Jason Seife 011|110- 22 x 22 Archival Print by Jason Seife

Purchase 011|110- 22 x 22 Limited Edition Hand-Embellished HPM Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Jason Seife Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "The overall theme of this series was overcoming obstacles and tough times to reach a greater goal, this piece, in particular, referencing the betrayal of Jesus by Judas, which to some may seem like a direct religious or biblical reference, but it, in fact, can be related to our everyday life in the feeling of betrayal which is something we have to deal with from friends, coworkers and sometimes even family/loved ones. It's a very tough thing to get over, and something I wanted to transcend into my painting. This piece, like a lot of my work, was inspired by a renaissance painting. In this case, it was a Caravaggio piece. Coming from a background in graphic design and just design in general, aesthetically I like playing off of symmetry and geometric shapes which bring a more modern take on the renaissance style. Presenting styles in a way our eyes aren't accustomed to viewing them is something that intrigues me." - Jason

  • Serpents PP Letterpress Print by Gats- Graffiti Against The System

Gats- Graffiti Against The System Serpents PP Letterpress Print by Gats- Graffiti Against The System

Purchase Serpents PP Printer Proof Letterpress Print by Gats- Graffiti Against The System Limited Edition 3-Color on Hand Deckled 250gsm Lenox Art Paper Graffiti Street Pop Artwork. PP Printer Proof 2016 Signed & Marked PP Limited Edition Artwork Size 12x18 Letterpress Print Gats- Graffiti Against The System' "Serpents": A Letterpress Legacy in Street Pop Art The "Serpents" by Gats- Graffiti Against The System, an acronym for Graffiti Against The System, is a symbolic work that encapsulates the raw essence and socio-political underpinnings of street pop art and graffiti. As a Printer's Proof (PP) letterpress print from 2016, this artwork showcases the distinct visual language for which Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby has become renowned. It is a limited edition, three-color print on hand deckled 250gsm Lenox art paper, meticulously signed and marked by the artist, signifying its importance within the edition. The 12x18-inch size allows the intricate details and the stark contrasts of the letterpress technique to shine, emphasizing the artistry and message conveyed by the piece. Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby is known for his iconic mask imagery, which is prevalent throughout his work and serves as a symbol of anonymity and universality. The "Serpents" print continues this thematic exploration, with the mask motif taking center stage, surrounded by serpentine forms that could be interpreted as literal and metaphorical representations. Letterpress printing adds a tactile depth to the work, harking back to a time when print was both a craft and a form of communication for the masses. Letterpress Printing and Its Resonance in Gats- Graffiti Against The System' Work The choice of letterpress for "Serpents" is particularly significant in the context of Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby's oeuvre. Letterpress printing, with its origins in traditional craftsmanship, brings a historical weight to the work, juxtaposing the transience of graffiti with the permanence of printed art. The hand-deckled edges of the Lenox art paper contribute a delicate, almost antique quality to the print, suggesting that its message is timeless and enduring. Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby's work is often laden with social commentary, and "Serpents" is no exception. The piece reflects Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby's engagement with the urban environment, his critique of societal systems, and his contemplation of the individual's place within the larger context. The layered meaning within the print, combined with the striking aesthetic, indicates the power of street pop art to capture the viewer's gaze and provoke thought and discourse. The Cultural Impact of Gats- Graffiti Against The System' "Serpents" In street pop art and graffiti artwork, Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby is a figure who bridges various artistic worlds. His work "Serpents" is not merely a static image but a dynamic interaction of historical printmaking techniques and contemporary street art sensibilities. As a limited edition PP print, it occupies a unique niche within the art market, appealing to collectors of fine art prints and fans of street art. In summary, "Serpents" by Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby exemplifies the artist's dedication to a form of expression rooted in the history of printmaking while being deeply entrenched in the discourse of modern street art. His utilization of letterpress printing on high-quality Lenox paper underscores a commitment to craft in an age of mass production. Through works like "Serpents," Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby continues to contribute to the narrative of street pop art, offering visually captivating and intellectually stimulating pieces. The print stands as a testament to the potential of street art to transcend its temporary nature and establish itself as a significant and lasting form of cultural expression.

"This piece was born from the inspiration of a personal struggle I was experiencing with overcoming certain obstacles in my life surrounding addiction. Not just chemical addiction, but addictive thoughts and behaviors that didn't serve my highest good. The lion archetype visited me in my dreams during this time of struggle with addiction. I dreamt I was a lion running with full force through a dense jungle. I had a thick rope in my mouth and as I ran through this jungle people were fighting to grab the free sides of the rope to try and slow me down from running so fast. It was getting snagged and I felt extreme pain in my body. The pain grew to the point my body caught on fire, I could feel my flesh searing. I remember fighting through it and eventually, the pain went away and I kept running forward. Pretty Intense! So I combined my vision of the lion with the mandala to mirror a frequency of courage, strength, and power to its the viewer and the space that it is hung in." - Chris Saunders

So we painted a giant radio on it. Since then I wanted to pay a long over-due homage to this building in Bushwick, Brooklyn that no longer exists. The original mural was just flat black with metallic silver spray paint, so when I decided to finally make a print I felt like it had to have that same feel. So the only way I know how to get that really thick metallic look is to silkscreen print it with good ol' plastisol on tar paper." - Ad Deville of Skewville

Metallic Ink Graffiti Street Pop Artwork

Metallic Ink in the Fabric of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Innovations with Metallic Ink in Urban Art

Metallic ink has emerged as a revolutionary medium in the creation of street pop art and graffiti artwork, offering artists the ability to infuse their works with a dynamic sheen that interacts with light and the environment. This material consists of metallic particles, such as copper, aluminum, or bronze powders, suspended in a transparent ink base, allowing for a range of reflective surfaces that capture the essence of metal within a fluid medium. The result is artwork with a living quality, changing and adapting to its surroundings as light shifts and viewers move.

Application and Durability of Metallic Inks

Applying metallic ink in urban art demands a certain level of skill and understanding of the medium. Whether it's through spray cans designed explicitly for graffiti or specialized inks used in screen printing for pop art, the application method significantly affects the outcome. The durability of metallic inks, mainly when used in an outdoor setting, is a critical consideration for artists. Advances in ink technology have improved the longevity of these materials, allowing them to maintain their luster and resist fading over time.

Visual Impact of Metallics in Art Composition

The visual impact of metallics in art composition must be balanced. In street pop art and graffiti, metallic ink adds a layer of depth and sophistication, bringing a luxurious feel to even the most industrial of landscapes. The reflective quality of the ink adds a dynamic element to compositions, creating a sense of movement and life that flat colors cannot achieve. Artists utilize this to draw attention to specific elements of their work, using the reflective nature of metallic ink as a focal point.

Cultural Significance and Symbolism

The cultural significance and symbolism associated with metallic ink are as varied as the artists who employ it. In some contexts, the use of metallics can signify wealth, power, and status, while in others, it can be used ironically to critique these very concepts. The shimmer of metallic ink can also evoke a futuristic feel, aligning with themes of technology and innovation that are prevalent in much of street pop art and graffiti.

Metallic Ink and the Evolution of Street Art Aesthetics

The introduction of metallic ink has significantly influenced the evolution of street art aesthetics. As urban artists continually seek new methods to stand out and push the boundaries of the genre, metallics offer a way to innovate and captivate. The reflective properties of metallic ink also play with the concept of space and perception, allowing artists to transform flat walls into three-dimensional experiences. Metallic ink has added a new dimension to the world of street pop art and graffiti artwork, providing artists with a tool to create pieces that are not only visually arresting but also full of depth and life. As this medium continues to evolve, so will how artists incorporate it into their work, experimenting with its possibilities and challenging the traditional boundaries of urban art. In the glint of a metallic-laden piece, one can see the future of street pop art and graffiti—a future that shines bright and reflects the ever-changing world it inhabits.
