Helice Wen, an artist renowned for her emotional and evocative work, brings a fresh perspective to pop art. Her piece "In The Nature of Daydreaming No 2" is particularly notable for its use of acrylic paint on 290gsm fine art paper, a choice that speaks to the blend of durability and delicacy in her work. The artwork, measuring 17x24 inches, is a testament to her mastery of both scale and detail. The Significance of Printers Proof (PP) in Contemporary Art The PP, or Printers Proof, edition of this artwork holds a special place in the art community. Traditionally, printer's proofs were seen as a part of the printmaking process, reserved for the printer's use and not typically for sale. However, in contemporary art, these proofs have gained value as unique pieces, often more sought-after than standard editions due to their rarity and the direct involvement of the artist. Wen's decision to sign and mark this piece as a PP HPM further elevates its exclusivity and appeal to collectors. Hand Embellishment: A Bridge Between Fine Art and Street Aesthetics The hand-embellished nature of this artwork is a crucial aspect of its charm and value. Hand embellishments in art involve the artist adding individual touches to each print, making every piece in the edition unique. In the context of Wen's work, this practice blurs the line between traditional fine art prints and street art's spontaneity and individualism. The use of acrylic paint for hand embellishments in "In The Nature of Daydreaming No 2" not only adds texture and depth to the piece but also infuses it with the raw energy characteristic of graffiti. Archival Quality and Its Role in Modern Art Preservation The use of archival pigment in fine art is another aspect that sets Wen's work apart. Archival pigments are known for their long-lasting quality, ensuring that the artwork does not fade or deteriorate over time. This longevity is essential for collectors and art enthusiasts who view the purchase of such pieces as an investment. The 290gsm fine art paper used in this print further contributes to its durability, striking an optimal balance between weight and texture. In summary, Helice Wen's "In The Nature of Daydreaming No 2" is a fascinating example of how contemporary artists are melding the worlds of street pop art, graffiti, and fine art. Through her choice of medium, hand embellishments, and attention to archival quality, Wen has created a piece that not only stands out in the modern art landscape but also challenges and expands the boundaries of traditional art forms.

The Essence of Street Pop Art in Sarah Joncas' Work Joncas's work embodies the essence of street pop art by integrating popular culture elements with an urban, street-inspired edge. In "Pretty Broken Flower," the artist employs a bold and expressive palette reminiscent of classic pop art. However, Joncas' approach is nuanced, incorporating a modern sensibility that resonates with graffiti art's grittier, more spontaneous aspects. The butterflies and the heart-shaped lollipop intermingle with the subject's melancholic expression, creating a juxtaposition central to the piece's impact. Archival Pigment and Its Role in Modern Artwork The archival pigment in "Pretty Broken Flower" signifies a commitment to longevity and the highest printmaking standards. This technique ensures that the print will resist fading and degradation, which is critical for collectors who invest in limited edition prints like Joncas' work. The archival pigment is a nod to the importance of preservation in art, especially in the context of Street Pop and Graffiti Artwork, where the transient nature of the medium—often seen on walls and in urban spaces—is counterbalanced by the enduring quality of the print. Limited Editions and the Culture of Collecting This particular print, marked as a Printer's Proof (PP), is part of a unique subset of limited edition artworks that collectors highly sought after. The PP designation indicates that the print was part of a remarkable run to verify the quality before printing the complete edition. The artist or printer often retains these proofs, making them rarer than the edition prints and, therefore, more desirable. Joncas' decision to sign and mark the piece as PP adds a layer of exclusivity and personal touch, which is highly valued in modern Street Pop and Graffiti Artwork. The Emotional Depth in Joncas' Pop Art "Pretty Broken Flower" conveys an emotional depth characteristic of Joncas' style. The subject's gaze is introspective, suggesting an inner turmoil or a reflective state that viewers can relate to or interpret in various ways. This emotional connection is a hallmark of Street Pop Art, where the rawness and authenticity of street art meet the more polished, gallery-worthy aspects of pop art. Joncas masterfully balances these two worlds, creating a piece that is both accessible and profound. The Size and Impact of the Artwork Measuring 16x19 inches, "Pretty Broken Flower" is an intimate size that draws the viewer into closely interacting with the artwork. The dimensions are significant in that they allow for a detailed appreciation of Joncas' technique, from the fine lines of the subject's hair to the delicate patterns on the butterflies. The size also makes it an ideal piece for personal collections, as it can be displayed in various settings without overwhelming the space. In modern art, Sarah Joncas' "Pretty Broken Flower PP Printer Proof" is a striking example of how the lines between pop art, street art, and graffiti can be blurred to create something new and emotionally resonant. This Printer's Proof (PP) archival print from 2020 is part of a limited edition, signed and marked by the artist, signifying its rarity and collectibility. Printed on 290gsm Moab fine art paper, this piece utilizes archival pigment, ensuring that the vivid colors and delicate shading remain as intended for years. Technical Brilliance in Modern Artwork The choice of Moab fine art paper tells of Joncas' commitment to quality. Known for its substantial feel and ability to render sharp, accurate colors, the paper is the perfect medium for "Day Dream," which relies heavily on subtle gradations of tone and color to achieve its dream-like quality. The use of archival pigment further adds to this print's allure, providing a level of detail and longevity essential for high-end Street Pop and Graffiti Artwork. Measuring 17x12 inches, the artwork offers a sizeable canvas that allows viewers to immerse themselves in the serene world Joncas has created. The Narrative Power of Joncas' Art The "Day Dream" narrative is as striking as its visual composition. The image of a woman in repose, intertwined with vibrant red poppies, suggests a narrative of escapism and serenity. Her peaceful expression allows viewers to project their longing or contentment onto the scene. This personal connection is a fundamental aspect of Street Pop Art, where public accessibility and emotional engagement with the artwork are paramount. Joncas captures this spirit by creating a visual story that is both unique and universal. Limited Editions as Cultural Statements The PP designation of "Day Dream" is significant within the art-collecting community. Printer's Proofs are often printed in tiny quantities and are used as a quality check before the complete edition is run. These proofs can differ slightly from the final edition, often making them more coveted by collectors for their uniqueness. Joncas' signature on the print confirms its authenticity and her direct involvement in its creation, adding a level of intimacy between the artist and collector highly prized in the Street Pop and Graffiti Artwork scene. Embracing the Essence of Pop Art "Day Dream" embodies the essence of pop art through its explicit, powerful imagery and the use of everyday iconography—in this case, the poppies—to elicit an emotional response. However, Joncas elevates this concept by infusing it with tranquility and introspection, often associated with fine art. This blurring of lines between pop culture and high art is a defining characteristic of Joncas' work and speaks to the versatility of Street Pop Art as a genre. In the landscape of contemporary art, Sarah Joncas's "Day Dream PP Printer Proof" holds a special place. It is an artwork that encapsulates pop art's evolving nature, embracing its roots in mass culture and its potential for profound personal expression. The archival quality of the print ensures that it will endure, allowing future generations to continue engaging with its timeless narrative and impeccable craftsmanship.

Steven Lopez Butterfly Trap Archival Print by Steven Lopez
Purchase Butterfly Trap Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Steven Lopez Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "I’ve been exploring the monarch butterfly pattern on my portraits and while I enjoyed that aspect I wanted to understand how I could use it in other situations. I first drew the figure in my sketchbook while looking at the muse. I liked the flow of the drawing and pondered how I could use it in a painting. A few days later I came up with the idea while listening to Jamiroquai’s, Butterfly. This was the first time I added distress to the derrière.The under painting was applied by brush with coarse textures executed by palette knife. Under painting has been a big focal point for me. It’s helped me understand how to trap light and distinguish shadows with greater dexterity. A new door has opened which makes me feel like I’m learning all over again." - Steven Lopez

Beau Stanton The Fool Archival Print by Beau Stanton
Purchase The Fool Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Beau Stanton Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "The Fool was the central piece from my Arcane Archetypes exhibition where all the paintings were based on images from the Major Arcana of the Tarot. My first intention with this body of work was to create a series of images that instill a lasting imprint into the viewer’s subconscious. As an initial point of departure I started to research one of the most recognizable and iconic sets of images, the Major Arcana of the Tarot. After studying several existing decks, I discovered that some of the images shared common ground visually and conceptually with several paintings I had created in the past. When I first thought about making a series of paintings based on images from the Tarot, I knew that I would have to include the Fool since it is the “zero” card and an extremely important archetype in the set. I started by researching all of the iconic tarot decks to see the ways the symbols had been interpreted in the past along with reading a few books by 19th Century occultists who were really into tarot. From there I applied some of my own symbols that I often use in my work that had common ground with the overall significance of The Fool to concoct a fresh take on an ancient iconic symbol." - Beau Stanton

Adam Caldwell Signal Flare Archival Print by Adam Caldwell
Purchase Signal Flare Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Museum Natural Fine Art Paper by Adam Caldwell Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "This is a painting of one of my favorite models, Victoria. I painted her in front of a vintage photo of a railway signalman swinging a lantern at night. He’s sending information to the conductor of the train by moving the light in different patterns. There are also elements from an architectural model, a receding yellow fire hose, and some backward 1950’s ad copy. This piece was part of a recent show with Ekundayo and Joram Roukes "New Generation" at Thinkspace gallery in July 2013. I used ad copy, historical photos, and female figures as elements in most of the pieces. It’s a bit simpler than most of my compositions. The figure is really centered as well, I usually push for a more asymmetrical placement, but I like how it came out." - Adam Caldwell

I am very inspired by the idea of mythology as the personification of the cycles of nature and the inspiration for most of our art and stories. In this piece the child represents new creative life while the desolate setting reflects the end of the old cycle of life." - Adam Miller

Taylor White Offering Standard Archival Print by Taylor White
Purchase Offering- Standard Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Taylor White Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "This is one of a few springboard pieces into my visual exploration of bodies in motion. It evolved from the idea of the phenomenal impact of the human body in space, the dance of the soul, and the flow of forms colliding. When using the body as a tool of explosive expression, one dares to take the journey into a territory that requires immense trust, the sacrifice of oneself on the altar of vulnerability. Dance, if done fully and authentically, renders the soul completely raw. I started studying a form of modern dance called Contact Improvisation, and that study has opened me up to a new set of curiosities which I’ve been able to explore both physically in space, and visually on the page. It became about the point of surrender, of the sacrifice of the ego and all its trappings. To 'dance' on paper has been entirely mind-opening and I’ve tackled it with a renewed spirit." - Taylor White

Aaron Nagel Sinew Archival Print by Aaron Nagel
Purchase Sinew Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Aaron Nagel Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "This piece was created for the “20 Years Under the Influence of Juxtapoz” show curated by Thinkspace and Copro that opened in LA last month. It’s still up actually, at the LA Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdale Park. This was the first larger piece in a while that wasn’t created as part of a larger body of work actually. I’m in-between shows at the moment, so right now I’m trying some new things, playing with new ideas that may or may not carry over into a larger body of work. This piece has since led me into some much weirder territory — that will hopefully see the light of day." - Aaron Nagel
