  • MUSACK Terry Hall Tribute Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Shepard Fairey- OBEY MUSACK Terry Hall Tribute Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

MUSACK Terry Hall Tribute Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled 2-Color on True White Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 300 Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print. Lynval Golding & Team Specials, Billy Idol, Jane Wiedlin, Tim Armstrong, Tony Kanal, Tom Dumont, Adrian Young, Fishbone, Jerry Harrison, Tre Cool, Fred Armisen, Jesse Michaels. Donita Sparks. The Jg All-Stars. Bite Me Bambi. Record Safari Gig Poster "Terry Hall, singer of the Specials, one of my favorite bands, died of pancreatic cancer a little less than a year ago. This past Saturday, Musack did an amazing tribute to Terry with a bonkers lineup, including Horace Panter and Lynval Golding of the Specials, Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s, Fishbone, No Doubt (except Gwen), Tom Morello, Tim Armstrong and Jesse Michaels of Operation Ivy, Donita Sparks of L7, and others! I fell in love with the Specials in the summer of 1989, around the time I started listening to Operation Ivy and Fishbone, so to have members of all those bands celebrating Terry was incredible! I was also able to do the poster for the event based on a beautiful photo by Chalkie Davies. There are two versions of the print, one with the event lineup included and another that is a simpler tribute to Terry. The black and white print are editions of 325, but the show lineup print is a smaller quantity (edition of 300) because many were sold at the event, and all proceeds from those benefit Musack, an excellent music charity for kids. On a personal note, Terry came by my studio a couple of times, and we talked for hours. He was kind, thoughtful, and very open about life’s ups and downs. We talked about kids, mental health, insecurity, relationships, the therapeutic benefits of creativity, and many other heavy topics. He was a kindred spirit who I thought I’d be friends with for many years. This print was done with love… thanks for the tunes Terry!" -Shepard Fairey- OBEY MUSACK's tribute to the legendary Terry Hall, the iconic singer of the Specials, is encapsulated in a visually arresting silkscreen print crafted by Shepard Fairey, renowned for his OBEY art movement. This piece, hand-pulled in 2-color on True White Speckletone Fine Art Paper, is a testament to the profound influence Terry Hall had on the music industry and its fans. The artwork is an exquisite fusion of pop art, street art, and graffiti art, embodying the very essence of Terry Hall's spirit and impact on the world. Released in 2023 as a signed and numbered limited edition, with only 300 prints in circulation, the artwork measures 18x24 inches. The artistry is profound, drawing inspiration from a poignant photograph Chalkie Davies took. Two versions of this print exist, one showcasing an event lineup and the other serving as a more streamlined homage to Hall. While the black and white prints are available in editions of 325, the one bearing the event lineup is more exclusive, with a count of 300, many of which were already acquired during the event. The backstory of this piece is equally captivating. MUSACK's heartfelt tribute event celebrated Terry's life, boasting a staggering lineup of eminent musicians, from Horace Panter and Lynval Golding of the Specials to Jane Wiedlin of the Go-Go’s, Fishbone, and members of No Doubt, among others. Shepard Fairey's interactions with Terry add depth to the artwork. Terry, in his visits to Shepard's studio, revealed layers of his personality, discussing topics ranging from mental health to the therapeutic nature of creativity. Shepard saw him as a kindred spirit, and their interactions were laden with deep understanding and mutual respect. This artwork, hence, is not just an aesthetic masterpiece but a heartfelt tribute, reverberating with the essence of Terry Hall's life and legacy.

His "Love Above All" silkscreen print series includes a hand-pulled piece on deckled fine art paper that celebrates the iconic reggae musician Bob Marley. This legend continues to inspire beyond the realm of music into visual art. The 2024 release, a limited edition of 79, embodies the spirit of Marley in a 30x36-inch silkscreen print that merges the visual and auditory, capturing the essence of reggae in a symphony of color and texture. Thierry Guetta's Artistic Homage to Bob Marley Thierry Guetta, hailing from France and making waves in the United States, has become a stalwart in the Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork movement. His work often reflects a profound respect for cultural figures who have influenced society meaningfully. The "Love Above All" print featuring Bob Marley is an artistic accolade, presenting the musician in a thought-provoking, respectful, and transformative stance. Each print is not merely a representation but a conversation between the artist and the subject, between the viewer and the viewed, translating Marley's ethos into a visual form that speaks of his lasting impact on the world. In creating this print, Mr. Brainwash has employed his signature style, which often includes vibrant hues splashed with a deliberate spontaneity akin to how Marley's music flows with natural rhythm and poignant lyrics. The hand-pulled silkscreen technique employed by Guetta ensures that each piece of this limited series bears the individuality and imperfections that are the hallmarks of human creativity. The hand-deckled edges of the fine art paper further the uniqueness of each print, reinforcing that, like humans, no two pieces are exactly alike. Reggae's Influence on Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork Reggae music's powerful influence stretches beyond its Jamaican roots and into the global art community, influencing genres like Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork with themes of resistance, social justice, and love. Mr. Brainwash's silkscreen print is a testament to this influence, harnessing the power of visual art to celebrate and perpetuate the cultural significance of Bob Marley's legacy. In the intricate layers of the print, viewers can sense the rhythm and the call for unity and positivity that are synonymous with Marley's music. Moreover, the artwork becomes a beacon within the street art community, showcasing how the walls that once divided musical expression from visual art are now channels of communication and celebration. It also emphasizes the enduring relevance of Marley's messages and how they resonate within the urban art scene. Mr. Brainwash's decision to encapsulate Marley's image within a silkscreen print, a medium traditionally associated with pop art, demonstrates a conscious blending of artistic disciplines and cultural narratives. Legacy and Continuity in Modern Art Forms The legacy of figures like Bob Marley in modern art forms, especially in Street Pop Art & Graffiti Artwork, is pivotal in maintaining cultural continuity. Mr. Brainwash's "Love Above All" silkscreen print of Marley is a vibrant reminder of the musician's enduring influence. It stands as a cultural bridge, connecting the heart of reggae with the pulse of street art, allowing a new generation to appreciate Marley's contribution to music and social change. Signed and numbered by Guetta, each print becomes a part of this bridge, a collector's piece that carries the weight of history and the freshness of contemporary art. The limited nature of the edition – only 79 in existence – adds to the desirability of the print, making it a coveted piece for those who appreciate the intersections of music, history, and art. In crafting this homage to Bob Marley, Thierry Guetta, or Mr. Brainwash, has created a visual anthem that celebrates love, life, and freedom – themes that are as central to street art as they were to Marley's music. It is a celebration not just of a musician's life but of the powerful ways art can capture and immortalize the essence of a cultural icon. Through this print, Guetta ensures that Marley's melodies and messages continue to inspire and resonate within the visual tapestry of our lives.

Sterling Spoon Janes Addiction Calavera AP Artist Proof Silkscreen Print on Fine Art Paper by Latino Artist Ernesto Yerena Montejano- Hecho Con Ganas. AP Artist Proof 2016 Signed & Marked Limited Edition Artwork Size 18x24 Sterling Spoon Janes Addiction Calavera AP Artist Proof stands as a testament to the convergence of pop art and street art, epitomized in the modern art scene. Produced in 2016, this silkscreen print, crafted meticulously on fine art paper, is the brainchild of the acclaimed Latino artist, Ernesto Yerena Montejano, who is widely recognized under the banner "Hecho Con Ganas." Montejano's artistry is renowned for weaving cultural narratives and themes, particularly from his Latino heritage, into contemporary artistic expressions that resonate across a global audience. Diving deeper into the artwork, one cannot overlook its size – an impressive 18x24 inches – that commands attention and ensures that the details and nuances are not lost on the viewer. The choice of the Calavera, or skull, as a motif is not arbitrary. It embodies themes of mortality, celebration, and remembrance, often associated with the Day of the Dead celebrations in Latin cultures. This ties the work to a deep-rooted tradition while presenting it through the lens of modern-day pop and street art. What sets this piece apart, even more, is its exclusivity. As an Artist Proof, it is not just a mere representation of Montejano's vision but also offers a closer, more personal glimpse into his creative process. Marked with the artist’s signature, this limited edition piece serves as a bridge between the urban streets from where street art draws its inspiration and the polished galleries that pop art often finds its home. Such a piece not only speaks of its inherent artistic value but also stands as a chronicle of the times, cultures, and emotions that birthed it.

Ben Frost DJ Qbert Archival Print by Ben Frost x Denial- Daniel Bombardier

DJ Qbert Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Ben Frost, Denial, DJ Qbert Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. Canadian artist Denial and Australian-born Ben Frost have joined forces in a bold exhibition of new work that explores the boundaries of appropriation, in confronting re-imaginings of our current dystopian society. "Company of Thieves" at Inner State Gallery in Detroit with special guest DJ Qbert. These self-confessed ‘visual thieves have a long history of stealing and subverting the cultural icons that the advertising and consumerist world has thrust upon us, creating new and pertinent interpretations that are as confronting as they are humorous. This collaboration with DJ Qbert carries on with this theme as all 3 artists join together as a Company of Thieves, sampling and remixing to create something entirely new. Ben Frost is utilizing imagery familiar to western culture in order to make a statement about the culture itself on the basis of consumerism, modern icons, big corporations, etc. Animation characters, pop icons, brand logos, and many more are transformed into vibrant artworks and find their place in galleries. With this in mind, and in the case of Ben Frost, it is futile to try to identify a clear borderline between low and high art. In reality, the artist wants the audience to think on the terms of high or low value and, by extension, what these actually mean. Over the years street artists have managed to establish themselves as respected creators and some of them have even gained international fame, transforming graffiti from a fringe art, aiming sometimes to mark street gangs’ territory, into big business.

Tom Dula Black AP Artist Proof Silkscreen Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY Hand-Pulled on Cream Speckletone Fine Art Paper Limited Edition Artwork Obey Pop Culture Artist. AP Artist Proof 2012 Signed & Marked AP Limited Edition Artwork Size 18x24 Silkscreen Print—Lonesome Tree Stylized Old Gnarled Tree in Western Desert Setting. Thomas C. Dula was a former Confederate soldier who was convicted of murdering Laura Foster, based on a song made famous by Kingston Trio. Shepard Fairey's "Tom Dula Black AP" is a silkscreen print that fuses historical narrative with the artist's signature graphic style. Created in 2012, this piece is part of a limited edition set, hand-pulled with a color process on Fairey’s preferred medium, cream speckletone fine art paper. Each print in the series bears Fairey's signature and the distinctive 'AP' mark, denoting it as an Artist Proof. This status is often valued due to its rarity and direct connection to the artist's initial vision. Measuring 18x24 inches, the artwork presents a lone, stylized tree in a desolate Western desert setting. The barren landscape serves as a symbolic backdrop to the sad tale of Thomas C. Dula, a former Confederate soldier whose name became immortalized in the folk song "Tom Dooley" following his controversial conviction and execution for the murder of Laura Foster. Fairey's choice to represent this narrative through a stark and solitary tree amidst an arid terrain reflects the isolation and finality of Dula's fate. This print stands out in pop and street art for its storytelling through visual symbolism. The work does not merely capture viewers' attention with its aesthetic but also invites them to engage with a deeper historical narrative, a characteristic often found in Fairey's body of work. It showcases the artist's ability to navigate the intersection of pop culture and fine art, where historical references become part of the modern visual lexicon. Shepard Fairey’s work frequently contains layers of meaning with a propensity for social commentary. With "Tom Dula Black AP," the art is not only about presenting a visual narrative but also evoking an emotional response that connects the historical past with contemporary culture. This piece is a poignant example of how street art can transcend its urban origins, entering the gallery space as a powerful storytelling medium that bridges historical context and modern expression.
