The new edition of the artwork is interpreted with hand-pulled four color Silkscreen print on Soy-Stained Authentic Egyptian Papyrus, and each print intricately arranged with a lattice of black Diamond Dust, to produce visually intoxicating kaleidoscope-like effects." -Marwan Shahin. The Creative Odyssey of Marwan Shahin's "Anubis Afterlife" "Anubis Afterlife," a mesmerizing creation by Marwan Shahin, represents a striking convergence of ancient tradition and contemporary artistic practice. As a street pop artwork, this limited edition silkscreen print on Egyptian papyrus paper encapsulates the spirit of modern pop art while paying homage to the rich iconography of ancient Egypt. The use of authentic papyrus as a medium is a salute to the time-honored methods of artistic expression, further enhanced by Shahin’s innovative aging techniques that lend the work an air of antiquity. Artistic Alchemy on Papyrus Shahin, an Egyptian street art pop artwork artist, embarked on a meticulous process of experimentation to perfect the aging of the papyrus, aiming to achieve a soy-stain effect that imbues the paper with an ethereal quality reminiscent of historical artifacts. The artwork, a limited edition of 30 and 14x17.5 inches, features the god Anubis, the ancient Egyptian deity associated with mummification and the afterlife. This figure is intricately detailed with four hand-pulled silkscreen layers, culminating in a visually arresting and richly symbolic composition. The incorporation of black diamond dust in the artwork adds a tactile dimension that catches the light, creating kaleidoscopic effects that enhance the mystical aura of the piece. Diamond dust, a material once popularized by Andy Warhol, reflects Shahin's ingenuity in combining traditional screen-printing techniques with the luxurious embellishments in pop art. The resulting work is an homage to Shahin's homeland's cultural heritage, street art's vibrant energy, and the glossy sheen of pop art. Marwan Shahin's Visual Fusion of Past and Present "Anubis Afterlife" is a testament to Marwan Shahin's creative vision, where Egyptian art's rich legacy intersects with street pop art's bold immediacy. Through the figure of Anubis, Shahin bridges millennia, conversing with the symbols of ancient mythology while engaging with the aesthetics of the present. The choice of Anubis, a deity symbolizing the passage to the afterlife, suggests exploring themes such as transition, transformation, and the eternal cycle of life and death. This piece's introduction of street pop art into the pantheon of Egyptian motifs presents a unique narrative layer. In much the same way street art often appropriates and recontextualizes images and symbols from mainstream culture, Shahin reclaims an icon from his cultural history, reinterpreting it through a modern lens. This reimagining places "Anubis Afterlife" within the lineage of pop art that challenges and redefines the boundaries between high and low culture. A Tapestry of Time Woven by Marwan Shahin Marwan Shahin's "Anubis Afterlife" is a luminous example of how contemporary artists can delve into the wellspring of their heritage while contributing to the global convert conversation, underscores the potential of street pop art and graffiti to serve as a platform for cultural storytelling and artistic innovation. Through his fusion of mediums and motifs, Shahin crafts a visual tapestry that spans the ancient and the avant-garde, inviting onlookers to contemplate the seamless continuity between history and modernity. In pop art and street art, Shahin's work exemplifies how traditional elements can be re-envisioned to resonate with new audiences. His intricate layering of colors and materials transcends mere reproduction, offering an immersive experience that reflects the past and is a beacon for the future of artistic expression. There is a violent history of police dogs being used to attack civil rights protesters, which contrasts intensely with the blissful perspective of white dog owners who pamper their dogs and hire dog walkers. Some of us never have to think about how the police abuse their power more frequently in non-white and lower-income communities. This “Sadistic Dog Walker” image encourages us to be aware of the “two Americas.” – Shepard

Old Is New Is Old Again Giclee Print by Dave Pollot Artwork Limited Edition Print on Fine Art Paper Graffiti Pop Street Artist. 2020 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 10 Artwork Size 8x10 Matted to 11x14 Renaissance Man Vintage Gentleman Wearing a Wolf Howling At The Moon Dave Pollot's "Old Is New Is Old Again" is a compelling piece of limited edition giclee print artwork that has found its grounding in the intersection of pop art, street art, and graffiti art. Released in 2020, this stunning piece is a testament to Pollot's unparalleled ability to repurpose, reimagine, and recontextualize traditional art forms into contemporary and engaging works. As part of an exclusive series, only 10 signed and numbered copies of this masterpiece exist, each meticulously produced on fine art paper to ensure longevity and vibrancy of color. Measuring 8x10 inches, with a mat that extends the dimensions to 11x14 inches, "Old Is New Is Old Again" is a captivating representation of a Renaissance man in vintage attire. The main subject, distinguished and posed as a gentleman of a bygone era, sports a curious addition that beautifully exemplifies Pollot's creative aesthetic — a graphic of a wolf howling at the moon. This piece seamlessly integrates aspects of modern imagery with classical portraiture, resulting in a unique fusion that embodies the spirit of graffiti pop and street art. In the realm of pop art, Pollot's piece is a nod to the repetition and mass production synonymous with the movement. By embedding modern iconography into a traditional portrait, the artist creatively merges past and present, thereby urging viewers to explore the ubiquitous influence of pop culture on societal perception. The wolf, a symbol often found in street and graffiti art, adds an element of rawness and organic spirit to the otherwise refined and polished depiction of the gentleman. Street art, often reflective of social and cultural expressions, finds its representation in the artwork as well. Pollot's rendering of the gentleman is symbolic of the adaptability and fluidity of street art, with its roots firmly set in the culture of the streets but its reach extending far beyond. The unorthodox incorporation of a graffiti-style wolf into a classical portrait suggests a strong link to street culture, bridging the gap between fine art and popular expressions of creativity. Graffiti art, traditionally associated with rebellion and counterculture, takes on a new form in "Old Is New Is Old Again." The howling wolf, often used in graffiti as a signifier of freedom and independence, has been seamlessly incorporated into the artwork. Its presence offers a stark contrast to the gentleman's attire, suggesting a dichotomy between societal norms and the desire for personal freedom and expression. Through this piece, Dave Pollot has remarkably bridged the gap between varying art forms and historical periods, crafting a timeless piece that speaks volumes of his understanding of art and culture. "Old Is New Is Old Again" is a perfect example of Pollot's ability to draw from diverse artistic movements and social themes, creating a work that resonates with the complexity and diversity of the human experience. In essence, this piece serves as a visual dialogue between different eras and artistic styles, proving that in the realm of art, the old and the new can coexist in the most harmonious and visually striking ways.

Dog Graffiti Street Pop Art

Canine Companions: A Tribute in Street Pop Art and Graffiti

Dogs, with their unwavering loyalty and boundless affection, have long been man's best friend. It comes as no surprise that their influence extends into the realm of street pop art and graffiti artwork, where they are often depicted as symbols of companionship, resilience, and joy. These faithful animals have been immortalized on walls and in urban spaces around the world, their depictions ranging from realistic portraits to stylized icons, reflecting the deep bond between humans and their four-legged companions.

The Artistic Paw Print: Dogs in Urban Art

The presence of dogs in street art is not merely a representation of the animal itself but often carries deeper connotations. Artists like Banksy have utilized the image of dogs to convey messages about society, politics, and human behavior. In the same stroke, the dog becomes a vessel for commentary and a subject of pure appreciation. The canine form lends itself seamlessly to the bold colors and dynamic shapes characteristic of street pop art, allowing artists to express movement and emotion in their depictions.

From Pets to Protectors: Dogs' Versatility in Graffiti

Dogs in graffiti artwork serve as versatile subjects, sometimes standing in as metaphors for protection, guidance, or rebellion. The depiction of guard dogs, for instance, can be both a literal representation and a symbolic gesture toward the idea of safeguarding a community. In other instances, the playful nature of puppies is captured in vibrant murals that bring a sense of warmth and light-heartedness to the often gritty backdrop of the cityscape. Through these artistic expressions, the role of dogs is celebrated and pondered, proving that their influence in our lives is as multifaceted as the art that honors them. Artists who choose to spotlight dogs in their street art are acknowledging the integral role these animals play in our lives. Whether through a lifelike portrayal of a beloved local stray or an abstract rendering of a canine figure, these artworks contribute to the rich tapestry of street pop art. The artists, known or unknown, leave an indelible mark on the urban landscape, a reminder of the joy and companionship that dogs bring into our world.
