Crajes - Sprayed Paint Art Collection
Crajes is a contemporary artist duo consisting of Carlijn and Reiner, who are based in the Netherlands. Their collaborative practice encompasses a range of media including painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, and is characterized by a distinctive aesthetic that blurs the boundaries between the organic and the synthetic. The artists draw inspiration from the natural world, particularly the patterns and forms found in plants, fungi, and other organic matter. However, their work often incorporates artificial materials and processes, such as 3D printing, to create hybrid objects that challenge traditional notions of materiality and authenticity. One of Crajes' most notable works is the "Bulbo" series, which consists of intricate, hand-crafted sculptures that resemble otherworldly organisms. These sculptures are made from a combination of natural and synthetic materials, including resin, silicone, and various pigments, and are often illuminated from within, creating an ethereal glow that emphasizes their otherworldly qualities. Crajes has exhibited their work in numerous galleries and museums both in the Netherlands and abroad, including the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and the Venice Biennale in Italy. They have also received several awards and grants for their work, including the prestigious Royal Award for Modern Painting in the Netherlands in 2018. Overall, Crajes' work is a testament to the potential of contemporary art to challenge our perceptions of the world around us and to inspire us to look more closely at the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
