Collectibility and Cultural Impact "The Reflection" is a visual feat and a collector's highlight. Its limited run and Peterson's autograph make each print a coveted piece for enthusiasts of street pop and graffiti artwork. The hand-deckled edges of the Coventry Rag paper offer a tangible connection to street art's hands-on, often rebellious nature, even within the confines of a private collection. The paper's texture and weight add a tactile dimension that elevates the print beyond a mere reproduction; it becomes an artifact, a piece of Peterson's world that one can own and display. In the landscape of contemporary art, Peterson's voice rings clear. His work, "The Reflection," is a powerful commentary on the human condition, society's ills, and the individual's role within the larger narrative. This print, nestled comfortably in the collection of 125, is more than just a visual statement—it is a piece of cultural conversation, encapsulating the ethos of street art's raw, unapologetic exploration of life's gritty realities. Cleon Peterson's art continues to resonate with those captivated by the intersection of street sensibility and pleasing art aesthetics. "The Reflection," with its stark beauty and complex commentary, is a significant piece within his work, offering a somber meditation on the nature of self and society. It bridges the artist's internal reflections and the external world's perceptions, inviting viewers to ponder their place within the ever-shifting tapestry of contemporary life.

There are lots of sacred symbols that are in this piece that was created with the intention to protect the space that it is hung in. During the time I was experiencing some internal shifts that inspired me to create a piece that served as a protective guardian and the Wolf Archetype strongly embodied that quality. The Wolf Archetype to me resembles a symbol of intelligence as well as a fierce guardian. My work is about creating a reflective mirror that allows the viewer to see within themselves and evoke positive internal shifts. I’ve been exploring combining archetypal symbols with Mandalas that serve as symbols of strength to protect the space they are in as well as remind the viewer of their own internal strength and power." - Chris Saunders

Promised Land Night Silkscreen Print by Cleon Peterson Hand-Pulled 2-Color Screen Print on 290gsm Coventry Rag Paper Hand DeckledLimited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 75 Artwork Size 24x24 Renowned for his striking and confrontational style, Cleon Peterson is an artist whose work brings to life the undercurrents of societal strife and conflict. Known for his vivid depictions of brutal scenes that reflect a world in chaos, Peterson is widely recognized as a significant figure in the realms of pop art, street art, and graffiti art. His work often provides a haunting mirror to societal tensions, rendering them visually captivating through the stark contrast between light and dark, order and chaos, violence and peace. One piece that exemplifies this distinctive style is his "Promised Land Night" silkscreen print. True to Peterson's style, the work explores the darker facets of human nature in a dichromatic palette - typically a stark contrast of black and white or, in this case, dark navy blue and white. It showcases figures engaged in what appears to be a chaotic, violent struggle, as a symbol of the perpetual conflict and power dynamics within societies. Wetland Powers Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 550 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print "This Wetland Powers print examines the repercussions of a Supreme Court largely in the pockets of big oil. The government is supposed to create the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Still, the conservative justices in the current Supreme Court have put the agendas of big oil and wealthy property owners ahead of safe and clean water for the citizenry. The concept of "common assets"… no one owns resources like air and water and needs to be protected for the benefit of all, seems lost on many people in business and government. It is up to us as voters to elect representatives who put the needs of the citizens first. The Supreme Court makeup is always important to consider when voting for our president since the sitting president selects appointees for Supreme Court justices." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY Shepard Fairey's "Wetland Powers": A Statement in Street Pop Art In street pop art, Shepard Fairey stands as a figure of monumental influence; his work is often intertwined with solid socio-political messages. The "Wetland Powers" silkscreen print by Shepard Fairey, also known as OBEY, is a striking example of his commitment to merging art with activism. Fairey's work is known for its layered visual language; every element serves a symbolic purpose, and "Wetland Powers" is no exception. Environmental Advocacy through Art In "Wetland Powers," Fairey addresses the contentious issue of land rights versus environmental protection, particularly highlighting the Supreme Court's role in shaping the fate of U.S. wetlands. The print serves as a commentary on the court's decisions that Fairey perceives as favoring corporate interests over public environmental health. Through this piece, Fairey expresses his belief in safeguarding common assets — air, water, and land — for the collective good. The Cultural Resonance of Fairey's Work Shepard Fairey's art has always resonated with a broad audience, and his Obey campaign has become a cultural phenomenon. Black Graffiti Street Pop Artwork

Depth and Dimension: The Role of Black in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Black as a Powerful Medium in Urban Art

Black, a color that can be both the absence of light and the amalgamation of all pigments in the art world, holds a fundamental place in the street pop art and graffiti genres. Its multifaceted and profound use provides depth, contrast, and definition. In the hands of artists, black is not merely a color; it's an essential component of visual storytelling that can convey various themes and emotions, from the stark and severe to the rich and sophisticated.

Techniques Embracing the Intensity of Black

The techniques used to apply black in urban artwork are as diverse as the artists themselves. It can be found in the sharp lines of stencils that cut through the noise of colorful backdrops or in the swirling shadows that give murals a sense of life and movement. Black often outlines figures and shapes, making them pop from their surroundings and granting them an arresting visual clarity. In addition, the texture of black paint or ink can range from a matte finish that absorbs light, creating a void-like effect, to a glossy sheen that suggests a sleek, modern aesthetic. Culturally, black carries significant weight. It can symbolize rebellion or conformity, chaos or order, nothingness, or the complex integration of all that is colorful. In street pop art and graffiti, black is commonly associated with the underground, the edgy, and the avant-garde. It is the color of the night, the urban, and the unknown. Black's ability to make other colors stand out while still commanding its presence makes it a powerful tool for artists seeking to challenge norms and make bold statements.

Compositional Balance and Boldness with Black

In composition, black's role is unparalleled. It offers an anchor within the artwork, a point of return for the eye amidst the visual excitement of brighter hues. Using black can balance a piece, adding a sense of stability and grounding. However, it also has the power to dominate, to turn a multicolored mural into a monochromatic statement, or to bring a sense of solemnity and gravity to street pop art and graffiti pieces. The future of black in street pop art and graffiti artwork looks as solid as the color itself. As urban art continues to evolve, the applications and symbolism of black are likely to deepen and diversify. New materials and methods will expand the range of textures and finishes available to artists, from the blackest blacks that absorb nearly all light to reflective surfaces that play with the urban environment's illumination. In street pop art and graffiti, black is a foundational element, a color as essential as the spaces it adorns. It is a color that speaks in whispers and shouts, a color that refuses to be silent, and a color that, paradoxically, brings the vibrant world of urban art to life. Whether used with precision or with wild abandon, black remains a testament to the enduring power and versatility of color in the hands of those who seek to transform the cityscape into a canvas of personal expression and public engagement.
