Edward Colver - Sprayed Paint Art Collection
Edward Colver is an American photographer best known for his work documenting the punk and hardcore music scenes in Los Angeles in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was born on July 15, 1951, in Van Nuys, California and grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Colver began his career as a photographer in the late 1970s, when he was in his mid-twenties. He was inspired by the burgeoning punk rock scene in Los Angeles, and he quickly became a fixture at local clubs like the Whisky a Go Go, the Roxy, and the Starwood. He began taking photographs of the bands and the fans, documenting the energy and chaos of the scene. Colver's photographs are known for their raw, gritty style and their ability to capture the intensity of the punk and hardcore music scenes. His subjects were often captured mid-performance, drenched in sweat and adrenaline, with their faces contorted in rage or ecstasy. Colver's photographs became iconic images of the punk and hardcore movements, and they were featured in countless magazines, album covers, and posters. Colver's work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, and the Fotografiska Museum in Stockholm, Sweden. His photographs have also been published in several books, including "Blight at the End of the Funnel: The Essential Edward Colver" and "Edward Colver: 1980." In addition to his work as a photographer, Colver has also been involved in the music industry. He has designed album covers for bands like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, and Minor Threat, and he has worked as a music video director for artists like Iggy Pop and The Cramps.
