This collectible is a testament to Abloh's profound influence on the intersection of pop culture and art, and it showcases his ability to reimagine classic icons through a contemporary lens. In this 2023 release, Abloh extends his creative narrative to action figures, transforming Skeletor, a quintessential villain from the Masters of the Universe series, into a monochromatic piece that blurs the line between toy and art. Standing 7 inches tall and boasting 30 points of articulation, the figure is not just a static model but a dynamic sculpture inviting interaction. The attention to detail is evident in the included swappable hands and battle weapons, allowing for various epic displays and arrangements. The toy comes with an array of accessories that enhance its value as a collector's item, including a ram staff, a shaping staff, and an art print designed by Reggieknow, all presented in monochromatic premium packaging. These elements reflect Abloh's dedication to design and understanding the narrative's significance in objects. His reinterpretation of Skeletor symbolizes his approach to artistry—innovative, boundary-pushing, and deeply rooted in a pop culture narrative. Abloh's craftsmanship and ability to infuse contemporary artistry into beloved figures from pop culture have solidified his status as a trailblazer in street pop art and graffiti artwork. In creating this limited edition Skeletor vinyl sculpture, Abloh invites us to view familiar characters from a new perspective. The choice of a monochromatic nude palette strips the figure of its traditional, colorful attire, presenting it as a blank canvas that challenges the viewer to reimagine Skeletor's story. This choice serves as a metaphor for Abloh's broader artistic philosophy: to see beyond the surface and to appreciate the potential for reinvention. Collectibility and Artistic Merit As a limited edition piece, the Skeletor toy by Virgil Abloh is a valuable addition to the world of collectibles. It exemplifies how street pop art can transcend traditional canvases and be manifested in various forms, from wearable art to posable sculptures. Abloh's work is sought after not only for its artistic merit but also for its cultural significance, and this Skeletor figure is a prime example of how collectible artwork can become a conversation piece about the intersections of art, design, and pop culture. The Virgil Abloh x Skeletor Toy is a celebration of street pop art and a tribute to the cultural impact of the Masters of the Universe franchise. Abloh's artistry shines through in this limited edition sculpture, allowing collectors and fans alike to own a piece of his visionary reinterpretation of a classic character. Iron Man 3- Box Office Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 330gsm Fine Art Paper by Bask street artist modern pop art. "Last June, a friend called me saying that Robert Downey Jr. and the production team wanted to use one of my paintings, When It Rains It Pours, in the next Iron Man film. So I created it to their size specification of 5ft wide and 13ft tall and the piece was put into Iron Man Tony Starks' home in the film. Then they asked me if I’d be interested in doing more work for the Mandarin’s lair a few months later when they were shooting in Miami. I of course said yes, and ended up doing 13 more massive paintings and some set design for them along with the Iron Man mask you see here. They asked me to create a design for the wrap of the film last year. They made shirts and postcards for the set department with that image. So while this doesn't appear in the film it was definitely a big part of the project." - BASK

Avenge Me Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 310gsm Museum Fine Art Paper by Meggs Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "This piece was part of my 2014 solo show ‘Spoiled Rotten.’ It’s part of a series of hand-painted heroes over sourced old-school style target posters, which are then torn and collaged with a combination of found billposters and hand screen printed retro comic collages. All made during my month-long residency with Inner State Gallery in Detroit. The split between traditional ‘bad guy criminal’ & Captain America reflects the classic comic narrative of Hero vs Villain, however, the distressed style & execution of the piece references the fragile nature of moral ideals and social justice in contemporary American society." - Meggs

Mike Sutfin Devilman Silkscreen Print by Mike Sutfin

Devilman Limited Edition 9-Color Hand-Pulled Silkscreen Print on Fine Art Paper by Mike Sutfin, Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2015 Limited Edition of 300 Artwork measuring 18" x 24", these prints needed eight screens and nine colors to capture their vibrancy on the 100# c stock French Pop-Tone Berrylicious paper used, and the back view of the character is printed on the reverse side of the print. Mike Sutfin's Devilman: A Symphony of Color and Chaos The "Devilman" limited edition silkscreen print by Mike Sutfin is a formidable example of how street pop art and graffiti artwork can bring together vibrancy, intensity, and a touch of the macabre. This 2015 piece, a limited edition of 300, captures the essence of its subject matter through a stunning 9-color palette applied via eight screens onto 100# c stock French Pop-Tone Berrylicious paper. Measuring 18x24 inches, the artwork showcases Sutfin's mastery in a modern pop art context, providing a fiery representation of the titular character with a complexity that demands attention. The Artistic Process Behind Devil man's Creation The creation of "Devilman" is a testament to the meticulous silkscreen printing process. The requirement of 8 screens for the nine colors used in the piece illustrates the intricate layering process that imbues the artwork with depth and dynamism. The process is detailed, requiring precision and a keen eye for detail to ensure that each layer of color sits perfectly upon the last, building up to create the final arresting image. This technique, while traditional in its roots, is brought to life in a new way through Sutfin's skillful hands, blending the boundaries between street art and fine art. Interpreting Devilman: Street Pop Art Meets Mythology Sutfin's "Devilman" is more than a visual spectacle; it explores mythology, character design, and the eternal dance between good and evil. The figure stands amidst flames, a visual nod to the hellish realms often associated with devils and demons. Yet, the character is not merely a representation of evil. The complexity of the image, with its vibrant colors and detailed linework, suggests a narrative that goes beyond the binary of good versus evil. It speaks to the inner battles that rage within, the fiery potential for destruction and rebirth in every individual. The decision to print a back view of the character on the reverse side of the print adds a layer of depth to the artwork, inviting viewers to consider the many sides of the character – and themselves. This duality is a common theme in street pop art, where the surface image often belies a more profound story waiting to be uncovered by those who look closely enough. Mike Sutfin's "Devilman" is a powerful example of modern pop art's ability to combine traditional techniques with contemporary themes. "High Three" stands out for its 8-bit style representation of an iconic scene that melds nostalgia with the modern. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT), a staple of pop culture, are reimagined in a pixelated form that harks back to the era of retro video games. This piece is not merely a giclée print but a bridge connecting the dots between the digital art of early gaming culture and the expressive freedom of Street Pop Art and graffiti Artwork. Aled Lewis's Artistic Approach A marks Lewis’s approach to art. A distinct infusion of humor and cultural references marks Lewis's approach to art. The "High Three" is a playful take on the traditional high-five, celebrating victory, camaraderie, and the quirks of turtle anatomy. The print's composition, with its bright, contrasting colors and blocky visual aesthetic, is instantly recognizable and accessible, making it a beloved piece for art collectors and pop culture enthusiasts. The artwork serves as a cultural commentary, reflecting on the zeitgeist of the '80s and '90s while resonating with contemporary audiences. The use of the TMNT in the art piece is a strategic choice that leverages the viewer's sense of nostalgia while engaging with the aesthetics of video game art that has permeated the street art scene. The giclée printing technique used by Lewis for "High Three" is notable for its high fidelity and color accuracy, which preserve the vibrancy and detail of the original digital design. Printed on fine art paper, the work bridges the gap between digital art and traditional printmaking, offering a tactile experience that compliments the visual playfulness of the piece. Impact of "High Three" on Street Art "High Three" is significant not just as a piece of art but as a reflection of digital culture's impact on Street Pop Art and graffiti Artwork. It represents a shift in the medium and subject matter, where the lines between street art, pop art, and digital art become blurred, allowing for a broader interpretation and appreciation of contemporary art. Aled Lewis's "High Three" is a testament to the evolving narrative of street art and its interaction with pop culture. With its limited availability and distinctive style, the piece is a highly sought-after item among collectors. It is a perfect example of how traditional street art can adapt and thrive in the digital age. It celebrates the convergence of art forms and the enduring appeal of pop culture icons.
