"I did an exhibition last year that opened on Valentine's Day which was called ‘One Red Rose Forever’. It’s an old Sailor Jerry tattoo phrase. I always like to revisit and re-imagine my own personal archive of imagery in new ways. This image is a reworking of a much larger piece I painted a couple of years back. But as excited as I was about this idea, I then had to figure out how to make this happen within a reasonable time frame. Characters that Detroit inspired me to create. I have to add that this has been one of the most labor-intensive projects I've taken on.
