Open Minds Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY
Purchase Open Minds 4-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckletone Art Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist. Signed & Numbered Screen Print OPEN MINDS 36 inches by 24 inches Edition of 675 February 3, 2022 Handling Creases to Bottom Left & Right Margins. This “Open Minds” print references the language used by the powerful fuel industry lobby to soften political and public resistance to fracking. Fracking is a form of gas extraction which beyond the carbon impact of the gas itself, contaminates groundwater, pollutes the air, and creates strains on water resources because of the high volume of water required for the fracking process. Open-mindedness about any of those detrimental impacts of fracking and other fossil fuel extraction is absurd if one cares about the environment, air and water quality, and global warming. Powerful corporations and their lobbyists spend exorbitant sums to distract from and discredit the science-based conversation about the environment. I’m all for open minds and open eyes when it comes to putting science and the welfare of the planet before corporate profits. A portion of the proceeds from this print will benefit Greenpeace to support its work to enhance environmental protections and combat climate change. – Shepard

The fossil fuel industries have tremendous power economically, but we now know that not only are fossil fuel sources finite but that using them is terrible for climate change and, therefore, the eco-systems that sustain life on our planet. Unfortunately, due to the political power of these industries and public apathy about climate change, the government subsidizes the fossil fuel industries for billions even as they damage the environment. The entire body of work for that show used these shades of blue/turquoise as a connection to the air and water that is essential to sustaining life on planet Earth. This piece is more specifically about the idea that we need to see what is right in front of us, that we are dependent on nature and I used the blooming flower as a symbol of both beauty and growth. If we keep ruining the air and water, things won’t grow, not to mention we’ll all get sick.”

Downward Trajectory Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY
Purchase Downward Trajectory Hand-Pulled 4-Color Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper by Artist Shepard Fairey Limited Edition Pop Art Artwork. 2019 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 500 Artwork Size 24x24 “Downward Trajectory is one of the many new works featured in my 30th-anniversary show in Los Angeles, “Facing the Giant: Three Decades of Dissent and New Works,” -Shepard Fairey Shepard Fairey's work is highly political and social, not only because he is incorporating politicians and slogans in it but more importantly because the artist is primarily interested in approaching as many people as possible, exhibiting his work in the covers of the books, which we read, in the music albums, to which we listen, and on the walls of the streets, where we walk. “If I put art in a daring spot, it’s more moving to the viewer and demonstrates my conviction.”, he says. After all, Fairey, in many cases, directly expresses his views on politics and society, whenever he is given the chance. For example, in the aftermath of the “Hope” poster, he commented the following: “Obama has had a really tough time, but there have been a lot of things that he's compromised on that I never would have expected. I mean, drones and domestic spying are the last things I would have thought [he'd support]”. The political aspect of his work can, also, be seen under the spectrum of Fairey’s activism and humanitarian activity. Many of his works have been created as part of activism campaigns or were sold to support causes relevant to the Arts, animal rights, poverty, medical research, the environment, etc. The artist, however, doesn’t identify himself as an activist: “People ask me if I’m an activist, and my answer is no. I’m an artist with a point of view, but I want to do my part to supplement activist causes I believe in. I feel fortunate to connect with people who find my imagery useful and help spread it.”

Swan Song Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY
Purchase Swan Song Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled 4-Color on Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 550 Size 36x24 Silkscreen Print The Swan Song print is a depiction of the precarious state of nature's delicate balance, with numerous species declining, eco-systems teetering on the brink of collapse, and climate scientists warning that time is running out to avert environmental consequences that could render zones inhabitable for millions. While certain groups may suffer more than others, this issue is universal as we all have an impact on both the problems and solutions. Unfortunately, the conscientious habits of individuals alone are insufficient to solve the problem. Unless corporations are pressured and regulated, they will continue to prioritize profits over the planet's health. The piece contains a news clipping revealing that Exxon-Mobile has known for over 40 years, based on their own internal scientific research, that burning fossil fuels is causing global warming, yet they concealed this information and publicly denied the impact of fossil fuels on climate change. A portion of the print's proceeds will be donated to Greenpeace USA to support their efforts to combat climate change. The Speckletone paper used in the print is made from recycled materials. Thank you for your concern.

As a silkscreen print, this artwork is created using a stencil-based printing technique where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a surface. This method allows for producing multiple prints with a high level of detail and vivid colors. In the case of Fairey's work, the technique is particularly well-suited to his bold, graphic style.

To celebrate the release of JOE STRUMMER 002 and in honor of Joe’s 70th birthday, a limited edition print inspired by the Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros song, JOHNNY APPLESEED. Joe’s lyric “If you’re after getting the honey, then you don’t go killing all the bees” applies to lots of things, like mistreating factory workers, but for me the idea that bees are pollinators who are crucial to sustaining Earth’s fragile eco-systems is a powerful idea. I hope to honor Joe’s music and extend his ideas with my No Bees No Honey print. A portion of proceeds will go to the Joe Strummer Foundation." -Shepard Fairey The "No Bees No Honey" print highlights the importance of bees in our ecosystem and raises awareness about the decline in bee populations. Bees are vital for pollination, which helps plants reproduce and is essential for food production. Fairey's print seeks to emphasize the urgency of addressing these issues in order to protect bees and maintain a healthy environment. The silkscreen print features Fairey's distinctive visual style, which combines elements of graphic design, street art, and propaganda art. Green Power Factory Blue Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY
Purchase Green Power Factory Blue 3-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Cream Speckle Tone Paper by Shepard Fairey Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 350 Artwork Size 18x24 "Green Power is a concept I’ve promoted in several pieces of my art. We need to transition to renewable sources of energy for the health of the planet. The government works for the citizens, so the choice is ours. Do we support endless power for wealthy fossil fuel corporations? Or policies that promote green power and put the earth first with the planet before profits? Please read Naomi Klein’s THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING to better understand the conflict between economic interests and climate change. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this print will go to Greenpeace to fight climate change. Thanks for caring." -Shepard Fairey Shepard Fairey is an American contemporary street artist, graphic designer, activist, and founder of OBEY Clothing. He is known for his thought-provoking and socially-conscious artwork, often combining powerful imagery with provocative messages. The "Green Power Factory Blue Silkscreen Print" was created by Shepard Fairey and features his signature style and color scheme. It most likely represents themes of environmentalism, industry, and the need for sustainable energy solutions. The use of the OBEY logo in the title suggests that it may also convey an underlying message about recognizing and acting on these themes.

The news clipping included in the piece is a portion of an article revealing that ExxonMobile has known, based on their internal scientific research, for over 40 years that burning fossil fuels is warming the planet. Yet, they hid the research and publicly denied the impact of fossil fuels on climate change. It is challenging to break through the formidable layers of deterrence put in place by the powerful corporations who put profits before people and the planet, but breaking through is essential to a healthy future. AP Artist Proof 2022 Signed & AP Marked Original Run Limited Edition Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print of Elephant & Womans Face With Stylized Vintage Airline Ticket Influance. "This OBEY Fragile Cargo poster is a fusion of a few inspirations. The elephant and my wife Amanda meditating relate to the Buddhist philosophy that humans are part of nature, not above it, and must live in harmony with nature. The phrase “Rise Above” references transcendence, but is also one of my favorite Black Flag songs. The graphic elements also reference the aesthetics of travel tags and tickets which present a dichotomy… travel is great for broadening cultural perspective, but it has a heavy carbon impact. Karma asks us to consider the benefits and consequences of all of our actions. All of my prints are printed on recycled or sustainable paper. A portion of the proceeds from this print will benefit Greenpeace to support their work to enhance environmental protections and combat climate change." -Shepard Fairey Delving into the realm of pop and street art, the "Fragile Cargo AP" silkscreen print by renowned artist Shepard Fairey stands as a testament to the dynamic confluence of art, philosophy, and environmental consciousness. Hand-pulled and crafted meticulously on fine art paper, this limited edition artist proof from 2022 manifests an intricate fusion of inspiration sources. The composition, with its arresting visuals of an elephant juxtaposed with the serene face of Fairey’s wife, Amanda, draws heavily from Buddhist philosophy. The art underscores the interdependence of humanity and nature, emphasizing the belief that humans do not preside over nature but are inherently a part of it. This intricate blend of artistic expression with philosophical musings is a hallmark of Fairey’s work. The term “Rise Above,” embedded within the artwork, serves a dual purpose. While it signals transcendence and aligns with the broader philosophical underpinnings of the print, it is also an homage to one of Fairey’s favorite songs by Black Flag, a classic American punk rock band. Simultaneously, the design elements, reminiscent of travel tags and vintage airline tickets, invoke a reflection on the complexities of modern travel. The allure of travel, which offers an enriched cultural perspective, is weighed against its environmental impact, specifically the carbon footprint associated with it. Echoing this environmental consciousness, Fairey ensures that all his prints are produced on either recycled or sustainably sourced paper. Beyond this, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of "Fragile Cargo AP" is dedicated to Greenpeace, highlighting Fairey’s commitment to supporting environmental causes and combating the dire challenges of climate change. Through this artwork, Shepard Fairey weaves an intricate tapestry of visual splendor, philosophical depth, and environmental advocacy, reaffirming his position as a luminary in the worlds of pop and street art.
