The essence of Frost’s commentary is established on the basis of subverting the meaning and the messages, promoted by the mainstream media. In other words and, as he has stated in the past: “The less you fill your mind with the trappings of advertising and bad television, the more space you have in your brain for things of value”. At the same time, his take on modern pop culture is equally compelling. Mainstream media, advertisements, and politics can be identified as some of his main fields of interest, which he utilizes and mixes up in a controversial formation. The word controversial is not used incidentally. What Ben Frost’s art is doing is, essentially, the appropriation and weaponization of imagery against the same system that gave birth to it.

  • Thoughtcrime Ant HPM Stencil by Bask

Bask Thoughtcrime Ant HPM Stencil by Bask

Thoughtcrime Ant Limited Edition Hand-Painted Embellished Paint, Stencil, Acrylic on Wood by Bask Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "These pieces are a continuation of my Thoughtcrime series. The Ant image is painted on a series of weathered panels. This set was completed within the past month. It’s hard to say how long they took to create because salvaging the panels from a variety of places over a long time is just as much of a part the art as laying down the paint on top of them. Each piece has it’s own history embedded onto itself. Each piece is hand crafted and each panel has been painted and processed by me. I like the idea of small production works that let people get a original piece of art for the cost of some prints these days.I have been saving these panels for a while and finally it was time to cut them down and make some art out of them. Paintings of the same stenciled image but each looking 100% original to itself. Each piece has it’s own distinct character and personality while keeping the repetition of the Thoughtcrime." - BASK

  • Super K Mario Blotter Paper Archival Print by Ben Frost

Ben Frost Super K Mario Blotter Paper Archival Print by Ben Frost

Super K Mario Blotter Paper Archival Print by Ben Frost Limited Edition Fine Art Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper. 2023 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 100 Archival Pigment Print on Perforated Blotter Paper Size: 7.5 x 7.5 Inches Release: April 19, 2023 Super Mario Special K Video Game Limited blotter editions are hand-perforated by Zane Kesey. "Super K Mario Blotter Paper" is a provocative work of art by Ben Frost, a notable figure for juxtaposing pop art iconography with subversive contexts. This limited edition archival pigment print, released on April 19, 2023, swiftly stands out in pop, street, and graffiti art, stirring dialogue about culture and consumerism. Limited to 100, each piece is meticulously signed and numbered, affirming its uniqueness and collectible status. Frost's creation is a dynamic 7.5 x 7.5 inches print crafted on perforated blotter paper, which traditionally is associated with the distribution of LSD, a usage that the artwork cleverly alludes to without endorsing. The piece showcases the famed video game character Super Mario, depicted in vibrant colors, entwined with the word "KETAMINE" and associated pharmaceutical verbiage. This visual blend delivers a potent statement on the recreational drug culture while playing with the commercialization of beloved childhood figures. The 'Super Mario Special K' title fuses the name of the iconic Nintendo character with a slang term for ketamine, further pushing the boundaries of artistic expression and social commentary. Each blotter is hand-perforated by Zane Kesey, lending an element of handcrafted authenticity to the work and providing a tactile connection to the counterculture Kesey's father, Ken Kesey, was a part of. This process not only exemplifies the artist's attention to detail but also embeds each piece with a sense of personal touch and historical reverence. Ben Frost's art is not for the faint of heart; it confronts the viewer with nostalgia and shock, prompting a re-examination of the icons that populate our collective consciousness. The "Super K Mario Blotter Paper" is a testament to his ability to subvert mainstream symbols and present them back to society with a fresh, if not jarring, perspective. Collectors and admirers of this limited edition work receive more than a piece of art; they acquire a statement, a conversation starter, and a bold critique of the intersections between pop culture, art, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Mike Giant Zen Blotter Paper Archival Print by Mike Giant

Zen Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Mike Giant pop culture LSD artwork. Signed 2019 "The Zen graphic is a Zen circle, known as Enso. It represents absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and mu (the void). I often contemplated these things when I was a regular LSD user and always thought it would be a great image on acid tabs. This is 1 of 6 LSD graphics I illustrated in early 2017 after reminiscing about my days as a regular LSD user (at least once a week). 3 of the 6 graphics in this series were based on real LSD that I ate and sold. The other 3 are things I thought would work great as blotter art. I researched blotter art and found some that I remember eating and selling. The others I made up. They’re really special when compared to what I usually offer and I’ll bet they’ll be worth some money someday as this is the only time I’ve drawn LSD blotter art." - Mike Giant

AZ373- Trippin Blue Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by Add Fuel pop culture LSD artwork. 2021 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 150 Blotter Artwork Size 7.5x7.5. The AZ373-Trippin Blue Blotter Paper represents a fascinating fusion of subcultural edge and high artistry within Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork. This limited edition piece, a work by the artist Add Fuel, exemplifies the ongoing intersection of art and counterculture, particularly within the sphere of psychedelia. Released in 2021, each print in the limited series of 150 is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship and cultural relevance that Add Fuel brings to the table. Crafted with archival pigment print on perforated blotter paper, a material historically linked with the distribution of LSD, this artwork encapsulates a period where drug culture heavily influenced visual art, music, and lifestyle. The 7.5x7.5 inch artwork size is manageable for collectors and intimate enough to draw viewers into its complex design. The intricate patterns and vibrant Blue hues are reminiscent of traditional ceramic tile aesthetics, reimagined through a contemporary lens to challenge perceptions of what street art can encapsulate. The personal touch is evident as each blotter edition is hand-perforated by Zane Kesey, further adding to the uniqueness of each piece. Kesey's involvement connects the artwork to a broader narrative, considering his father, Ken Kesey, was a figurehead of psychedelic culture. This lineage authenticates the artwork, bridging past and present ideologies. As a collectible, the AZ373-Trippin Blue Blotter Paper is not just a visual delight but also a historical artifact. It stands as a bold statement in the collector's world, where art meets subversive history, and each numbered piece carries the artist's signature, sealing its status as a genuine piece of Street Pop Art. Collectors and enthusiasts of Graffiti Artwork are often drawn to such pieces that not only add aesthetic value to their collection but also carry a narrative of cultural shift and artistic evolution.

Untitled Simulator Interface II Blotter Paper Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print Art on Perforated Blotter Paper by J Demsky pop culture LSD artwork. "My first experience with the Lsd was if I remember correctly about 95-96. It was a small dose, probably a quarter of a "Lucas Duck" that were quite soft, the second was the same dose with a “Bicycle" and the experience was also smooth.Until one day the "Simpson double drop" appeared and it was different. We took half to be sure of the trip and we did not notice anything after almost an hour (at that time people also sold them fake) so we decided to take the other half, imagine what happened. We lost control and my friend ran away, I supposed to go his house and I did the same. But I remember it took me a while to open all three doors since the key was bent as if it were a magic trick. The first thing I did was turn on the TV and there was the movie "The Shining", I was only able to see some scenes but I remember the second time I watch it I thought they had deleted some scenes, you can imagine...Until dawn it was very intense. I think this was the last use I did LSD in a very long time. Now I can say that I have never dedicated myself to selling drugs, but I was very good at faking things and spent a while making "replicas" of sheets of some that were very soft (like “Marilyn Monroe’s" or "Strawberries”) I even used my own designs of things that he painted at that time.In these strange days I feel with a smile remembering those experiences and adding a double drop to these new sheets. :)" - J Demsky

Archival Pigment Print on Perforated Blotter Paper Size: 7.5 x 7.5 Inches Release: April 19, 2021 Limited blotter editions are hand-perforated by Zane Kesey & may vary slightly from the example shown. Ben Frost is utilizing imagery familiar to western culture in order to make a statement about the culture itself on the basis of consumerism, modern icons, big corporations, etc. Animation characters, pop icons, brand logos, and many more are transformed into vibrant artworks and find their place in galleries. With this in mind, and in the case of Ben Frost, it is futile to try to identify a clear borderline between low and high art. In reality, the artist wants the audience to think on the terms of high or low value and, by extension, what these actually mean. Over the years street artists have managed to establish themselves as respected creators and some of them have even gained international fame, transforming graffiti from a fringe art, aiming sometimes to mark street gangs’ territory, into big business.

Blotter paper artwork prints are a unique form of art that involves transferring ink onto specially treated blotter paper. The resulting prints are often abstract and colorful, and can be used for a variety of decorative and artistic purposes. To create a blotter paper artwork print, the artist first prepares the blotter paper by treating it with chemicals that will enhance its absorbency and ability to hold ink or dye. Then, ink or dye is applied to the paper using various techniques, such as dripping, pouring, or spraying. The paper is left to dry, and the resulting print is then carefully removed from the blotter paper. Archival printing techniques are used to produce high-quality prints of the original artwork. This involves using high-quality inks and paper that are designed to last for a long time without fading or deteriorating. Archival prints are also resistant to moisture and sunlight, which helps to preserve the artwork for years to come. Blotter paper artwork prints can be a great addition to any home or office decor, and they are often used as a unique form of wall art. They are also popular among collectors and art enthusiasts, as each print is one-of-a-kind and can never be replicated exactly.

White Graffiti Street Pop Artwork

White in the Spectrum of Street Pop Art and Graffiti Artwork

Manifestation of White in Urban Art

White, often perceived as a non-color or a blank canvas, asserts a distinctive power in street pop art and graffiti artwork. In a world where vibrancy and color saturation are prized, the use of white becomes a bold statement. It is the color that encompasses all others within its spectrum, yet it stands apart in its purity and simplicity. In street art, white is used not only to create contrast but also as a defining element that shapes the identity of a piece.

Artistic Techniques Highlighting White

Artists employ white through various techniques that underscore its significance. White can be sprayed, rolled, or brushed onto surfaces to carve out space, bring light, and create definition. It can highlight and accentuate, allowing the colors around it to pop and the darker tones to deepen. The texture of white paint is also crucial; a smooth, unblemished white surface reflects the most light, bringing a luminous quality to artworks, while a textured white can add depth and shadow, subtly altering the viewer's perception.

Symbolic and Cultural Dimensions of White

Symbolically, white is laden with cultural and emotional weight. It can represent peace, silence, nothingness, or everything. In the context of street pop art and graffiti, white often conveys a sense of beginnings, offering a straightforward visual rest amid urban chaos. It is the color of possibility and the backdrop against which the stories of the streets are told. In some cultures, white symbolizes purity and cleanliness, which in the context of street art can be an ironic commentary on the city's cleanliness or the purity of art itself.

White's Role in Composition and Visual Harmony

Compositionally, white acts as a balancer and a breather within artworks. It provides a resting point for the eye, a space for contemplation amidst the often overwhelming stimulus of street imagery. White's use in street pop art and graffiti can create a sense of order and harmony, giving other elements within the artwork the space to be seen and understood. It is the silence between the notes, the unsaid within the dialogue of urban expression.

The Evolving Use of White in Street and Pop Art

The use of white within street pop art and graffiti is continually evolving. As artists explore the boundaries of their medium, white is being reconsidered and recontextualized. It is becoming more than just a background or accent color—it is used to make statements about space, light, and structure within the urban landscape. The future of white in street art is bound to its ability to adapt to serve as a canvas for the new and the experimental. In the rich tapestry of street pop art and graffiti artwork, white is the thread that weaves through unnoticed but essential. It is the color that speaks softly yet carries a multitude of meanings and functions. Its presence is a testament to the artist's understanding of color theory and their ability to manipulate viewer perception through the masterful use of this most fundamental hue. White, in its serenity, remains a powerful force in the visual lexicon of urban art, echoing the ever-present theme of contrast and highlighting the essential nature of all colors within its range.
