  • Black Sabbath Silver Black Crescent Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY Black Sabbath Silver Black Crescent Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Black Sabbath Silver Black Crescent Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2013 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 125 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print of Metal Roc n' Roll Music Band Black Sabbath Featuring Ozzy Osbourne. "Black Sabbath has been one of my favorite bands for 25 years. I was fortunate to meet Jack Osbourne through my friend Big Dave in 2000. My relationship with Jack and Big Dave has led to several great Ozzy and Sabbath projects. One of my biggest “I’m not worthy!” moments occurred when Dave took me backstage to meet the Sabbath guys in 2004 at Ozzfest, and bassist and lyricist Geezer Butler was wearing an Obey shirt! Sabbath is still a phenomenal live band, and I’m incredibly honored to do my second(the first was in 2005) Sabbath/Obey tour poster. Sabbath released a great new record called “13” recently(produced by Rick Rubin) and are touring in support of the album." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY. Shepard Fairey's Interpretation of Black Sabbath's Legacy In 2013, Fairey, inspired by Black Sabbath's influence on his life and art, created a limited edition silkscreen print to commemorate the band's U.S.A. tour. This signed and numbered edition, limited to 125 pieces and sized at 18x24 inches, became an emblem of Black Sabbath's enduring impact on rock music and a collectible piece of street pop art. The artwork, hand-pulled on cream speckletone fine art paper, features iconic Black Sabbath symbols, such as the cross and the winged disc, alongside Fairey's signature style, which often includes elements like the star and the stylized imagery of the eye. The fusion of street pop art with music often manifests in gig posters, a medium that Shepard Fairey, known widely for his OBEY brand, has mastered with a distinctive style that resonates deeply within the pop culture landscape. His work for the iconic metal rock n' roll music band Black Sabbath, particularly the silver and black crescent silkscreen print, encapsulates the essence of the artist's and the band's legacies. The significance of Fairey's Black Sabbath artwork lies in its ability to bridge music's auditory experience with art's visual stimulus. The print does not merely represent the band; it evokes the rebellious spirit of Black Sabbath's music, the dark and mystical themes they explore, and the cultural movement they spearheaded within the heavy metal genre. Fairey's artistic trademarks, such as the word 'obey,' infuses the piece with a sense of authority and provocation that complements the band's ethos. Collectibility and Influence in the Art World Fairey's anecdote about meeting the band and finding Geezer Butler wearing an OBEY shirt is a testament to the reciprocal influence between artist and musician. It underlines how street pop art and music often come full circle, with artists influencing musicians and vice versa. The print is a celebration of the band's return with the album "13" and a nod to the historical relationship between the artist and Black Sabbath. It is this narrative that imbues the artwork with a personal touch, making it a profound statement within the realms of both pop culture and street art. As a collectible, the Black Sabbath silkscreen print by Shepard Fairey stands at the intersection of music memorabilia and fine art. Its scarcity and the reputation of its creator heighten its value not only in monetary terms but also as a cultural artifact. Collectors and fans seek such pieces for their aesthetic appeal and their ability to capture a moment in history, a period where music and street pop art intertwine to create a tangible representation of a musical era. In the broader spectrum of street pop art and graffiti artwork, Shepard Fairey's Black Sabbath print represents the genre's potential to transcend the streets and enter into the world of high art and collector's items. The piece, with its intricate design work and deep cultural connections, stands as a testament to the power of visual art to celebrate and immortalize the spirit of music.

  • Black or White Face 92 Original Oil Painting by Peter Keil

Peter Keil Black or White Face 92 Original Oil Painting by Peter Keil

Black or White Face 92 Original Oil Painting by Peter Keil: One-of-a-kind Artwork on Masonite Panel by The Wild Man of Berlin,  a Famous Contemporary Artist. 1992 Signed by Peter Keil & Dated Oil Painting on Masonite Panel Original Artwork Size 24x24. All of Peter Keil's Art Used Thick Paint & Some Paint Flaking May Be Present Due to the Age and Nature of His Work—painting of Black & White Face with Hat. Delving into "Black or White Face '92" by Peter Keil "Black or White Face '92" is an original oil painting on Masonite panel by Peter Keil, known as "The Wild Man of Berlin," a moniker that reflects his fierce and untamed approach to art. This artwork, created in 1992 and signed by the artist, measures 24x24 inches and is emblematic of Keil's bold and expressive style. The painting showcases a face rendered in stark black and white, adorned with a colorful hat that contrasts the composition. Keil's use of thick paint is evident here, a technique that gives the work its rich texture and depth, and over time, has led to some paint flaking, a characteristic that imparts an authentic patina to his pieces. The dichotomy of black and white in the painting resonates with the themes often explored in Street Pop Art and graffiti Artwork, where contrast is used to convey complex messages and evoke strong visual impact. Keil's depiction goes beyond the literal to hint at the dualities present within human nature and society. With its vibrant hues, the hat stands as a symbol of individuality and creativity, central to Keil's artistic philosophy and the spirit of street and pop art movements. Exploring the Significance of Keil's Technique and Medium In "Black or White Face '92," Peter Keil's technique and choice of medium speak volumes about his connection to the raw and immediate qualities associated with street art. His application of oil paint on Masonite panels, often in thick, impasto layers, creates a tactile surface that invites viewers to experience the artwork beyond its visual appeal. This sensory quality bridges the gap between the viewer and the artwork, making it more accessible and engaging, much like graffiti art that adorns urban landscapes. The Masonite panel itself, a departure from traditional canvas, underscores Keil's affinity with the street art genre, which favors unconventional materials and surfaces. The durability and solidity of Masonite also reflect the lasting impact of Keil's work, mirroring the permanence of graffiti art that becomes an integral part of the urban environment. This synergy between medium and message is a hallmark of Keil's art. It is a testament to his role as a pioneer in integrating the essence of street art into acceptable art practices. Keil's Artistic Legacy in Modern Art As exemplified by "Black or White Face '92," Peter Keil's artistic legacy is characterized by a vivid portrayal of human subjects and an unrestrained use of color and form. His works are a testament to the influence of street culture on contemporary art, demonstrating how the spontaneous and unfiltered expressions found in Street Pop Art and graffiti Artwork can be translated into the language of fine art. Keil's paintings are not mere representations but powerful expressions of emotion and identity infused with the artist's experiences and observations. Furthermore, the flaking of paint in Keil's work adds a dimension of time and history to his paintings, suggesting a narrative that extends beyond the moment of creation. This aspect of his work is particularly poignant in the context of street art, where the environment and the passage of time play crucial roles in shaping the artwork's life. Through his bold explorations and authentic expressions, Keil has left an indelible mark on modern art, inspiring artists and art enthusiasts to embrace the unconventional and appreciate the beauty inherent in the imperfections of the artistic process. "Black or White Face '92" is not just a significant piece within Peter Keil's body of work; it is a vibrant chapter in the story of street pop art and graffiti Art. It encapsulates Keil's artistry's energy, diversity, and creativity while reflecting the broader trends and transformations within contemporary art. As this piece continues to captivate viewers with its compelling imagery and rich textures, it serves as a reminder of Keil's enduring impact on the art world and his mastery of bringing the street into the gallery.

  • Memento Mori White AP HPM Wood Print by Ben Frost Memento Mori White AP HPM Wood Print by Ben Frost

Ben Frost Memento Mori White AP HPM Wood Print by Ben Frost

Memento Mori White HPM Hand Embellished Art Acrylic & Spray Paint on Shaped Wood Painting Artwork by Street Pop Modern Artist Ben Frost. AP Artist Proof 2021 Signed Marked HPM Hand Embellished AP & Titled Ben Frost Memento Mori (White), HPM Acrylic and Spray Paint on Shaped Wood Artwork Size 7-7/8 x 6-1/8 inches (20.1 x 15.5 cm) Ben Frost's "Memento Mori (White) HPM" presents a compelling convergence of street art sensibility with the classical theme of life's transient nature. This hand-embellished artist proof is a telling example of Frost's acumen in merging the edginess of modern pop art with profound historical motifs. The work is meticulously crafted using acrylic and spray paint on shaped wood, which reflects the artist's penchant for non-traditional surfaces reminiscent of urban textures and forms. Sized at 7-7/8 x 6-1/8 inches, the piece packs a visual punch, asserting its presence through bold coloration and dynamic composition. The central image of the skull, a time-honored emblem of mortality, is rendered with an arresting palette and cartoon-like exaggeration, mirroring the exaggerated realities often portrayed in pop culture. Frost's application of the memento mori theme through this lens highlights the contrast between the playful aspects of pop art and the sobering reminder of mortality that the image traditionally conveys. This juxtaposition is further enhanced by the lively eyes, which seem to animate the inanimate, lending a sense of vitality to the symbol of death. Frost's signature on this work, along with the designation 'HPM' (hand-painted multiple), marks it as a unique variant within a series, emphasizing the artist's direct engagement with each piece. Hand embellishment is significant, as it infuses the artwork with a layer of individuality, distinguishing it from the mass-produced feel that pop art sometimes implies. By doing so, Frost not only nods to the historical practice of artists touching each piece within an edition but also comments on the production and reproduction of images in our media-saturated society. "Memento Mori (White) HPM" stands as a testament to Ben Frost's ability to navigate and reinterpret the cross-sections of pop art and street art. Through his artwork, Frost not only invokes contemplation of our mortality but also critiques how contemporary culture packages and commercializes every aspect of human experience, including death. The artwork is a dialogue between the past and the present, a hand-embellished musing on what it means to be alive in a world where the iconography of death is as stylized and vibrant as the world of the living.

Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hi-Fi AP Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Hi-Fi AP Dance Floor Riot Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Artist Proof Hand-Pulled 1-Color Screen Print on Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Graffiti Pop Street Artwork. AP Artist Proof 2011 Signed & AP Marked Limited Edition Artwork Size 13x13 "Long before I knew about art galleries or even street art, I was excited about album cover art, if only because it was the visual counterpart to the music on the records I loved. Album covers conjured a euphoric association with the listening experience. Most of my earliest home-made tee shirts were stencils based on punk album covers… No matter how much I love art, or try to convince myself of its relevance in society, the fact remains that music is a lot cooler and way more able to reach people’s hearts and minds… but I’m a populist and I look at it this way: I may not play an instrument, but I’m gonna rock it hard as nails anyway. With my art I try to capture the same energy and spirit that makes music so powerful and democratic. REVOLUTIONS is a celebration of all the great music and accompanying art that has inspired me over the years." -Shepard Fairey Pop art, street art, and graffiti have always been mediums that offer a raw and unfiltered reflection of society, culture, and the artist's personal feelings. Among the luminaries in this realm, Shepard Fairey stands tall, his unique creations resonating with both art aficionados and the masses alike. The "Hi-Fi AP Dance Floor Riot" silkscreen print is a testament to his profound admiration for music and its intertwined relationship with visual arts. Crafted meticulously in 2011, this artist proof, hand-pulled, 1-color screen print on fine art paper, is not just an artwork but a fragment of Fairey’s soul, reverberating his passion for music. Shepard Fairey's initiation into the art world was not through the conventional means of art galleries but through album covers that acted as the visual symphony to the music he revered. Just as album art inspired emotions, memories, and an innate connection to the music, Fairey's street art endeavored to forge a similar connection with its audience. The silkscreen in question, sized at 13x13, embodies Fairey's attempt to harness the immense power and universal reach of music. His statement captures this sentiment eloquently, emphasizing how, despite art's intrinsic value, music has a superior prowess in touching human souls. His use of the term "REVOLUTIONS" is twofold, alluding to both the revolutions of a vinyl record and the socio-cultural revolutions music often incites. A deep dive into "Hi-Fi AP Dance Floor Riot" offers viewers a chance to journey through Fairey’s inspirations. The fusion of punk's rebellious nature, the invigorating energy of music, and the democratizing force of street art crystallizes in this piece. For those who see art not just as an aesthetic expression but as a pulsating representation of society and individual emotion, this silkscreen print is both a tribute and an inspiration. Through such creations, Shepard Fairey champions the ethos that one needn't play an instrument to rock the world – sometimes, a canvas and a vision are all it takes.

Winter Variant 24x24 Edition of 25 2021 "My work speaks of impending doom and a lot of crass sinister themes, but that should not mean I desire this to happen at all. I hope my work would suggest only the opposite: to show the ridiculousness of it all and how we may find better solutions for the future." -Denial Denial has evolved as one the most prominent figures of contemporary pop artists, who nonetheless, continue to stay relevant and is interested in generating thought-provoking commentary. He has a long history of exploring the boundaries of appropriation, which he uses as a means of subverting the value of cultural products, imprinted in the collective memory of the Western civilization. His work, in other words, is inviting the viewer to re-imagine our dystopian society as a way of confronting it, with humor and irony as the biggest tools of the artist.

Neal Russler Fish Lips Giclee Print by Neal Russler

Fish Lips Pop Street Artwork Limited Edition Giclee Print on 80lb White Cougar Cover Stock Fine Art Paper by Urban Graffiti Modern Artist Neal Russler. 2013 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 10 Giclee Print Artwork Size 7x5 Neal Russler's "Fish Lips" and the Nuances of Urban Street Art "Fish Lips" by Neal Russler is a compelling work that embodies the convergence of street art sensibilities with the refined techniques of fine art printmaking. This limited edition giclée print on fine art paper was introduced to the art scene in 2013 and has since captured the attention of collectors and fans of urban graffiti modern art. Signed and numbered by Russler, the artwork is part of an exclusive edition of just ten prints, each measuring 7 x 5 inches. "Fish Lips" showcases the unique blend of representational artistry and abstract conceptualization that characterizes much of Russler's work. The artwork features a monochromatic portrait of a woman juxtaposed with two fish, their lips nearly touching hers in an almost kiss. The intricate detailing of the scales and the intense gaze of the fish contrast starkly with the soft features of the woman, creating a dynamic interplay between the natural and the human. This contrast is reflective of the broader theme often found in street pop art and graffiti artwork, where unexpected elements are combined to challenge perceptions and provoke thought. Artistic Expression and Symbolism in "Fish Lips" Russler's "Fish Lips" is rich in symbolism and artistic expression, offering more than a surreal visual encounter. The fish, a creature that traditionally symbolizes fluidity and the subconscious, interacts with the human element in a manner that suggests a deeper connection between the two realms. The choice to portray the fish with such prominence alongside the human subject speaks to the intertwined nature of all life forms. This concept is both timeless and particularly resonant in the current ecological climate. The limited palette and the meticulous stippling technique used in "Fish Lips" lend the piece a texture and depth reminiscent of classic etchings. Yet, the content and composition are undeniably rooted in contemporary street art aesthetics. Russler's work bridges the gap between graffiti's often raw, public-facing nature and the private, contemplative experience of viewing fine art. With its limited edition status, the "Fish Lips" print elevates the typically ephemeral nature of street art to a collectible form, allowing it to be preserved and appreciated within the context of modern art history. Cultural Resonance and Collectibility of "Fish Lips" As a cultural artifact, "Fish Lips" resonates with the zeitgeist of urban experiences and environmental consciousness. The artwork's allure lies in its ability to encapsulate complex ideas within a simple composition. This quality makes it a coveted piece for those seeking depth in their art collection. The limited edition nature of the print adds a layer of exclusivity, appealing to the discerning collector who values the scarcity and authenticity of street-inspired art. Neal Russler's "Fish Lips" symbolizes the transformative potential of street pop art and graffiti artwork. It is a testament to the capacity of these art forms to transcend their traditional boundaries, merging with other artistic traditions to create visually arresting and intellectually stimulating pieces. The work invites viewers to explore the layers of meaning within the image, encouraging a dialogue about our relationship with the natural world and our place within it. In the greater narrative of street pop art, "Fish Lips" is a powerful example of the genre's versatility and impact. Neal Russler's unique voice in the art world, which incorporates elements of urban graffiti with modern acceptable art practices, continues to inspire and challenge. His work, particularly in pieces like "Fish Lips," showcases the dynamic potential of street art to engage with contemporary issues and resonate with a broad audience, making it an essential part of the contemporary art conversation.

With an extreme limited edition run of only ten pieces, exclusivity is at the heart of this creation. Every piece is authenticated and registered on the blockchain, ensuring its provenance and originality. The inclusion of an NFC chip and the partnership with the Fine Art Ledger for a digital Certificate of Authenticity showcases a blend of art and technology, ensuring each artwork's traceability and genuine origin. Reflecting on the cultural shift brought about by iconic sneakers, Marwan Shahin's blacked-out edition stands as a companion to the sold-out "Holy Grails Papyrus Edition." Eyes

The Symbolic Representation of Eyes in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Eyes have long been a captivating subject in art and symbolism, and their representation in street pop art and graffiti artwork is no exception. In these expressive forms, eyes are not just visual elements; they carry deep meanings and reflect the artists' perspectives on various themes. Street artists often utilize the imagery of eyes to convey emotions, social commentary, or political statements, making them a powerful tool for expression in public spaces. In street art, the eye can be a mirror to the soul of a city, reflecting its hidden stories and unspoken truths. The use of eyes in street pop art and graffiti takes on various forms and styles, from realistic depictions to abstract interpretations. Some artists may use eyes to create a sense of connection with the viewer, drawing them into a dialogue with the artwork. Others may use them to challenge societal norms or to bring attention to overlooked issues. The gaze of the eye in these artworks can be confronting, questioning, or empathetic, depending on the artist's intention. In many instances, the representation of eyes in street art goes beyond mere aesthetics. It can be a form of resistance or protest, a way for artists to assert their presence in a rapidly changing urban environment. In cities marked by gentrification and commercialization, the eyes in street art can symbolize the watchful gaze of the community, a reminder of the human stories and histories that permeate these spaces.

Integration of Eyes in Modern Street Pop Art Movements

In contemporary street pop art movements, the depiction of eyes is often integrated with other pop culture elements, creating a blend of the familiar and the surreal. This juxtaposition can highlight the absurdity of certain aspects of modern life or comment on the pervasive nature of media and surveillance in our society. The use of vibrant colors and bold lines, typical of pop art, adds to the impact of these depictions, making them stand out in the urban landscape. Moreover, the eye motif in graffiti artwork has evolved with new techniques and materials. Artists now have access to various tools for more detailed and intricate representations. This has led to a diversification in the style and execution of eye-themed street art, with some artists achieving photorealistic effects.
In contrast, others experiment with more abstract or stylized approaches. The influence of digital media and technology is also evident in how street art portrays eyes. Digital techniques enable artists to create more complex and layered compositions, blending traditional graffiti with digital imagery. This fusion broadens the scope of street art and allows artists to reach wider audiences through social media and digital platforms.

Impact of Eye Imagery on Public Perception and Engagement

The impact of eye imagery in street pop art and graffiti on public perception and engagement is significant. Eyes in street art often act as focal points, drawing the attention of passersby and inviting them to engage with the artwork. They can evoke emotions, from empathy and curiosity to discomfort and introspection. This emotional engagement is critical to the power of street art, as it creates a space for reflection and dialogue within the public sphere. Furthermore, the universal symbolism of the eye allows these artworks to transcend cultural and linguistic barriers, making them accessible to a diverse audience. This universality is essential in urban environments where people from various backgrounds coexist. As a symbol, the eye can thus serve as a bridge between different communities, fostering a sense of shared experience and understanding.

The Continuing Evolution of Eye Imagery in Street Art

As street pop art and graffiti continue to evolve, the representation of eyes is likely to remain a prominent theme. With each new generation of artists, new interpretations and techniques will emerge, keeping the imagery fresh and relevant. The eye, in all its forms, will continue to be a powerful symbol in the lexicon of street artists, a testament to the enduring ability of art to reflect and shape our perceptions of the world around us. Whether as a window to the soul or a mirror of society, the eyes in street art will continue to captivate and inspire, reminding us of the power of visual expression in our everyday lives.
