Jeff Gillette Minnie Period 12 Original Stencil Painting by Jeff Gillette

Minnie Period 12 Limited Edition Hand-Embellished HPM 9-Color Aerosol Stencil and Acrylic on Cradled Canvas Gallery Wrap by Jeff Gillette Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2020 Signed Original Stencil Spray Paint Acrylic Painting Artwork Size 20x24 The "Minnie Period 12 Hand Stencil Original Canvas" by Jeff Gillette is a significant piece in the realm of pop, street, and graffiti art. Characterized by its use of iconic imagery intertwined with gritty urban landscapes, it stands as a vivid commentary on consumer culture and societal decay. Jeff Gillette, an acclaimed American artist, has been dubbed as "the man who destroys Disneyland," as he frequently utilizes familiar and nostalgic Disney figures juxtaposed against dystopian backdrops in his art. In this particular piece, the recognizable figure of Minnie Mouse is manipulated in an unconventional graffiti stencil style, emphasizing the essence of street art in its rawest form. The "Period 12" refers to Minnie's untimely Menstruation and the painting number. Gillette infuses this piece with a paradoxical blend of innocence and bleakness. This contrast not only critiques our media-saturated society but also invites viewers to question the impact of corporations on our shared cultural consciousness. With its unfiltered portrayal of the tension between popular culture and reality, the "Minnie Period 12 Hand Stencil Original Canvas" by Jeff Gillette stands as a powerful exemplar of modern pop and street art.

Muso Inko Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Helio Bray Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "I started the piece in the beginning of May 2012 for an exhibition in Lisbon, named ‘Shapes for All’. The Stroke Art Fair was a great experience. I made some other pieces for the same exhibition, all a bit different but very similar. The materials are my usual materials: acrylics and spray cans.I used to like to mixed some colors in particular with some specifics forms and that’s what I have made here. I have created an environment for the Mickey Mouse, where we can find some abstract layers. On this piece there is a bit of extra appreciation for the clean line. The grey paint that I used was one of the most spectacular greys that I have ever worked with." - Helio Bray

Mickey Hiroshima Limited Edition Archival Pigment Prints on 290gsm Moab Fine Art Rag Paper by Jeff Gillette Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2013 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 30 Size 14x9 "I am from the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. In the late 1980s, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal for two years. During this two-year stint, I visited every major city in India, finding myself exploring the huge slums found there. On my return home, I moved from the Mid-West to escape the snow to teach High School Art in Orange County, California. Since finishing my MFA at Cal State Fullerton, I have been exhibiting in galleries both at home and abroad. My work is most often landscapes. A major portion of my output is paintings of slums of the developing world, where I often add an element of western cultural privilege (and oblivion) into settings of urban blight. Inspiration for what I call “Slumscapes” comes from the first-hand experience of traveling. Most often I return over and over to my favorite destination: India. In the vast poverty-stricken fringes of its vast megalopolises, I trip out on how the economic disparities are obscenely extreme. I’ve been spending a lot of time in Mumbai slums: photographing, filming, creating Plein Aire paintings, and creating interactive street art. Besides depicting slums, my artwork portrays post-apocalyptic debris fields, landfills, and detritus-cluttered deserts. The Juxtaposition of Disney themes and beloved characters (i.e.: Mickey Mouse) with all these dystopias best conveys my personal views. Pondering contemporary social, political, economical and philosophical conundrums, I can’t help but feel absurdly helpless, pessimistic and humored about the future of Western Civilization…" - Jeff Gillette

  • Curser HPM Mixed Media Wood Print by Denial- Daniel Bombardier

Denial- Daniel Bombardier Curser HPM Mixed Media Wood Print by Denial- Daniel Bombardier

Curser Original Hand-Painted Multiple (HPM) Aerosol with Clear Coat Finish on Laser Cut Wood ready to hang by Denial Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. 2019 Signed & Numbered Aerosol with Clear Coat Finish on Laser Cut Wood Size: 5.5 x 7 x 1 Inches Release: August 14, 2019 Run of 100 "I like to think of myself as an activist in pop art. How I relate with cartoons and graphics is much easier than with photo-realistic stuff. I love referencing things that people are so familiar with. With humor and nostalgia, you can open up communication. I've done that for years and used elements of humor and familiarity to open a dialogue because then you can slide in some real issues and different things you're trying to convey in your work. You have a lot more open stream to the person's consciousness and experience towards how they're taking your art. If you can get them to laugh at it, remember something or relate to some image." -Denial- Daniel Bombardier The Innovative Intersection of Technology and Art in Denial's "Curser" In the dynamic and ever-evolving world of modern pop art, "Curser," a hand-painted multiple (HPM) by the renowned graffiti street artist Denial, stands out as a remarkable piece that encapsulates the spirit of contemporary street pop art and graffiti artwork. Denial, whose real name is Daniel Bombardier, has been a prominent figure in the art world, known for his activist approach and incorporation of pop culture elements into his works. The "Curser" HPM, released on August 14, 2019, is a limited edition series of 100, each piece bearing the artist's unique touch with aerosol paint and a clear coat finish on laser-cut wood. This artwork, measuring 5.5 x 7 x 1 inches, is a visual play on the familiar digital cursor, a ubiquitous digital symbol in the digital age. Denial transforms this everyday icon into a standalone piece of art that challenges viewers to reconsider the symbols that permeate our daily lives—using laser-cut wood as a medium is a nod to the precision and crispness of digital graphics. At the same time, the hand-painted aerosol technique infuses the work with the authenticity and raw appeal of street art. Denial's Artistic Philosophy and Its Reflection in "Curser" Denial's philosophy of using humor and nostalgia to engage audiences is vividly reflected in "Curser." By recontextualizing a digital pointer into a tangible, hand-crafted object, the artist bridges the gap between the virtual and the physical, the ephemeral and the permanent. Denial believes in the power of pop art to initiate dialogue, a belief that is evident in how "Curser" resonates with a broad audience. The familiar shape of the cursor, combined with the unexpected medium and manual intervention, becomes a conversation starter, prompting discussions about the impact of technology on art and society. The clear coat finish on "Curser" gives the artwork a modern sheen, reminiscent of the glossy interfaces of smartphones and computers, thus further blurring the lines between traditional graffiti art and contemporary digital aesthetics. This piece is not merely an artwork but a statement on the convergence of our digital experiences with the physical world. Denial's work exemplifies the evolving nature of street pop art, where traditional techniques merge with modern-day themes to create a new form of cultural expression. Collectibility and Cultural Impact of Denial's "Curser" As a collectible, "Curser" holds a special place in street pop art. Its limited run and the individual hand embellishments by Denial make each piece in the series unique, coveted by collectors who value the intersection of street art sensibilities with pop culture commentary. Denial's work, particularly "Curser," is a testament to the growing appreciation for graffiti art as a medium that can entertain and provoke thought. The cultural impact of "Curser" is amplified by its accessibility and relatability. Denial's approachable art invites viewers to reflect on the interplay between their digital habits and the tangible world, an increasingly relevant theme in our tech-driven society. The artwork serves as a reminder of the pervasive nature of digital symbols in our lives and the importance of questioning and exploring these elements through art. "Curser" is a prime example of how contemporary street artists like Denial push the boundaries of what street pop art and graffiti artwork can represent. The piece embodies the transformative potential of art to adapt and respond to the changing landscape of cultural symbols and societal issues. Denial's ability to infuse his work with wit and a sense of familiarity allows for a deeper engagement with his audience, making "Curser" a visually striking piece and a meaningful commentary on our times.

The "Melting Dob - Ice Blue" is a captivating piece of collectible artwork by Takashi Murakami, a trailblazer in the modern pop culture art scene. This particular piece is a testament to Murakami's expertise in blurring the lines between high and low culture, a concept deeply ingrained in the ethos of pop art. Each "Melting Dob - Ice Blue" is part of a limited edition run, new in the box, ensuring collectors acquire an art piece and an experience wrapped in the novelty of Murakami's creative vision. This work exemplifies Murakami's influence on the art toy movement, which intersects collectibility with fine art, a domain that Murakami navigates with renowned success. Collectors and enthusiasts of street pop art and graffiti artwork appreciate pieces like "Melting Dob - Ice Blue" for their ability to capture the pulse of contemporary culture while being rooted in artistic discourse. Murakami's work bridges the collectible and the conceptual, a physical embodiment of pop art's enduring legacy in the modern art world.

Jeff Gillette Art in Action Stealing Banksy Archival Print by Jeff Gillette

Art in Action- Stealing Banksy Archival Pigment Fine Art Limited Edition Print on 290gsm Moab Entrada Paper by Artist Jeff Gillette Urban Pop Art. 2022 Signed & Numbered Limited Edition of 100 Archival Pigment Print on 290gsm Moab Entrada Fine Art Paper Artwork Size 16x20 "Art in Action- Stealing Banksy" by Jeff Gillette is a provocative limited edition print that confronts the viewer with a powerful commentary on the commodification and ownership of street art. This 2022 archival pigment print on 290gsm Moab Entrada fine art paper, in a limited series of 100 signed and numbered editions, presents a stark black, white, and red composition that is sizeable at 16x20 inches, designed to make a statement wherever it is displayed. Gillette's work is often a satirical exploration of the intersection between global pop culture and the gritty realities of urban environments, and "Stealing Banksy" is no exception. The piece showcases a stenciled image reminiscent of the iconic style associated with the elusive street artist Banksy, featuring figures removing a wall piece, with the word "MINE" prominently displayed. The stark monochrome palette punctuated by the bright red text draws the eye immediately to the central message of the piece – the controversial practice of physically removing street art from its original public location to private collections for profit. In this print, Gillette plays with the layered concepts of art, ownership, and value. By depicting the act of 'stealing' Banksy, the artist raises questions about the nature of street art: is it meant to be a freely accessible art form or a commodity for the highest bidder? The image acts as a stark reminder of the tensions between art as a public treasure and as a private luxury. For collectors, "Art in Action- Stealing Banksy" is not just a piece of fine art; it's a piece of the ongoing dialogue about the place of street art in society. The limited nature of the print run reflects the exclusivity that comes with the territory of fine art, yet the subject matter critiques this exclusivity. Gillette's signature on each print adds a layer of authenticity and a direct connection to the artist, further entwining the themes of authorship and ownership inherent in the piece's narrative. Through "Stealing Banksy," Jeff Gillette invites us to reflect on the paradoxes of street art's ephemeral nature and its simultaneous status as a coveted commodity in the art market.

The "Speedy On Adderall Blotter Paper Archival Print" is another provocative piece by contemporary artist Ben Frost, known for his critical and vibrant works that often incorporate elements of pop culture and consumerism. Released alongside its counterpart on April 19, 2023, this limited edition piece similarly presents a stark commentary on the intersection of medication, in this case, Adderall, and cartoon characters, with Speedy Gonzales of Looney Tunes fame taking the spotlight. Limited to a mere 100 signed and numbered editions, this artwork is printed on 7.5 x 7.5 inches perforated blotter paper, a material choice that is emblematic of Frost's distinctive approach to art creation. The medium is particularly notable for its historical association with the distribution of substances, thereby intensifying the print's dialogue about pharmaceutical consumption and its prevalence in society. Speedy Gonzales, the "fastest mouse in all Mexico," is a fitting character for this work, bringing into focus the drug's intended effects on attention and speed of cognitive processes. By placing this animated icon on a background that mimics a prescription for Adderall, a medication used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy, Frost not only showcases his hallmark juxtaposition of innocence with more adult themes but also casts a light on the sometimes frivolous use of prescription stimulants in today's fast-paced lifestyle. Each print is hand-perforated by Zane Kesey, adding a layer of authenticity and craft that contrasts with the otherwise mass-produced nature of the subjects depicted. In the realms of pop, street, and graffiti art, Frost's work is both a critique and a celebration of the culture it represents. This piece, much like other works by the artist, invites viewers to question the narratives fed to us by the media and pharmaceutical companies and encourages a dialogue on the cultural implications of these narratives. "Speedy On Adderall" is more than just a piece of fine art; it is a cultural statement, encapsulating concerns about mental health, the ethics of drug use, and the pervasive nature of animated characters in shaping our understanding of the world. Mouse & Rat Graffiti Street Pop Art

The Cultural Resonance of Rodents in Urban Art

The mouse and the rat, creatures often considered pests in urban settings, have been reimagined and elevated to subjects of intrigue and icons of resilience in the world of street pop art and graffiti artwork. The representation of these animals in street art goes beyond their physical form, symbolizing a range of themes from survival and adaptability to the darker undertones of human existence in the concrete jungle. In street pop art, the mouse and the rat have taken on significant cultural resonance, often depicted in a variety of styles ranging from whimsical and charming to gritty and subversive. These creatures, known for their resourcefulness and ubiquity, mirror the characteristics of street artists themselves, who often work in the shadows of the city, leaving their mark in unexpected nooks and crannies. The portrayal of mice and rats can be seen as a metaphor for the way street art occupies and reclaims space within the urban landscape. The rat, in particular, has been a recurring motif in the works of many prominent street artists. It is a symbol that has been used to comment on everything from political corruption and societal greed to the indomitable spirit of the marginalized. In the hands of street artists, the image of the rat is transformed from an unwanted intruder to a powerful representation of the people's voice and the omnipresence of street art itself. Pop art's influence on the representation of mice and rats in street art is unmistakable, with bold colors and graphic lines often used to draw attention to these creatures, elevating them from the sewers to the spotlight. This use of pop art aesthetics brings a sense of irony and humor to the subjects, allowing artists to engage with viewers on multiple levels and encouraging the public to reconsider their perceptions of the urban environment and its animal inhabitants.

Street Pop Art's Commentary Through Rodent Depictions

In graffiti artwork, mice and rats are often portrayed with a dual nature, embodying both the endearing qualities associated with their small size and the perceived menace due to their association with decay and destruction. This duality is reflective of the graffiti artist's role in society—both celebrated as a purveyor of culture and creativity and, at times, vilified as a vandal. The small stature of these animals in such art pieces also speaks to the notion of the underdog, a common theme in the socio-political narratives of street art.Street pop art and graffiti artwork featuring mice and rats frequently serve as social commentary, touching on issues of economic disparity, human impact on the environment, and the struggle for survival in a world marked by rapid urbanization. These depictions provide a poignant commentary on the state of modern society, reminding us that the presence of rodents is a direct reflection of human activity and urban development. Through the artistic rendering of mice and rats, street pop artists challenge viewers to reconsider these creatures and their place in the urban ecosystem. Far from being mere vermin, in the realm of street pop art and graffiti, they become emblematic of the complexities and contradictions of city life. Through the use of mice and rats as subjects, artists continue to engage with the public in a dialogue about nature, existence, and the ever-changing landscape of urban environments.
