Irving Amen (1918-2011) was an American artist known for his versatility in working with a variety of artistic media. Born in New York City, Amen began his career at a young age, studying at the Art Students League and later attending the Pratt Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, Italy. He was a prolific artist, creating paintings, sculptures, etchings, woodcuts, and lithographs throughout his career. Amen's work was characterized by a strong sense of composition and a deep understanding of the human form. His subjects ranged from abstract scenes to landscapes, cityscapes, and religious themes. One of his most well-known series of works, "The Amen Suite," was a group of woodcuts that depicted scenes from the Bible.
