Shepard Fairey- OBEY Wetland Powers Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Wetland Powers Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 550 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print "This Wetland Powers print examines the repercussions of a Supreme Court largely in the pockets of big oil. The government is supposed to create the greatest good for the greatest number of people. Still, the conservative justices in the current Supreme Court have put the agendas of big oil and wealthy property owners ahead of safe and clean water for the citizenry. The concept of "common assets"… no one owns resources like air and water and needs to be protected for the benefit of all, seems lost on many people in business and government. It is up to us as voters to elect representatives who put the needs of the citizens first. The Supreme Court makeup is always important to consider when voting for our president since the sitting president selects appointees for Supreme Court justices." -Shepard Fairey- OBEY Shepard Fairey's "Wetland Powers": A Statement in Street Pop Art In street pop art, Shepard Fairey stands as a figure of monumental influence; his work is often intertwined with solid socio-political messages. The imagery features a female figure with elements that suggest a connection to nature and its defense. Fairey's work is known for its layered visual language; every element serves a symbolic purpose, and "Wetland Powers" is no exception. Environmental Advocacy through Art In "Wetland Powers," Fairey addresses the contentious issue of land rights versus environmental protection, particularly highlighting the Supreme Court's role in shaping the fate of U.S. wetlands. The print serves as a commentary on the court's decisions that Fairey perceives as favoring corporate interests over public environmental health. Through this piece, Fairey expresses his belief in safeguarding common assets — air, water, and land — for the collective good. The Cultural Resonance of Fairey's Work Shepard Fairey's art has always resonated with a broad audience, and his Obey campaign has become a cultural phenomenon. The owners of "Bonnie" thus become custodians of a moment in time, a piece of art that captures the transient beauty of life. The Enduring Appeal of Winnel's "Bonnie" The enduring appeal of "Bonnie" lies in its timeless quality and the universal emotions it evokes. Ready for the World Gameface by Puma x Max Sansing – Athletic Identity in Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork Ready for the World Gameface is a 2021 limited edition giclee print created as a collaboration between global sportswear brand Puma and American artist Max Sansing. Produced in a signed and numbered edition of 50, this artwork is printed on wove fine art paper and framed at 24 x 24 inches. Known for blending fine art portraiture with vibrant street sensibilities, Max Sansing brings a narrative of empowerment, focus, and transformation to this composition. The circular design centers on a dynamic hybrid image of a human face intersected with the form of a black panther—an emblem of power, vigilance, and grace. Surrounding the visual is the phrase Ready for the World and Game Face, establishing the piece as a symbolic preparation for challenge, resilience, and presence. The striking color palette, layered transitions, and textured gradients reflect Sansing’s background in both muralism and traditional painting techniques. Visual Armor and Emotional Poise Through Color and Form The central motif—a figure masked by and fused with the panther—evokes themes of duality and psychological preparation. Sansing uses sharply contoured color fields, vivid neons, and high-contrast shadowing to illustrate the mental and spiritual readiness of an individual confronting the external world. The subject’s eyes gaze forward beneath the protective shell of the panther’s face, suggesting a merging of internal clarity and external strength. Each layer of color works like armor, building toward a visual representation of personal evolution. The piece speaks directly to the culture of sport, street identity, and mental perseverance, making it an ideal narrative vessel within the world of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork. It connects the urban language of murals to the wearable messages of branded apparel. Surface Integrity, Framing, and Printed Precision Printed using high-fidelity giclee methods, the work retains all the vibrancy and painterly nuance of Sansing’s original design. The wove fine art paper supports rich ink saturation and allows for crisp transitions between color fields. Framed and preserved, the print carries slight creasing to the upper left corner and mild edge marks, but these do not diminish the visual impact of the composition. Instead, the imperfections enhance its physicality, grounding it in the tactile reality of printed art as both collectible and artifact. The circular design format allows the viewer’s gaze to rotate within the work, mirroring the internal repetition of mental preparation—the ritual of putting on a game face both literally and metaphorically. Max Sansing and the Energetics of Resilience in Contemporary Urban Iconography Max Sansing continues to assert himself as a key figure in the world of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork, blending fine art technique with urban philosophy and social insight. His ability to convey emotional complexity through bold color choices and cultural symbolism sets his work apart from purely decorative or illustrative art. Ready for the World Gameface is more than a sports branding piece—it is a manifesto on visual identity, personal focus, and the discipline of facing public life with inner readiness. Through this collaboration with Puma, Sansing brings the language of the street into direct conversation with athletic culture, creating a piece that resonates with strength, intention, and style. The print functions not only as visual inspiration but as a representation of the fusion between personal narrative and public expression in contemporary art.

  • People’s Discontent Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY People’s Discontent Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

People’s Discontent Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled Screen Print on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Pop Street Art Artwork. 2021 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 550 Artwork Size 24x18 Silkscreen Print of CHild Spray Painting Back of Bus With Graffiti "I teamed up with my good friend and documentary photographer, Martha Cooper, on a new print release called “People’s Discontent.” Martha Cooper has been photographing creative kids in action on city streets since the mid-1970s. I remixed one of Martha’s iconic photos from her book, Street Play, titled “Hitchhiking a Bus on Houston Street” that she shot in 1978 in the Lower East Side of New York City. There was no advertisement on the back of the bus in her original photo, and since disco was the rage in the late ’70s, I thought it made sense for me to add a disco radio station with the slogan, “Listen To The Sounds of People’s Disco.” I added the “DISCO-ntent” and the spraypaint can in the kid’s hand as if he sprayed that on there. It’s a nod to that era but also to what’s going on now with the unrest around social justice issues. This limited edition print was first released through Urban Nation Museum in Berlin as part of their current show “Martha Cooper: Taking Pictures” curated by Jaime Rojo and Steven P. Harrington of Brooklyn Street Art." -Shepard Fairey People’s Discontent Silkscreen Print is a powerful example of the intersection between pop art, street art, and graffiti art. Shepard Fairey, better known by his moniker 'OBEY,' collaborated with renowned documentary photographer Martha Cooper to create this piece, drawing inspiration from the vibrant street culture that emerged in New York City in the 1970s. This print showcases Fairey's creative remix of an iconic photo by Cooper, titled “Hitchhiking a Bus on Houston Street.” The print is an intricate hand-pulled silkscreen creation on cream Speckletone Fine Art paper. Fairey added his own touch to the original photograph by inserting a disco radio station advertisement and a spray paint can in the child's hand, evoking the rebellious spirit of graffiti art. The juxtaposition of the disco radio station and the defiant "DISCO-ntent" slogan signify the sociopolitical unrest of the period, with a particular nod to the burgeoning disco movement. Fairey, while staying true to his street art roots, successfully adds a layer of pop art through the use of vibrant, mass-culture imagery, capturing a transformative period in urban history. By contextualizing this piece within the larger narrative of social justice issues, Fairey's artwork exemplifies the power of pop and street art to comment on, challenge, and shape societal norms. This limited edition print of 550 is a part of Urban Nation Museum's exhibition “Martha Cooper: Taking Pictures," curated by Jaime Rojo and Steven P. Harrington of Brooklyn Street Art. People’s Discontent Silkscreen Print represents a fusion of artistic styles, functioning as both a snapshot of a moment in time and a commentary on social issues, making it a unique and coveted piece among collectors and enthusiasts.

The Distinctive Fusion of Surrealism and Street Pop Art in Goonie 037 by Naoto Hattori Naoto Hattori's original watercolor painting, "Goonie 037," presents a compelling narrative within the spectrum of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork despite its more traditional medium and surrealistic approach. Diverging from the typical urban landscapes and politicized messages of street art, Hattori encapsulates an enigmatic presence that resonates with the peculiar and profound characteristics that align with the whimsical and the bizarre. The small-scale image size of 3x3 inches, housed within an 8.5x8.5-inch frame, commands attention through its intimacy and intricacy, a testament to Hattori's meticulous craftsmanship. Crafted in 2013, this one-of-a-kind watercolor painting brings forth the imaginative realms Hattori is renowned for while also hinting at the essence of Street Pop Art through its unique presentation and the artist's choice to custom frame and matt the piece himself. This personal involvement in the presentation echoes the hands-on approach of street artists, who often control every aspect of their work, from conception to installation. The artwork's intricacy and bespoke framing suggest a dialogue with the viewer, an intimate exchange often sought after in street art. Hattori's "Goonie 037" does not explicitly borrow from the visual language of graffiti but instead infuses the personalized, often subversive spirit of graffiti art into a more surreal and fantastical realm. This piece, signed and validated by the artist, showcases his skill in rendering otherworldly subjects with a precision and depth that is palpably felt. Although the work is rooted in fine art traditions, its spirit of non-conformity and the surprise element inherent in its surreal subject resonates with the disruptive ethos of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork. Naoto Hattori's Artistic Legacy and the Intersection with Urban Aesthetics While "Goonie 037" might at first glance seem distant from the raw vibrancy of street art, its singular nature aligns with the one-off pieces that adorn city walls, often never to be replicated or seen elsewhere. Hattori's decision to engage with watercolor—a medium often perceived as delicate and requires a systematic approach—parallels the precision street artists apply with their spray cans and stencils. The artwork's surreal character challenges the viewer's perception and invites interpretations as varied as the audience that encounters it, akin to the diverse viewership of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork. The convergence of Naoto Hattori's work with the sensibilities of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork lies in the shared ethos of both realms to evoke emotion, challenge norms, and captivate through visual storytelling. "Goonie 037," with its rich textures and profound depth, embodies a visual monologue that speaks to the onlooker on multiple levels. The artwork encourages a pause, a closer inspection, and a moment of reflection, much like street art that compels passersby to stop and ponder. In examining the legacy of Naoto Hattori and his creation "Goonie 037," one can see the threads that connect his work with the larger tapestry of Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork. His oeuvre reminds us that art cannot be confined to a single category or style but is a fluid and ever-evolving entity that draws from myriad influences and manifests in various forms. "Goonie 037" thus stands as a bridge between the worlds of surrealism and street art, embodying the transformative power of art to transcend boundaries and engage with viewers across diverse spectrums.

Face & Head
Pop art, street art, and graffiti art are dynamic genres that have left a notable impact on contemporary visual culture, with the face and head often emerging as central themes. This motif, universally recognized and instantly engaging, has been utilized by artists for its potent ability to convey a myriad of emotions, messages, and identities. The bold, provocative world of pop art first began to champion the face and head in the mid-20th century. Icons such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein used this motif to challenge cultural norms, presenting familiar faces - often celebrities - in unexpected ways. Warhol's multicolored depictions of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and other celebrities, for instance, elevated these figures to the status of mass-produced commodities, critiquing the consumerist culture of the time. Lichtenstein, on the other hand, drew from comic books, using the exaggerated expressions of his characters to comment on society's emotional sterility. Street art and graffiti, which originated from the urban underground, have also widely employed the face and head motif. These art forms often serve as a platform for social and political commentary, and the face's universality makes it a powerful tool for artists to communicate with their audience. Banksy, an anonymous England-based street artist, often uses stenciled images of faces and heads to articulate messages of peace, rebellion, or social justice. On walls, buildings, and streets, these faces become a form of visual language that transcends boundaries, resonating with diverse audiences. In the realm of graffiti art, the face and head motif often emerges in the form of tags, throw-ups, and pieces. Notably, the stylized signatures or 'tags' of graffiti artists frequently incorporate face-like elements, signifying the artist's identity in a cryptic yet visually compelling manner. Artists such as SEEN and Dondi White have showcased their unique vision through the depiction of faces and heads, highlighting their individuality amidst the vast graffiti landscape. From the stylized and glamorous portraits of pop art to the raw and rebellious depictions in street and graffiti art, the face and head motif has remained a constant. It serves as a conduit for human emotion and identity, speaking volumes about the society in which it is embedded. Through the different lenses of pop, street, and graffiti art, the face and head motif continues to challenge, provoke, and captivate, making it a cornerstone of these vibrant art movements.
