All prints are signed, numbered" -Casey Weldon Casey Weldon's Vivid Giclee Print "Necronominomnom" The contemporary art scene is often a vibrant playground of conceptual ideas and visual experiments, and Casey Weldon's "Necronominomnom" is a testament to this innovative spirit. An exemplar of modern Street Pop Art, this limited edition giclee print is imbued with a pop culture aesthetic that pushes the boundaries of traditional fine art. The 2022 signed and numbered limited edition of 50 captures a macabre yet whimsical vision, a signature style of Weldon's work. The print measures 15x12 inches on a larger 16x13 inch fine art paper, providing a generous border for framing and showcasing the piece. This artwork was showcased at the prestigious Supersonic Invitational at Harman Projects in Los Angeles, California, affirming its significance in contemporary art. The material quality of the piece is uncompromised, printed on high-quality 235GSM paper with archival ChromaLife inks renowned for their 100-year light fastness. Such longevity ensures that the vivid colors and intricate details of "Necronominomnom" will remain as evocative and potent as the day they were printed. An Intersection of Pop Culture and Fine Art Aesthetics Weldon's "Necronominomnom" is a unique intersection of popular culture and fine art, a creation that is as thought-provoking as visually arresting. The print features an unsettling yet compelling image of a mouth full of skulls wrapped in a voluptuous red that seduces and repulses the viewer. This juxtaposition of the beautiful with the grotesque is a hallmark of Weldon's artistic philosophy, prompting observers to question conventional notions of beauty and horror. It's a powerful commentary on the dualities within all facets of life, presented through a lens unmistakably tied to the streets and the pulsating life of urban culture. The precision of Weldon's technique and the depth of color achieved in the print underscore the artist's mastery over his medium. The skulls, rendered with meticulous detail, appear to be both a part of and trapped within the mouth, suggesting a deeper narrative about consumption, mortality, and the unforgettable human appetite for life and its pleasures. Casey Weldon: A Modern Pop Artist's Vision Casey Weldon, hailing from the United States, has carved a niche in Modern Pop Art with his distinctive style and poignant thematic content. "Necronominomnom" is a clear reflection of Weldon's artistic vision, encapsulating his ability to find harmony in discord and bring the nuances of street art into the refined space of fine art galleries. His work speaks to the contemporary condition, a visual narrative that resonates with the complexities of the modern experience. The print is more than just a collectible item; it's a piece of Weldon's narrative that he shares with the world. His signature, alongside the numbering on each print, signifies his personal endorsement and presence within the artwork, allowing collectors to hold a piece of the narrative. "Necronominomnom" invites viewers to delve into a world where conventional lines are blurred. Art becomes a medium through which the familiar is made strange, and the peculiar becomes hauntingly familiar. Weldon's contribution to Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork is substantial, infusing the movement with a fresh perspective and authenticity from a genuine commitment to his craft. Through his works, we are reminded of art's power to confront, unsettle, and inspire. "Necronominomnom," with its exquisite execution and daring concept, stands as a bold statement from an artist unafraid to challenge the status quo and redefine the boundaries of pop culture artistry.

  • Temper Tot Tramples Guernica Silkscreen Print by Ron English

Ron English Temper Tot Tramples Guernica Silkscreen Print by Ron English

Temper Tot Tramples Guernica Silkscreen by Ron English Hand-Pulled 4-Color Screen on 320gsm Coventry Rag Paper Mural Pop Street Art Artwork. 2021 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 199 Artwork Size 43x25 "Temper Tot Tramples Guernica" is an evocative piece by Ron English, a seminal figure in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork. English, known for his masterful blending of high and low cultural touchstones, presents a 2021 silkscreen juxtaposing his iconic Temper Tot character against the backdrop of Picasso's historic mural "Guernica." This work is part of a limited edition series, meticulously hand-pulled on 320gsm Coventry Rag Paper, known for its exceptional quality and durability. The artwork is substantial, with an image measuring 19 by 38 inches and paper size extending to 25 by 43 inches, allowing the visual drama and detail to unfold powerfully before the viewer. English's work is part of a limited run of 199 pieces, along with artist proofs and foundation proofs, each signed and numbered in pencil by the artist. This specificity in documentation provides collectors with a guarantee of the artwork's authenticity and exclusivity. Ron English's artwork is recognized for critically engaging with cultural narratives and iconic figures. In "Temper Tot Tramples Guernica," English superimposes his superhero-like toddler over Picasso's black-and-white portrayal of the tragedies of war, thereby infusing the somber historical narrative with a contemporary and ironic twist. The Temper Tot, with his exaggerated musculature and childlike impulsivity, becomes a symbol of unchecked power and emotional rawness, a stark contrast to the solemnity of Picasso's anti-war masterpiece. The choice of the Temper Tot, one of English's most famous characters, known for embodying the artist's critique of American consumerism and corporatization, presents a compelling dialogue between past and present political discourse. This dialogue is further emphasized by the vibrancy of the silkscreen technique, a hallmark of English's practice, which brings the historical into the immediate and visceral realm of street art. "Temper Tot Tramples Guernica" was printed by the renowned Gary Lichtenstein Editions and distributed by WCC Editions, ensuring the highest level of craftsmanship in producing this print. The paper's hand-deckled edges contribute to the unique character of each piece, as they echo the textured, often imperfect surfaces of urban environments where street art naturally resides. The mural from which this print originated was created in 2015 under the auspices of the Lisa Project NYC, further cementing English's role in the urban landscape of public art. By moving from the transient medium of murals to the permanence of limited edition prints, English allows for a wider dissemination of his ideas, enabling a broader audience to engage with his provocative juxtapositions and vibrant imagery. Ron English's "Temper Tot Tramples Guernica" serves as a poignant reminder of the power of Street Pop Art to comment on society, offering a bridge between historical consciousness and contemporary critique. It stands as a testament to the potential of street art to infuse spaces, whether public or private, with layered meanings and vibrant visual impact.

Moonage Daydream 5-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Fine Speckletone Art Paper by Artist Shepard Fairey OBEY. 2022 Shepard Fairey Numbered Limited Edition of TBD 18x24 inches. Screenprint on thick cream Speckletone paper. "David Bowie is one of my favorite musicians not only because so many of his songs possess magic, but also because he was creatively fearless and perpetually collaborative. I first discovered David Bowie in 1983 when his Let’s Dance album came out, and its hits like “Let’s Dance,” “China Girl,” and “Modern Love” were getting radio play. I became a die-hard Bowie fan once I picked up Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars at a flea market a few years later. Ziggy Stardust is one of my favorite albums ever. It makes sense that it was Bowie’s breakthrough album, not just because his newly adopted androgynous glam image was provocative and mesmerizing, but because the songs on the album are incredible! At first, my favorites were obvious rockers like “Suffragette City” and “Ziggy Stardust,” but over the years, folkier songs like “Soul Love” and “Starman” really grew on me. It’s almost impossible to pick a favorite Bowie song from Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, much less Bowie’s entire catalog, but if I had to, I’d pick “Moonage Daydream.” It has Mick Ronson’s rocking guitar and also features unexpected instrumentation, including piano, strings, sax, and flute, which makes it both tough and pretty. I love the lyric, “don’t fake it baby… lay the real thing on me,” and all the lyrics have a sci-fi hipster coolness to them. “Moonage Daydream” is powerful, beautiful, hypnotic, hip, and a great indication of Bowie’s vision to push boundaries with his art. For this “Moonage Daydream” print image, I was able to reference outtakes from the Ziggy cover shoot, one of which I thought, with a few artistic liberties taken, could become a great portrait illustration. Bowie was incredibly photogenic, which yielded so many glorious images of him, and makes it a challenge to create a new visage that stands with the rest of his most iconic portraits. It is very meaningful for me to have the opportunity to craft my articulation of one of my favorite artists ever, from possibly the era of his peak creative genius. It is an honor to contribute in a small way to David Bowie’s visual legacy. –Shepard is one of my favorite musicians not only because so many of his songs possess magic, but also because he was creatively fearless and perpetually collaborative. Print Fine Art Graffiti Street Pop Artwork

Print Art in the Context of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Concerning Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork, print art represents a dynamic and influential medium that has played a crucial role in the dissemination and evolution of these art forms. Historically, printmaking has been a vital tool for artists to reproduce their work efficiently and accessibly, allowing them to reach a broader audience. In street and pop art, print art encompasses various techniques, including screen printing, stencil printing, and lithography, each offering unique possibilities for artistic expression and mass distribution. This medium has enabled artists to challenge traditional notions of art, bringing their work from the streets to the galleries and vice versa.

Evolution and Techniques of Print Fine Art in Street and Pop Art

The evolution of print art within the street and pop art genres is marked by its adoption by iconic artists like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring, who utilized screen printing techniques to create vibrant, high-impact images. This approach allowed for the repetition of bold graphics and bright colors, typical of pop art aesthetics. In street art, printmaking techniques, especially stenciling, became instrumental for artists like Banksy and Shepard Fairey. Stencils allowed for quick, reproducible designs that could be executed rapidly in public spaces. These techniques not only facilitated a more efficient way of producing art but also contributed to the signature styles of these artists, making their work instantly recognizable. The journey of print art within street and pop art has been one of innovation, adaptation, and significant influence. Iconic figures like Andy Warhol and Keith Haring played pivotal roles in this evolution. Warhol, a leading figure in the pop art movement, revolutionized the concept of art production through his use of screen printing. His technique, characterized by the repetition of photographic images and the use of bold, vivid colors, challenged traditional notions of originality and artistic genius. This approach was perfectly aligned with the pop art movement's ethos, which sought to blur the lines between 'high' art and 'low' cultural imagery, often derived from mass media and consumer culture. Keith Haring, another seminal artist, leveraged print art to create dynamic, high-energy works that were accessible and relatable. His art, often filled with simple yet impactful imagery, was rooted in the street culture of New York City. Haring's use of bold lines and bright colors became synonymous with the visual language of the 1980s and left a lasting imprint on the pop art landscape. His work also exemplified the democratizing power of print art, as he often produced prints of his work to make it more accessible to a broader audience.

Print Art's Impact on Accessibility and Distribution

One of the most significant impacts of print art in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork is its role in democratizing art. By enabling mass production, print art has allowed street and pop artists to distribute their work widely, challenging the exclusivity of traditional art forms and galleries. This accessibility has been essential in shaping public perception of street and pop art, transforming them from subcultural expressions to respected and sought-after art forms. Furthermore, the affordability of prints has made it possible for a broader audience to own and engage with art, breaking down barriers between the artists and the public. Print art has served as a vehicle for mass communication and cultural critique in street and pop art. The ability to produce multiple copies of a single image has allowed artists to reach a wider audience, spreading their visual messages far and wide. This aspect of print art aligns well with the ethos of street and pop art, which often comment on consumerism, political issues, and societal norms. The replication of images in print art echoes the mass-produced nature of consumer goods and media imagery that these art movements often critique.

Print Fine Art Contemporary Trends and Future Directions

Print art stands at the crossroads of tradition and innovation in the current artistic milieu. Digital technology has ushered in a new era for printmaking, allowing artists to infuse time-honored techniques with cutting-edge processes. This fusion has created hybrid works that blur the lines between analog and digital, handcrafted and machine-produced, tangible and virtual. Such innovations reflect the fluid nature of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork, where staying static is not an option, and evolution is the norm. Artists entrenched in street pop art and graffiti are redefining the scope of print art by incorporating elements of 3D modeling, digital collage, and algorithmic design. The textures, colors, and forms that were once exclusive to the digital realm are now being translated into physical prints, expanding the artists' visual vocabulary and offering new experiences to the audience. As these digital techniques become more sophisticated, the ability to manipulate images and create complex layers has resulted in prints that are not only artworks but also technical marvels. Integrating augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) with traditional print art is another frontier being explored. AR-enabled prints can transform static images into interactive experiences, engaging viewers in a multisensory journey.

Similarly, VR can take the essence of a print and expand it into an immersive environment, allowing the audience to step into a world crafted by the artist. These developments are expanding the canvas for artists and redefining the relationship between the artwork and the viewer. Environmental sustainability is also shaping the future of print art. As the world becomes more ecologically conscious, artists are seeking ways to reduce the environmental impact of their work. This has led to exploring eco-friendly inks, recycled materials, and alternative energies in creating prints. The street pop art and graffiti scenes, which have always had a dialogue with the urban environment, are now extending this conversation to the planet's wellbeing, making art that speaks to societal issues and treads lightly on the earth. The democratization of art through digital platforms has significantly impacted print art. Social media and online galleries have made it easier for artists to showcase their work and for collectors to discover and acquire new pieces. This accessibility breaks down the barriers between artists and audiences, fostering a global community of creators and enthusiasts. The ease of sharing and selling prints online not only boosts the visibility of artists but also contributes to the cultural and economic vitality of the art market.

Looking forward, print art is poised to embrace even more radical transformations. Biotechnology and materials science advances could lead to living prints that change over time, grow, or even respond to their environment. Exploring space and celestial bodies as new canvases for art is another realm that printmaking could venture into. The ethos of street pop art and graffiti, with their roots in challenging the status quo and pushing boundaries, aligns perfectly with these forward-thinking prospects. In the grand tapestry of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork, print art continues to be a thread that weaves the past and future together. It stands as a testament to the resilience and adaptability of these art forms, evolving to meet the moment while never losing sight of their foundational principles. As technology progresses and society changes, print art will undoubtedly remain at the forefront of artistic innovation, capturing the imagination of artists and audiences alike for generations to come.

The Enduring Legacy of Print Art in Modern Art Movements

The enduring legacy of print art in Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork lies in its ability to amplify the artist's voice and reach a diverse audience. Its influence extends beyond art creation to social and political activism, where prints have often been used for communication and protest. As artists continue to explore and reinvent printmaking techniques, the medium remains a vital component of these vibrant and ever-evolving art forms. Print art, with its rich history and innovative future, continues to be a testament to the power of art to transcend boundaries and connect people across different cultures and backgrounds. Print art's continued evolution and adaptation within street and pop art underscore its significance in these genres. As new technologies and materials emerge, artists find innovative ways to incorporate printmaking into their work, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved visually and conceptually. Digital printing, for example, has opened up new possibilities for complexity, precision, and experimentation in color and form. The journey of print art in street and pop art is a testament to these artistic movements' dynamic and ever-changing nature. From Warhol's screen prints to Banksy's stenciled walls, print art has been instrumental in defining the visual and conceptual landscape of street and pop art. It continues to be a vital medium for artists to express their visions, engage with audiences, and comment on the world around them.
