Interpretation Limited Edition Hand-Embellished Archival Pigment Prints, Spray Paint on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Wane One Cod Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "This piece was created solely for my 1xRun print release. It is part of an ongoing series called Rasta, (respect all subway transit artists). All of the pieces are painted on NYC subway maps.I painted on a 1972 New York City subway map because this version was the best-designed map in my opinion. Also, graffiti took to the city in the early ’70s and at that time went from the walls to subways. I painted a signature 'Wane' piece as it has a strong letter foundation which is what subway art is based on." - Wane One Cod

Wane One COD: A Pillar of Street Art and Hip-Hop Culture

Wane One, also known as Wayne COD, is a celebrated figure in the world of street pop art and graffiti, whose work has significantly influenced the aesthetics of urban culture and hip-hop. Born in West London and having spent time in England and Grenada, Wane relocated to the North Bronx with his family in 1978, which became the crucible for his artistic development. His journey into graffiti began in 1983 when he painted his first train, a rite of passage in the graffiti world that marked the beginning of a prolific career. Wane One's artistry extends beyond the streets; he has crafted logos for renowned hip-hop groups like Gangstarr, Jeru the Damaja, and Group Home, and has collaborated with major brands including Sean John Menswear, Nike, and Reebok. His work is a dialogue between the raw expressiveness of street art and the polished aesthetic of commercial design, a testament to his versatility and creative vision. The artist's dual identity as a businessman and creator is encapsulated in his company, Writers Bench, through which he balances his time between the act of painting and the logistics of running a creative business. Wane's commitment to his craft and his community has solidified his status not only as an artist but as an entrepreneur within the cultural landscape of street art. Wane One's work can be explored through his website and social media, where he showcases a portfolio that spans the gritty essence of Bronx street art to the refined designs that have become synonymous with hip-hop's visual identity. His journey from the streets of London to the trains of New York and into the echelons of global brands underscores the transformative power of graffiti art and its enduring influence across various facets of culture.
