Butterfly Trap Limited Edition Archival Pigment Print on 310gsm Fine Art Paper by Steven Lopez Graffiti Street Artist Modern Pop Art. "I’ve been exploring the monarch butterfly pattern on my portraits and while I enjoyed that aspect I wanted to understand how I could use it in other situations. I first drew the figure in my sketchbook while looking at the muse. I liked the flow of the drawing and pondered how I could use it in a painting. A few days later I came up with the idea while listening to Jamiroquai’s, Butterfly. This was the first time I added distress to the derrière.The under painting was applied by brush with coarse textures executed by palette knife. Under painting has been a big focal point for me. It’s helped me understand how to trap light and distinguish shadows with greater dexterity. A new door has opened which makes me feel like I’m learning all over again." - Steven Lopez

I liked the idea of using the craft of the headdress to display the objects and ideas we worship in modern society. After abandoning the idea for many years I came back to it last year with the intention of developing the original though in a more intricate, yet ambiguous fashion. Pun intended. Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby's work is often laden with social commentary, and "Serpents" is no exception. The piece reflects Gats- Graffiti Against The Systemby's engagement with the urban environment, his critique of societal systems, and his contemplation of the individual's place within the larger context. The Essence of Mixed Media in Street Pop Art Monica Canilao and Xara Thustra, known for their vibrant contributions to street art and pop culture visuals, have embraced mixed media's eclecticism to its fullest. The artwork is a culmination of various recycled papers, thread, trim, fabric, pink vinyl, acrylic paint, silk screen ink, gouache, and other mixed media, all coming together to create a textural symphony that is as much about the medium as it is about the message. The "Let Love In HPM Unique Collage Print" by the collaborative artistic duo MCXT, which comprises Monica Canilao and Xara Thustra, is a riveting piece of art that stands at the intersection of pop art, street art, and graffiti artwork. This unique artwork is part of a limited edition series, with only 30 pieces created, each bearing its distinct characteristics due to the handcrafted nature of the prints. Exclusivity and Technique Each print in the series has been treated with an 8-color screen printing process, laying the foundation for the following intricate collage work. After the initial printing, the artists have taken to collaging, sewing, and hand painting on each print, ensuring that every print is unique. This technique not only underscores the exclusivity of each piece but also reflects the street art ethos of creating something unique and personal, a direct contrast to the mass-produced images that often characterize the consumer culture critiqued by pop art. Dimensions and Physicality The tangible aspect of the artwork is notable, with its dimensions stretching to 9.5x25 inches. Using recycled and upcycled materials is not just an artistic choice but also a statement on sustainability and the reusability of often discarded materials. The incorporation of cloth and thread adds a dimension of domesticity and handiwork, which contrasts with graffiti art's traditionally masculine and urban connotations, thus offering a commentary on gender roles within the art world and beyond. Collaborative Synergy The collaboration between Monica Canilao and Xara Thustra melds minds and styles, which is evident in the work. Canilao's background in creating detailed, intricate worlds full of personal symbolism complements Thustra's bold, graphic approach, which often includes textual elements and a clear, strong message. The synthesis of these two approaches results in a piece that is layered not just in its physical makeup but also in its conceptual depth. Cultural and Artistic Significance "Let Love In HPM Unique Collage Print" is a testament to the power of street pop art and graffiti artwork to comment on and interact with the broader cultural discourse. With its handcrafted individuality, the artwork challenges the notion of art as a commodity and reasserts it as a means of personal expression and social commentary. It's a celebration of the DIY ethos and the cultural significance of street art as a form of public dialogue and resistance. This limited edition artwork by MCXT is a powerful piece that captures the essence of street pop art and graffiti through its use of mixed media, its handcrafted nature, and collaborative spirit. The artwork serves as both a visual feast and a sociocultural commentary, bridging the worlds of fine art, street aesthetics, and environmental consciousness.

Back in 2008, I did about 9 tiny headdress pieces, each featuring strange objects in an ornamental and ceremonial fashion. I liked the idea of using the craft of the headdress to display the objects and ideas we worship in modern society. After abandoning the idea for many years I came back to it last year with the intention of developing the original though in a more intricate, yet ambiguous fashion. Pun intended. These pieces were made in November of 2012 for the Prisma Collective’s group show “Second Sight” at Trifecta Gallery in Las Vegas." - Casey Weldon

Tribal Druid & Native Graffiti Street Pop Artwork
Tribal themes have been a source of inspiration for many artists throughout history, and this includes both graffiti art and pop art. Graffiti art has its roots in urban culture, while pop art emerged in the 1950s and 1960s as a response to the rise of mass consumerism and the popularization of advertising and media. In graffiti art, tribal themes are often used to convey a sense of cultural identity and heritage. Graffiti artists may draw on traditional tribal art styles and motifs to create their own unique works that speak to their individual experiences and perspectives. For example, a graffiti artist might incorporate patterns inspired by Maori or Native American designs into their work to express their own cultural heritage or pay homage to the traditions of others. Similarly, in pop art, tribal themes are often used to explore issues of identity and cultural exchange. Pop artists may draw on imagery from tribal cultures to create bold, colorful works that comment on the ways in which cultures intersect and influence one another. For example, pop artist Keith Haring often incorporated tribal motifs into his work to create a sense of universal human connection, while also exploring themes of power and oppression. Graffiti art has its roots in the hip-hop culture of the 1970s and 1980s, and it has since grown to become a global phenomenon. Graffiti artists often use tribal themes in their work as a way of expressing cultural identity and heritage. For example, a graffiti artist of Pacific Islander descent might incorporate traditional Polynesian designs into their work to pay homage to their cultural heritage. In addition, graffiti artists may also draw on tribal motifs to create a sense of community and belonging. Graffiti writers often form crews, or groups of like-minded individuals, and the use of tribal themes can serve as a way of visually representing this sense of shared identity and purpose. Pop art emerged in the 1950s and 1960s as a response to the rise of mass consumerism and the popularization of advertising and media. Pop artists often drew on imagery from popular culture to create bold, colorful works that commented on the changing nature of American society. Tribal themes were often used in pop art to explore issues of identity and cultural exchange. Pop artists such as Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat often incorporated tribal motifs into their work as a way of creating a sense of universal human connection. For example, Haring's "Radiant Baby" image incorporates elements of tribal art, but it is also a symbol of hope and innocence that transcends cultural boundaries. The use of tribal themes in graffiti art and pop art can serve as a means of exploring issues of identity, heritage, and cultural exchange. By drawing on traditional motifs and styles, artists can create works that speak to their own experiences while also bridging the gap between different cultures and communities.
