Ben Frost Word Games Blotter Paper Archival Print by Ben Frost

Word Games Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Ben Frost pop culture LSD artwork. Australian contemporary artist Ben Frost is best known for his bold, irreverent Pop Art. His instantly recognizable take on pop culture twists up everyday iconography from the world’s biggest brands. Subverting meaning and messages from the mainstream media, Frost’s scathing commentary on advertising, entertainment, and politics is both confronting and controversial. The essence of Frost’s commentary is established on the basis of subverting the meaning and the messages, promoted by the mainstream media. In other words and, as he has stated in the past: “The less you fill your mind with the trappings of advertising and bad television, the more space you have in your brain for things of value”. At the same time, his take on modern pop culture is equally compelling. Mainstream media, advertisements, and politics can be identified as some of his main fields of interest, which he utilizes and mixes up in a controversial formation. The word controversial is not used incidentally. What Ben Frost’s art is doing is, essentially, the appropriation and weaponization of imagery against the same system that gave birth to it.

Shepard Fairey- OBEY Psychedelic Andre- Endless Summer Blotter Paper Print by Shepard Fairey- OBEY

Psychedelic Andre - Endless Summer Obey Giant Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Shepard Fairey X John Van Hamersveld pop culture LSD artwork. "I first made this image in 1967, and then the poster came out in 1968. One day I sat down and started this drawing out of my style. I had been an art director at Capitol Records, and I hadn't been drawing very much. It was a whole new state I was in. But it was an opportunity to test my drawing and put it into a poster and have it published. It all came out great. It was a fantastic show. There were ads everywhere and people loved the poster. It just started to become a piece of history right away, much like The Endless Summer poster." - John Van Hamersveld "I became a fan of Hendrix after I exited my punk rock orthodoxy phase. I ended up gravitating towards John's image because it had that nod to psychedelia, without going so overboard in the baroque detail, that it remained iconic. This Hendrix image itself — along with a few other influences, like Barbara Kruger and Russian Constructivism — was a huge influence in how I was going to make work that had the ability to cut through the clutter of what's on the street and still have a recognizable style. When I was just making variations of the Andre on the different backgrounds, I was looking at a lot of psychedelic work, but John's piece really inspired me to make something that was a deviation from just playing it safe with the original Andre image. So John's Pinnacle Hendrix was sort of a gateway to the evolution of my entire Andre The Giant project. I can't really understate the importance of this image for me." - Shepard Fairey

Released in 2020, this piece is a part of a limited edition of 300 signed and numbered artworks, each measuring 18x24 inches, allowing the viewer to immerse in its detail and messaging at a significant scale. The print features a young girl at its center, set against a backdrop that bursts with vibrant color and geometric patterns reminiscent of traditional indigenous art. These patterns surround the subject in a halo-like manner, suggesting a spiritual or ancestral connection. The girl's pose, with arms outstretched, further symbolizes an embrace of her cultural legacy, conveying a sense of openness and acceptance. Yerena's use of bold lines and vivid hues is characteristic of his work, which often highlights cultural and political themes, particularly those pertaining to his Chicano heritage. Mejorado's collaboration brings an added layer of authenticity, capturing the essence of the subject with photographic precision before it is transformed through Yerena's distinctive graphic style. This artwork speaks to a reclamation of identity and a celebration of cultural roots within the urban context. It bridges communities and dialogues by reclaiming public spaces for indigenous narratives through the medium of street art. In the art market, where the voices of indigenous people and their cultural imprints have often been marginalized, "Indigenous Roots Reclaimed" stands as a testament to the resilience and enduring beauty of these traditions. This piece is not only a work of art but also a powerful statement in the ongoing conversation about cultural heritage and representation in the arts. It pays homage to the past while remaining firmly rooted in the present, showcasing how traditional motifs can find new life and resonance within the sphere of modern art. Ernesto Yerena Montejano's work, amplified by Arlene Mejorado's photographic eye, ensures that "Indigenous Roots Reclaimed" is not only seen but felt, prompting a contemplative engagement with the viewer on themes of identity, history, and the power of art as a vehicle for social commentary and cultural celebration.

Denial- Daniel Bombardier Acid Test Results Blotter Paper Archival Print by Denial- Daniel Bombardier

Acid Test Results Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Denial pop culture LSD artwork. In 2000 he adopted the moniker ‘DENIAL’ as a means of poking fun at advertising, politics, and media messages that contemporary society is often ‘in denial about. Since then he has maintained an ongoing global street-campaign of over 500, 000 stickers, placards, and murals, using the alpha-numeric characters ‘D3N!@L’. Intended as a conceptual means of marketing absurdism, DENIAL also challenges traditional notions of graffiti and public art through his bold and often satirical visual subversions. Denial has evolved as one the most prominent figures of contemporary pop artists, who nonetheless, continue to stay relevant and is interested in generating thought-provoking commentary. He has a long history of exploring the boundaries of appropriation, which he uses as a means of subverting the value of cultural products, imprinted in the collective memory of the Western civilization. His work, in other words, is inviting the viewer to re-imagine our dystopian society as a way of confronting it, with humor and irony as the biggest tools of the artist.

  • Biohazard Slap-Up Label Sticker Original Tag Art by Saber Blue 1 Biohazard Slap-Up Label Sticker Original Tag Art by Saber Blue 2

Saber Biohazard Slap-Up Label Sticker Original Tag Art by Saber

This Biohazard Neon Orange Slap-Up Label Sticker Original Tag Art by Saber Original Acrylic Paint Art Drawing on Biohazard Label Sticker by Graffiti Artist Modern Street Artwork. 2020 Signed Original Slap Up Graffiti Art Tag 6x6 Acrylic Paint Tagged on Medical Biohazard Label Sticker. Neon High Visibility Orange Biohazard Symbol Uline label #S-20794. Exploring the Fusion of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork In the dynamic sphere of contemporary visual culture, street pop art and graffiti artwork stand out as potent forms of expression that encapsulate urban life's rhythm and raw sentiments. Among the luminaries of this genre is the renowned graffiti artist Saber, known for his striking contributions to the street art panorama. The piece under scrutiny is a vibrant example of his ingenuity—a 6x6 acrylic or marker piece tagged on a medical biohazard label sticker featuring a neon high visibility orange biohazard symbol from Uline label #S-20794. Distinctive Aesthetic of Saber's Tag Art Saber's original permanent marker art drawing on a mailing glossy arrow sticker presents a striking visual paradox. The neon orange of the biohazard symbol evokes a sense of caution, typically used to warn of dangerous substances. Contrasted with the blue drips of paint that appear haphazardly splashed across the surface, there is intentional defiance and palpable tension between structure and chaos. This work is a signed 2020 original slap-up graffiti art tag that showcases not just the artist's signature style but also his ability to transform ordinary objects into powerful statements. The choice of a biohazard label as a canvas is a commentary on the infectious nature of art and ideas. Saber effectively takes a symbol that denotes hazard and contamination and recontextualizes it within the aesthetic of street pop art. By doing so, he challenges the viewer to reconsider the connotations of biohazards, not just in the physical sense but in the metaphorical contagion of art in public spaces. Impact and Significance in Modern Street Art Saber is an American artist whose real name has been as influential in the graffiti community as the images he creates on walls and in galleries. His use of a mailing label as a medium is a nod to the guerrilla tactics of early street art culture, where quick, impactful statements were essential, and materials were often repurposed or found objects. This sticker art, often called a 'slap-up,' is a form of street art that is quickly applied, or 'slapped up,' onto a surface in a public space. It allows for transient yet assertive communication, echoing urban life's fast-paced and often impermanent nature. The neon orange and blue artwork transcends its simple components, becoming a canvas for a larger discourse on visibility, legality, and the permanence of art. As a form of street pop art, it retains the accessibility and mass appeal of pop culture while embedding itself in the more subversive and counter-cultural roots of graffiti. This duality is where its power lies; it is both a bold declaration and a subliminal whisper, a fixture on the streets that can be as quickly removed as it is noticed. In the context of graffiti artwork, Saber's biohazard label sticker becomes an artifact of the streets, a testament to the artist's ability to command attention and communicate through symbols and color. With its saturated hues and deliberate drips, the piece resonates with the energy of the streets and the people's voices. It is a piece that marks a physical space and stamps a moment in time, encapsulating the essence of street pop art in its ability to capture the pulse of contemporary urban life. The interplay of color, symbol, and medium in this piece illustrates the innovative potential of street pop art. Saber's work disrupts the monotony of urban environments, offering passersby a moment of aesthetic arrest amidst the concrete canvas of the city. In modern street artwork, such interventions are not just decorative but are vital narratives that articulate the identity and the undercurrents of a city's cultural dialogue. Through works like this, Saber and his contemporaries continue to influence the trajectory of street pop art, ensuring its evolution and relevance. They remind us that the streets remain a powerful platform for artistic expression, where the voices of the marginalized and the spirit of rebellion can find their visual lexicon. Saber's neon orange slap-up label sticker is not just a mark made with acrylic or marker; it is a statement, a challenge, and a vibrant echo of the energy that drives the city's heart.

The toy is not merely a playful item; it is a legitimate and impactful piece of art that comments on the human condition. Saber This Way Up Orange Slap-Up Label Sticker Original Tag Art by Saber

This Way Up Orange Slap-Up Label Sticker Original Tag Art by Saber Original Permanent Marker Art Drawing on Mailing Glosse Arrow Sticker by Graffiti Artist Modern Street Artwork. 2020 Signed Original Slap Up Graffiti Art Tag 4x6 Marker Tagged on Mail Service Up Arrow Label Sticker. Exact Sticker May Slightly Vary From Image. Signature Styles and Symbolism within the Graffiti Movement Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork have evolved into prominent visual languages of urban culture, often conveying potent messages of social and political dissent. Within this context, the original tag art by the American graffiti artist Saber, precisely his "This Way Up Orange Slap-Up Label Sticker," epitomizes the dynamic intersection between everyday materials and artistic expression. Known for his influential role in the graffiti community, Saber, whose real name is Ryan Weston Shook, has crafted an impactful career that extends beyond the streets and into the gallery spaces. Saber's work on the "This Way Up Orange Slap-Up Label Sticker" is a testament to street art's raw energy and spontaneity. Using a familiar mailing gloss arrow sticker as his canvas, Saber transforms an object of mundane utility into a vibrant piece of art. The choice of material is not incidental; it speaks to the graffiti tradition of appropriating public spaces and objects for personal expression. Typically signifying direction and purpose, the arrow is recontextualized here to direct attention to the overlooked surfaces of urban environments that become the graffiti artist's domain. The bold use of orange and the confident strokes of the marker creates a striking contrast, emphasizing the piece's visual impact. Saber's gestural lines, layered and overlapping, defy the simplicity of the sticker's original purpose. This interplay of color and form is characteristic of Street Pop Art, where the vibrancy of popular culture is distilled into visual snippets that capture the viewer's attention. The year 2020, when this piece was created, saw a resurgence in graffiti art's relevance, mirroring a time of social upheaval and the search for new means of expression. Saber's "This Way Up Orange Slap-Up Label Sticker" aligns with the historical ethos of graffiti as a form of resistance and identity. By signing the artwork, the artist asserts ownership and authenticity, a bold claim in the often anonymous world of street art. Graffiti Artwork, traditionally seen as vandalism, has gained recognition in the art world, blurring the lines between high art and street culture. Saber's work, much like that of his predecessors and contemporaries, challenges preconceived notions of what constitutes art and who is deemed an artist. The permanence of the marker on the gloss arrow sticker symbolizes the lasting impact of graffiti culture, an indelible mark on the face of contemporary art history. The "This Way Up Orange Slap-Up Label Sticker" by Saber is more than a mere piece of original permanent marker art. It reflects the artist's American heritage, a snapshot of the year 2020, and a bold statement within the Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork movement. Saber, who remains a pivotal figure in the graffiti world, continues to inspire and provoke, ensuring that his art remains a part of the urban landscape as the streets themselves.

"The title of this image comes from a line in the poem, "Painted Landscapes Deceive Me -- Dancing Between Angels and Angles". This was a reference to Marie Antoinette arriving in Strasbourg when she first became queen and the faux painted landscapes placed outside her window, created to make her feel welcome. A further reference to De Stijl and Aubette Dance Hall with the angled and rectilinear lines the movement was known for. Along with its proximity to the Cathedral and the angels that grace its walls. Bubbles sort of fly loosely and dance through space, somewhat the antithesis of what De Stijl conveyed but a nice reference to movement. We liked the idea of the girl tearing away the perceptions built up around her while trying not to lose herself." -Faile Artistic Narratives in Motion: The Tale of "Dancing Between Angels/Love Stories B-Side" by Faile "Dancing Between Angels/Love Stories B-Side," a compelling artwork by the artist collective Faile, is a testament to the intricate layering and storytelling inherent in street pop art & graffiti artwork. This limited edition piece, a hand-painted varied edition of 22, is a 24-color hand-pulled silkscreen print embellished with acrylic, silkscreen ink, and spray paint on deckled 310 gsm Coventry Rag paper. Spanning 28 x 40 inches, each print is signed, stamped, and embossed and carries a unique narrative that intertwines historical references with a modern artistic lexicon. "The title of this image comes from a line in the poem, "Painted Landscapes Deceive Me -- Dancing Between Angels and Angles." This was a reference to Marie Antoinette arriving in Strasbourg when she first became queen and the faux painted landscapes placed outside her window, created to make her feel welcome. A further reference to De Stijl and Aubette Dance Hall with the angled and rectilinear lines the movement was known for. Its proximity to the Cathedral and the angels grace its walls. Bubbles fly loosely and dance through space, somewhat the antithesis of what De Stijl conveyed but a nice reference to movement. We liked the idea of the girl tearing away the perceptions built up around her while trying not to lose herself." -Faile. Deconstructing Historical Illusions: Faile's Interpretive Canvas The narrative behind "Dancing Between Angels/Love Stories B-Side" draws from a rich tapestry of historical and artistic references. Inspired by a poem, the title alludes to the deceptive pastoral landscapes presented to Marie Antoinette upon her arrival in Strasbourg, designed to create an illusion of welcome and grandeur. Faile extends this metaphor to explore the concepts of perception and self within the framework of pop and street art. The work visually explores tearing away layers of pretense, a spirited dance between reality and artifice. The piece also pays homage to De Stijl, a Dutch artistic movement emphasizing abstraction and geometric forms. The sharp angles and rectilinear lines characteristic of De Stijl are present in the artwork, juxtaposed with the organic forms of bubbles and the fluidity of the central figure. This contrast is a deliberate nod to movement and dynamism, challenging the rigidity of De Stijl with the fleeting dance of bubbles through space. Movement and Metaphor: Faile's Fusion of Dance and Art At the heart of Faile's creation is the depiction of a female figure caught tearing through the facades surrounding her. This act is literal and symbolic, a dance of liberation that reveals the layers beneath the surface. The figure's upward reach and poised legs evoke a sense of balletic grace, suggesting that tearing away deception is as elegant as forceful. The angels and architectural elements referenced in the artwork serve to anchor the piece within a broader historical narrative, connecting the transient nature of street art with the permanence of cultural heritage. Including these elements creates a dialogue between the past and the present, infusing the work with a sense of timelessness. Visual Poetry: The Rhythmic Allure of Faile's Work "Dancing Between Angels/Love Stories B-Side" is, in essence, a visual poem that speaks to the heart of street pop art & graffiti artwork. It is a dance of colors and forms, a rhythmic composition that transcends the confines of its medium. Faile's work captures the spirit of pop art's dialogue with popular culture, blending it with the subversive edge of street art to create something wholly new and deeply resonant. Each print of this limited edition is a narrative fragment, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork on multiple levels. The dance depicted in the print is not just physical; it is an emotional and psychological journey, a dance of the soul that mirrors the complexity and vibrancy of the human experience. In the diverse world of street pop art & graffiti artwork, "Dancing Between Angels/Love Stories B-Side" by Faile is a powerful expression of the genre's capacity for storytelling and emotional depth. It stands as a reminder that art can be a vehicle for examining our perceptions, tearing away the layers that obscure truth, and celebrating the liberating power of dance and movement.

The contrast of the bright orange against the calming blue backdrop brings forth a playful yet profound narrative, embodying the juxtaposition often found in street art—where vibrant murals spring to life against the muted urban landscapes. Atomik, with this piece, continues to showcase his ability to merge the worlds of street art and pop culture seamlessly. While the subject might appear simple at first glance, its execution, with layered tones and intricate detailing, speaks to the depth and complexity of the artist's vision. Collectors and aficionados of street art will instantly recognize the significance of this one-of-a-kind artwork. Not only does it capture Atomik's unique style and essence, but it also immortalizes a moment in time when art, culture, and history converge on a single canvas. "Untitled III" isn't just a painting; it's a narrative, a statement, and an experience unto itself.

I've been a big fan of Andy Howell's art and skateboarding since the late '80s, and I watched eagerly as he and his partners launched New Deal Skateboards in 1990. New Deal was groundbreaking not only because skaters creatively led it, but because Andy Howell's art and design almost instantly shifted the aesthetics and style of skateboarding from skulls and dragons to graffiti and hip-hop. New Deal was the first company primarily focused on street skating and street culture, and their smart, funny, ads celebrated their role as the "power to the people," "ear to the street" vanguard of skater-owned-and-run companies. Straight out of the gate New Deal set the tone for the '90s. -Shepard

Orange

Exploring the Vivacity of Orange in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Orange's Role in Street Pop and Graffiti Art

In the kaleidoscope of colors that drench the canvases of urban landscapes, orange bursts forth with a vitality that captures eyes and stirs emotions. This color, often associated with creativity, playfulness, and enthusiasm, finds a special place in the palettes of artists dedicated to the genres of street pop art and graffiti artwork. Its versatility allows it to act as a bold statement on its own and a complementary accent within a more extensive array of colors. From the zesty shades that mimic the mid-century modern aesthetic to the burnt oranges that echo the earthy tones of the 1970s, orange is as much a historical callback as it is a contemporary explosion of energy on the visual scene.

Technical Attributes of Orange in Artistic Expression

Technically, orange offers a range of hues that can be manipulated to various effects. In spray paint, a predominant medium for graffiti artists, the color's opacity can range from translucent to solid, allowing for the creation of depth and the suggestion of texture. Street pop artists often lean into the use of fluorescent orange to tap into the color's inherent attention-grabbing property, harnessing its power to make a statement that is both visually loud and symbolically charged. The physicality of the color, when laid onto a surface, interacts with the environment — sunlight can enhance its vibrancy. At the same time, the artificial lighting of cityscapes can give it a neon-like glow that pulses with urban life.

Cultural and Emotional Significance of Orange

Culturally, the color orange has been employed to signify various themes and emotions. In the context of street pop art and graffiti artwork, it can represent a spectrum of concepts, from a joyous celebration of life to a poignant reminder of societal challenges. The color's visibility has made it a go-to choice for pieces that intend to communicate messages of warning or protest. Its capacity to stand out against the concrete grays of city infrastructure makes it an effective tool for catching the eye and engaging the passerby in a visual dialogue.

Interaction and Contrast in Color Schemes

In terms of interaction and contrast, orange is a versatile player in color schemes. It can be paired with cooler tones like blues and greens to create a visual pop or with warmer colors to produce a harmonious and inviting palette. In street pop art, the juxtaposition of orange against unexpected colors can lead to startling contrasts that challenge the viewer's perceptions and provoke thought. In the hands of a graffiti artist, orange can be a flame-like accent in an enormous mural, or it can dominate the artwork, radiating heat and intensity.

Orange as a Symbol in Artistic Narratives

Symbolically, orange has held various connotations that street pop and graffiti artists have exploited to tell their stories. It can be an emblem of transformation and change, mirroring the ever-shifting nature of the streets. In specific contexts, it can carry political or social significance, signaling caution or denoting hazard. Artists tap into these meanings, using orange not just as a color but as a symbol loaded with the weight of its associations.

The Future of Orange in Urban Artistry

Looking to the future, orange will undoubtedly play a crucial role in the evolution of street pop art and graffiti artwork. Its ability to adapt to new trends and technologies while still carrying the weight of its historical and cultural significance ensures its place in the artist's color arsenal. Whether through the development of new pigments or the exploration of light-based art forms that play with color perception, orange will persist as a color of choice for artists aiming to make a statement on the urban canvas. The vibrancy of orange in the context of street pop art and graffiti artwork is not just a testament to its visual appeal but also to its complexity as a color. It encapsulates a range of emotions and themes, from the warmth of a sunset to the urgency of a warning signal. Its presence in urban art is a dialogue with the observer, a bold punctuation in the visual language of the streets, and a marker of the times — ever-changing yet enduringly impactful.
