Purchase Estevan Oriol- LA Fingers Black Limited Edition Rare Spray Paint Can Artwork Crossover by famous graffiti paint maker Montana MTN. Estevan Oriol LA FINGERS, 2021 Limited Edition of 500 Montana Spray Paint Can Color: Black Estevan Oriol is an internationally celebrated professional photographer, director and entrepreneur. Beginning his career as a club bouncer turned tour manager for popular Los Angeles–based rap groups Cypress Hill and House of Pain, Oriol developed his passion for photography while traveling the world. He began documenting life on the road and established a name for himself amid the emerging hip-hop scene. In 1995, Chicano street photographer Estevan Oriol held a now-famous photo session in which he asked a Latina model with a fierce set of claws to arrange her bling-gilded fingers in the shape of two letters: L and A. Her black, pillowy lips pouting in the background, the image presented a mesmerizing, defiant symbol of West Coast pride. It reclaimed the typography of the Hollywood sign and it reimagined the Dodgers’ interlocking L.A. symbol. Not since the palm tree, the smoggy freeway or the lonely Hockney swimming pool had one image so succinctly captured the essence of Los Angeles — inaccessible and forbidden until Oriol (with its full blessing) delivered it to us.

Purchase Eyes On The King Verdict 4-Color Hand-Pulled Limited Edition Silkscreen Print on Fine Speckletone Art Paper by Shepard Fairey x Ted Soqui Rare Street Art OBEY Pop Artwork Artist. 2022 Signed by Shepard Fairey & Ted Soqui, Numbered 18x24 inches. Screenprint on thick cream Speckletone paper. Numbered edition of 600. "I based this “Eyes on the King Verdict” print on photos taken by Ted Soqui during the LA riots of spring 1992. Ted has a long history of photographing activists and protests, which began after the “not guilty” verdicts on April 29, 1992, for the four officers who severely beat Rodney King. I especially love the central pic of a young woman protester in a Malcolm X hat contemplating the scene. I think it is important to consider the symbolic weight of the Rodney King verdict and the emotional impact on communities of color seeking justice and accountability. At the time, 30 years ago, I remember feeling enraged that such a blatant act of police brutality was going unpunished when it was captured on video. It is heartbreaking how frequently similar acts of violence and abuse of power by law enforcement have gone unpunished, even when caught on camera. I don’t ever condone violence or looting, but I understand why LA erupted in riots and protests after the King verdict. When people feel that the American system has failed them repeatedly, things can reach a boiling point. The urge to protest injustice and the right to do so are legitimate, even if looting is not legitimate. The LA riots were a tragic mixture. However, beware of those who try to conflate protest with “criminal agitation” or “inciting a riot.” When the system fails the people, it is nothing short of patriotic for the people to protest for a solution. Ted Soqui and I both signed the “Eyes on the King Verdict” print.” – Shepard

California has long been recognized as a hotbed for artistic expression and cultural diversity, and this has been reflected in the world of graffiti art prints and street art prints. As the home to major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego, California boasts a thriving and eclectic graffiti and street art scene that showcases the talents of both local and international artists alike. This dynamic collection of work not only captures the essence of the Golden State, but it also highlights the unique and diverse perspectives of the artists who have contributed to its rich tapestry of urban art. One of the key aspects that set California's graffiti art and street art apart from those found in other regions is the influence of the state's diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. The melting pot of cultures in the state has led to the incorporation of various artistic styles, themes, and subjects that are emblematic of the state's vibrant spirit. From the vibrant Chicano murals in Los Angeles that celebrate the city's Hispanic roots to the intricate and socially conscious street art pieces found throughout the Bay Area, California's urban art scene is a testament to the state's inclusivity and openness. A major trend in California graffiti and street art is the integration of political and social messages. Many artists in the state use their work as a platform to express their views on issues that are important to them, such as climate change, racial and gender equality, and the housing crisis. As a result, their work often serves as a powerful medium for generating awareness and sparking discussion on these critical matters. This spirit of activism and social consciousness is deeply ingrained in the state's art scene and adds a thought-provoking dimension to its visual landscape. California's geography and natural beauty have also played a role in shaping its urban art scene. The state's sprawling coastlines, majestic mountains, and lush landscapes have provided inspiration for countless works of graffiti and street art, with artists often incorporating these elements into their designs. By blending nature and urban culture, artists in California have created a unique aesthetic that fuses the organic with the man-made, evoking a sense of harmony and balance. The street art scene in California has also been heavily influenced by the state's rich history of skate and surf culture. Many of the artists who have contributed to this movement have roots in these subcultures, and their work often reflects their passion for these sports. Skate and surf-inspired graffiti and street art prints can be found throughout the state, with many pieces paying homage to the iconic skateboard and surfboard brands, as well as the daring and rebellious spirit associated with these lifestyles. Over the years, California's urban art scene has gained international recognition, with artists such as Shepard Fairey, Retna, and Barry McGee emerging as some of its most well-known and influential figures. Their work has been widely exhibited and collected, cementing California's position as a global hub for graffiti and street art. As the popularity of urban art continues to grow, California's influence on the genre will undoubtedly remain strong, with the state's artists continuing to push boundaries and redefine the possibilities of this dynamic and ever-evolving form of creative expression. California's graffiti and street art prints are a testament to the state's rich artistic heritage, diverse cultural influences, and its powerful role as a catalyst for social and political discourse. As a visual representation of the Golden State's unique character and spirit, these works not only offer an insight into the minds of the artists who create them but also provide a window into the essence of California itself.
